In today’s episode, I want to talk about income projects (also called job projects) and passion projects (also called vocation projects) and why it’s important to keep them separate. I would also like to talk about why it’s important to prioritise income projects as a solopreneur and how to ensure that there is a sufficient pipeline of income projects so that we can keep doing our work. #PassionatelyCurious #Solopreneurship Thank you to our sponsors: Sunsama - https://try.sunsama.com/y7dcvg8p2qhz Deel - http://deel.com/partners/pacurious Links: Elizabeth Gilbert's Course on Creativity: https://acumenacademy.org/course/elizabeth-gilbert-creativity-workshop Seth Godin's Book, "The Practice": https://seths.blog/thepractice/ Saurabh's blog: https://blog.passionatelycurious.in

Michael Feeley | (Repost) | Life, Career, Change Coach | The Passionately Curious Show
Here's how Michael describes himself:
I’ve had successful jobs – selling Christmas cards, paper boy, putting together boat lights, singing telegrams. I also had other desires…
Built — a professional acting, singing and modelling career working with — Howard Da Silva, John Raitt, Howard Keel, Allan Jones, Bobby Van, Tovah Feldshuh, Ford Models… at the Kennedy Center and other theatres across America. (I even sang for President Jimmy Carter.)
Shifted — from the arts into customer service and sales at an International Cruise Corporation.
Lived — some of my greatest happiness, stress and creativity for over 20 years as a headhunter in New York City – finding people jobs.
Not ‘hit and run’ fill a job and move on but real passion to find the right person for the right job so they could be wildly happy and expressed. It mattered to me. Still does.
I am profoundly grateful to have worked with some of the best people in — finance, entertainment, insurance, advertising, non-profit, architecture, fashion, accounting, legal, publishing, real estate…
Today — I have the privilege to be a Seth Godin Akimbo Workshop Coach as well as a Certified Life – Career – Change Coach, helping create change in people's lives and answering the question: What do you want? And then… making it happen!
I’m honoured that my writings have been published at Arianna Huffington’s – Thrive Global, The Huffington Post, Medium, Maria Shriver’s Website, LinkedIn, Michael Port,

Yes. It’s true. I do live on the Caribbean Island of Saba where I actively blend my coaching skills with my real estate work. (Saba Island Properties). I see it this way:

Casey Von Neumann | Teacher, Coach, Business Owner | Akimbo, Rulerless | The Passionately Curious Show
In this episode, I talk to Casey about her journey as a teacher, coach and business founder.
We talk about how she helps high achieving leader find more satisfaction in their lives and careers.
We talk about complaining as a way to finding your way, the fallacy of "try harder", how to look at algorithms as tools to grow your business, getting into flow and much more.
-----
About Casey Von Neumann (in her own words)
Hi, I’m Casey! I help ambitious, high-achieving leaders to find more satisfaction in their lives and careers.
To be rulerless means to consciously choose your own metrics for success and happiness. As my uncle puts it, if the way you’re measuring yourself isn’t working, find something else.
The metric that matters most to me is joy. Freedom, fun, ease, excitement, money, and time to stare off into space are worthy of exploration. What’s most important to you?
I started my career as a music teacher, eventually growing my business into a full-fledged music school. I was obsessive about student success. If a student didn’t understand something, I took it upon myself to try another approach until they did. I discovered that I had a real passion for problem-solving, and I also deeply enjoyed mentorship.
In 2012, I founded The Little Middle School and expanded to teaching all academic subjects. I was able to apply what I had learned from teaching music to create mastery-based curricula for math, writing, and other subjects.
These days, my team and I support small businesses and their teams in helping them find more joy and fulfillment in their work. We always make the business more profitable while we’re at it.
When I’m not working, I enjoy making music, walking, rowing, traveling, reading, swimming, tennis, knitting, sailing, and spending time with my nieces and nephews. I live in Maine with my husband Kyle.

#12. Interview - Nadine Kelly - M.D., Founder of YOGI M.D.
About Nadine Kelly, M.D., Founder of YOGI M.D.
Here's how Nadine describes herself:
I am a retired pathologist, experienced yoga instructor, American Council of Exercise certified Health Coach and Senior Exercise Specialist, coach at the Akimbo workshops (originally founded by Seth Godin) and host of the YOGI M.D. Podcast.
For years, I was a practicing physician in a thriving community hospital setting. But despite having reached what I thought was my ultimate goal, something was missing – a sense of true fulfillment. The time had come to focus on health, wellness, and prevention. Already a yoga practitioner and first degree black belt in taekwondo, I was passionate about the connection of mind, body, and spirit, so I took a leap and became a yoga teacher to mature women, or as I like to call them, Wise Women.
I believe in empowering women, through yoga, to maintain the healthy bodies and minds they need to live life on their own terms, at every stage. Participation in my yoga classes helps students to maintain flexibility, mobility and balance in order to perform activities of daily living and leisure activities, improve quality of life, and control the effects of a range of chronic conditions. Since 2012, I have been teaching people with a variety of chronic conditions such as arthritis, joint replacements, hypertension, scoliosis, sleep disturbances, anxiety and depression, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, osteopenia and osteoporosis, COPD, asthma, and cancer survivors.
I teach online classes. Contact me to book a yoga class or a coaching consultation.

#7. Money is a skill
Money is a good thing. Money makes life better, almost everything better.
Money is also a non-negotiable. You can’t choose not to play the money game. Money is how the world works.
Money is a skill. Both earning money and spending money.
The skill of earning money is called marketing. Money is a return gift. You earn money because of the change that you bring for someone else. No change, no money. No one else, no money.
Change is necessary but not sufficient to earn money. You need to create trust, enrolment and tension. You need to create a product or service that someone can buy or subscribe to. You need to create a path for them to enrol with you on the journey that you want to take them on. You need to create tension so that they can overcome their resistance or inertia and embrace the change that you are offering.
Even spending and investing money is a skill that very few people have mastered. This is the skill of asset allocation. How do you invest your money, time, energy, attention can have a significant impact on how you grow and how you live.
#6. Showing up!
Showing up is a skill. It is built with practice. By showing up, day after day after day.
Showing up is difficult because when we start there is no one we are showing up for.
And it’s so much easier to hide or put it off for another day.
Why write a blog today when no one will read it?
Why record a podcast today when no one will listen to it?
So we wait. We wait for people to show up. We wait for permission.
The culture of Instagram has made this worse.
The first thing we ask is how many views did our story or our reel get.
Is that relevant? Does that mean that our video was good?
If that’s the case, then pornographic content would be the highest quality content.
Hopefully, we agree that that is not the case.
So, how do we build this skill of showing up?
How do we counter the voice inside our head?
It’s simple but it is not easy.
Write the blog for the privilege of writing the blog,
Record the podcast to give your voice and your opinions a way out.
Keep doing that consistently, preferably daily.
What about the quality, you ask?
If you do it daily, you will learn through iteration,
you will keep getting better,
Moreover you will become aware of the things that you need to learn
You will become very specific about them…
Also, you will start noticing more.
You will start doing conscious consumption…
You will start picking up the best aspect from different creators and start adding them to your work.
If you write a blog daily, within 3 months, you’ll have almost a 100 entries.
So don’t worry about entry number 1, get to entry number 100 and then we can talk about how you can level up.
Can’t wait to see what you show up with.
See you soon.
#5. Must-haves and Good-to-haves
Casual commitments happen when something is good to have, not a must-have. We feel that it’s a must-have but still, we are not committed. A must-have is non-negotiable. The day can’t end without that happening. So, we can’t have too many must-haves.
For me, one must-have I have daily is my daily blog. Second is the writing hour, which is becoming a part of my day. It is simply a thing that I do. I think almost everything else is a good-to-have wanting to be a must-have.
Good-to-haves are good. They create guilt when we treat them like must-haves.
Yes, I want to play the guitar, start learning ruby on rails, read Ghalib, record a podcast daily, record a video daily, work out, practice dance, meditate twice a day, read for an hour, do the akimbo lessons, eat healthily.
Yes, I want to do them daily, but they are not must-haves. They can’t all be must-haves. And there is no point having them as must-haves in my mind. I have to think in terms of appetite. How many hours am willing to allocate to these activities?
Getting anything done takes time, energy, and attention. And we have limited amounts of them. So, we can’t just freely commit them to random tasks. That’s like using a credit card mindlessly to make purchases you don’t need and can’t afford. It makes sense to spend some time selecting things that you want to commit to.
There has to be a process to this. Even, rather especially, for personal tasks and hobbies. Because when it comes to work, somehow, we can be more mindful. But in terms of our personal time, we tend to be more mindless.

#3. People like us do things like these..
People like us do things like these.
Seth Godin uses these 7 words to explain marketing and numerous other things that happen in our lives. The challenge here is to find out ‘who people like us are’ and ‘what things like these’ are.
You are the average of 5 people you spend most time with.
This leads me to the age-old adage that everyone has heard but few know what to do with it: you are the average of 5 people you spend most time with.
This is one of the rare commonly known wisdom which is actually true. Your habits, your results, your bank balance, your waist line, your relationship status. A lot of these would come out to be very close to the average of the 5 people you hang out with most.
So, one way to change yourself would be to slowly but intentionally changing the people you spend time with.
#2 What do we want?
How to be more specific about what we want?
#1. Seeking Permission
Do you feel the need to seek permission before you start anything?
Here, I talk about how that was ingrained in us and what we can do to overcome this.
