Hey! Welcome to the Add More Mouse poddy cast, a show where two doofuses landlocked in Ohio with no access or insider news talk about Disney stuff. You found us! Episode 38: Disney’s Pocahontas - Fact and Fiction
Oh snap! It’s the Add More Mouse podcast and we’re starting a brand new miniseries! Since the beginning of the Disney company, the storytellers there have often looked to real events and people to base projects on, such as Davey Crocket, any of the 100 sports movies Disney has put out, or all the way back to Walt’s own project True-Life Adventures. But in Hollywood, real events often do not follow a traditional film’s three act structure, so writers and directors change the real stories in order to make them “more cinematic,” often while giving the audience a skewed idea of what really happened. We start our “Fact and Fiction” miniseries with 1995’s Pocahontas, the 33rd Animated Classic released by the studio. Your hosts dig into the burning questions audiences might have after seeing this film: Was Pocahontas real? Was her best friend a hummingbird? Did trees talk to people a few hundred years ago? The answers may (not) surprise you!

Well, it’s still winter time, and your hosts Dave and Mike both live in Ohio where it is cold, snowy, icy, windy, and grey...so what better time to sit down and fantasize about hanging out at Walt Disney World? On this episode of the Add More Mouse podcast, your hosts each pick three things they love to do when they’re at the parks with the caveat that these are not attractions or rides. Mike’s take place in the parks, and Dave’s take place outside of the parks, and honestly we don’t know if this will help you plan your next trip, we were just desperate to talk about warm weather activities. Hello and welcome back to The Add More Mouse podcast! Oh man, this is a big one! Dave interviews Karen Shriner, a professional singer and actor who has worked as a Cast Member for both Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line for over 14 years. In honor of the holiday season, they discuss Karen’s history of performing for Disney at the holidays, including her role in the annual Candlelight Processional. Dave also asks tons of questions about how she keeps her voice in shape when she’s singing all day everyday, and they discuss some of the Disney magic Karen has gotten to see up close. They also touch on the state of the parks in 2020 and the role live performance must continue to play in the future as the world plans to rebound from the global pandemic. In this episode, the boys close out their miniseries looking at Disney sequels and segue into whatever holiday magic they can scrounge from what remains of 2020 by looking at the first sequel to the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast - which happens to be an entry into Disney’s secular Christmas canon. Is it good? Why is the villain the only CGI character? Why is chip’s mom so old? Is this Tim Curry’s greatest performance? Have we lost our minds? Disney Bombs 2: The Rocketeer
Mike and Dave are back! Again! For the like the 25th time!
The boys are continuing their miniseries covering Disney films that bombed at the box office, but this is no "bad movie podcast." Mike and Dave are watching these movies that underperformed while in movie theaters to gain some new insight as to what went wrong. Are they actually bad? Were they ahead of their time? Were they mis-marketed? Are they hidden gems worth rediscovering, or should you skip them altogether?
This week they focus on the poorly received (yet seemingly adored in cult film circles) film The Rocketeer. Is it good? Is it bad? Were audiences right to stay away, or did they miss out on something truly cool that could have spawned sequels and a toy line? And why is the diner the Rocketeer hangs out in shaped like a dog's mouth?

Dave and Mike are back with the first episode in a 4 part miniseries delving into Disney Bombs. Did you that the Disney company doesn’t always just print money? They make mistakes sometimes! But we’re not interested in making fun of bad movies (well...we sort of do that). We’re taking a look at Disney movies that failed at the box office and try to figure out why. Were they really bad movies? Was the marketing wrong? Or are they good films that simply didn’t connect with an audience? In this episode we dig into The Black Cauldron, a Disney animated classic that no one really likes except Roger Ebert. Why do the characters look so weird? Why is the opening narration so brutal? Why are this magic pig’s powers so lame? Modern Family Went to DisneyLand, Too
OH WOW! We're back! Yes, Michael and I are still here, still alive, and still talking about ridiculous things.
We originally did a whole episode about our individual experiences through quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic, and then Zoom ate the audio file. In retrospect, that was probably for the best, because we were RUSTY. Now we're back again for the first time, talking about the tv episode that changed the world: the time Modern Family went to Disneyland. Ok, it didn't change the world, or much of anything. But we watched it, because we are committed to finishing this mini-series that has dragged on and on and on and on (and on).
The audio is a little wonky thanks to recording in a socially distant way, but we decided mediocre sounding content was better than no content. Hope you enjoy it as much as we liked making it.
