By Alex and Paula
Deep Space GayApr 27, 2022
87. Is that Riverdale related?! (Holiday Special)
Merry Crisis everyone!
Even though we have been notably absent in the past few months we couldn't not give you a round up of our year, personal and geek-wise. You may not have been waiting for this one, but come along anyway! We promise it's not just Alex hating on Multiverse of Madness again (will this become an annual tradition? We're definitely excited to find out!)
PS: We cannot promise yet to upload regulalry again but we can definitely try, there should be coming more your way next week!
086. It's a kinda Quiztime! (TNG: Will Riker)
Whatever you are expecting, this episode is not that. But we do definitely talk about the one and not only William Thomas Riker! If this is not the first episode you are listening to, you know that our love for Commander Riker knows no bounds, so feel free to experience it with our tired and exhausted selves! And in case you want to know a little more about Paula's job, this is the one for you.
If you want to swoon with us about this amazing man and his beard, you can hit us up on Instagram and Twitter @deep_space_gay or write us an email under deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
085. The Guarddog of the Galaxy (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - Part 2)
As we have already talked about the things we loved in the new Guardians movie, let's dive into the things we disliked. As usual, there will be spoilers! And a lot of shenanigans.
You can find Selina and her awesome videos on TikTok, Youtube and Instagram at @prol_x.
You can find us two idiots on Twitter and Instagram at @deep_space_gay and send us your hatemail to deep.space.gay@gmail.com. Toodles!
084. Sci-Fi Heebie Jeebies (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - Part 1)
We are back with our marvel shenanigans and as usual we have our great friend Selina with us.
This is part 1 of our Guardians 3 discussions, as we had a lot to say. Enjoy the ride!
You can find Selina and her awesome videos on TikTok, Youtube and Instagram at @prol_x.
You can find us two idiots on Twitter and Instagram at @deep_space_gay and send us your hatemail to deep.space.gay@gmail.com. Toodles!
083. 5 to 8 business years (TNG: First contact)
NOT the movie!
The alien is escaping and Riker is in trouble. After a recon mission turned badly, Riker ended up in an alien hospital close to death. The first mission contact of the Enterprise turns into a rescue mission with a lot of involuntary beaming and some very violent "doctors".
Also, how does Earth's political system(s) actually work in the future? A question we discuss with no definitive answer as we are not Star Trek actors who were briefed on this.
Our Twitter and Instagram is @deep_space_gay and our email is deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
082. Whatever happened to Korkie? (Mando Season 3)
Paula is asking the hard questions this episode as we review the third season of the Mandalorian. Spoilers ahead!
This season focussed a lot more an Mandalorian cultures and what could potentially unite Mandalorians. It also showed us why exactly they don't unite very often - looking at you, Axe and Paz! We had dragons, we had Jack Black, we had found family, we had space battles! Grab your blasters and join us in our review of the latest Mando season and our discussion on the future of the New Republic in times of Disney!
Also, spoilers for Star Wars: Rebels are discussed in this episode!
Our Instagram and Twitter is @deep_space_gay and our email is deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
81. Ambassadors of Gossip (TNG: Attached)
Is this one of our favorite episodes of TNG? Hear for yourself!
It's time for a good old discussion of a single ep, but this one in particular really has it all: a tragic romance, psychic connections, open conversation, a good amount of side eye, those lightning globe things you saw at the christmas market in 2009.. a dream!
If you too ship Beverly and Picard, you can tell us on instagram (and sometimes Twitter) @deep_space_gay or email us under deep.space.gay@gmail.com. Maybe we can start a support group?
080. She was a Monsterf*cker (Dr. Beverly Crusher)
If we forgot an important fact about Bev, you can contact us on Instagram and Twitter under @deep_space_gay or write us an email at deep.space.gay@gmail.com.
079. It's almost Brad Brad (Easter extravaganza!)
Happy Easter and magical bunnies to everyone!
We had a few characters left from our Christmas episode and decided to spend Easter with some of our favourite characters. And Clyden.
Instagram/Twitter: @deep_space_gay
E-Mail: deep.space.gay@gmail.com
078. It's Brad Brad! (right next to the moon moon)
We joked about it a couple of weeks ago, but now we are in it. There are more movies about the greatness of the US-American military than there is sand on the beach, so we wanted to take a closer look at the queer and oftentimes homoerotic subtext of such. For that we picked a movie and its sequel, Transformers and Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen. Jk! Of course we talked about TOP GUN and TOP GUN - MAVERICK! Happy first week of spring everyone!
Our Instagram and Twitter can be found at @deep_space_gay and our email adress is deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
077. It's Carpet!!! (TNG: Suspicions)
PS: We talk a bit about medical trauma and surgery/autopsy in this one, as it is depicted in the episode. Be safe if that triggers you in any way!
PPS: You can find us on Instagram and Twitter under @deep_space_gay or write us an email under deep.space.gay@gmail.com :)
76. Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, whatever (Antman: Quantummania)
If you haven't seen the film, be aware of spoilers! Or do it the way we did and have the plot explained to you by our amazing guest expert Selina. Because the two of us couldn't be bothered to leave the house for this movie, so we had Selina do it for us!
You can find her and her awesome videos on TikTok, Youtube and Instagram at @prol_x.
You can find our dumb asses on Twitter and Instagram at @deep_space_gay and send us your hatemail to deep.space.gay@gmail.com. Toodles!
075. Bathlet, honour, prune juice (TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise)
sooo, we are late with today's episode and that's because remembering stuff isn't our strong suit. Anyways.
We start out with a fun discussion about the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" and talk about the iconic moments, including Tasha's lipstick, Riker's falling and of course, the legendary prune juice! Then we drift off into the Delta Quadrat. We'll be back soon with our regular schedule, but times are busy at the moment. As a treat you get a longer episode though, so we're all winners today!
You can find us on Instagram and Twitter under @deep_space_gay and send us an email to deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
074. How evil? The evilest! (Star Wars: Andor Season 1)
073. Badass Buddies, that's right (Tasha Yar Time)
For the last time in this decades long year we are back with Star Trek shenanigans!
Tasha Yar is a badass who was taken from all of us too soon. She is cool, confident and sadly not slime-resistant. In this action filled episode Paula created a quiz Alex should have been better at answering and we collectively decided that it's a good thing for 2022 to be over. Join us for our fun little ride before jumping into our two weeks off.
Happy new year everyone and may the odds be ever in your favour!
Our e-mail is deep.space.gay@gmail.com and our social media is @deep_space_gay on both Instagram and Twitter.
072. It's gonna be Crisis!
We have a special gift for you and yes, it is related to our awesome audio editing skills. We also have a fun epsiode for you, full of yearly reviews, games and the very deep question as to why we all seem to have daddy issues.
Now strap on your antlers, get into your fuzzy sweater and let's have a fun time together!
If you feel like reaching out, you can find us on Instagram and Twitter @deep_space_gay or write us an e-mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com.
071. Thomas, derogatory (Lower Decks Season 3)
This episode is almost as wild as season 3 of Lower Decks itself! We share our likes, struggle with the internet connection and have an important discourse on the name Thomas. Also, toilet paper.
Paula's audio is a bit off for a couple of minutes in the first half, so don't be afraid, it's not your headphones or other audio outlet making the weird noises. It's Paula. She's clearly practicing how one can sound like a Star Wars-holo without actually having to go to space.
Honk honk, the email is deep.space.gay@gmail.com, and caw caw, Instagram and Twitter are @deep_space_gay!
no, we also don't know what happened here...
070. O'Brien's random moments (TNG: Legacy)
It's time to talk about the coolest security officer on the Enterprise (sorry Worf!), Tasha Yar.
To start with her character we picked an episode where she isn't in it because... you know... black slime bloop bloop...
Legacy is a Westside-Story-Esque episode about drama, trust and family where we meet Tasha's sister, Ishara. The Enterprise crew needs to rescue some officers and Data needs to learn a life lesson. And we desperately need more brain cells!
Our email-adress is deep.space.gay@gmail.com and our Instagram and Twitter can be found at @deep_space_gay!
069. The Gramp Stamp (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)
The latest Marvel project takes us back to Wakanda and continues the story of the Wakandan Royal Family after the death of the late Chadwick Boseman. We watched it in theatres and now have many, many thoughts, some smoart, some not so. Spoiler alert, this is a MCU movie both of us enjoyed a lot. We discuss the movie's themes, the farewell to King T'Challa and our thoughts on the whole Namor-Shuri-conflict. And yes, we also make fun of Martin Freeman. But that's because we love him!!
Also, Red Alert, spoilers ahead!
Send us your thoughts to deep.space.gay@gmail.com or on Twitter and Instagram at @deep_space_gay!
068. So if you meet Sauron... (Risa Travelling Journal)
Several holidays are coming up and it's time to plan the next shore leave. What better place for such an event is there than the wonderful deluxe planet of Risa. Before you travel there, you will need some tips on the best places to party at, great hiking tours, fun parks and the newest fashion to impress even your grumpiest CMO. Noone asked for this and yet here we are hear to deliver: Risa, a travelling journal!
If you want to know more about the exciting sights to see or need some feedback on your latest dinner outfits, we are happy to assist. Just shoot us a quick message on Instagram or Twitter under @deep_space_gay or send us an e-mail to deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
067. Too many expectations, no resource (She-Hulk)
If you want to present us with all the arguments of why our opinions are a hundred percent wrong, you can do so on Twitter and Instagram @deep_space_gay or you can write us an e-mail @deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
066. I'm gonna write a sketch about not taking drugs (A Fistful of Datas)
We watched one of Paula’s favourite episodes, A Fistful of Datas. This episode got cowboys, it got open hand slaps, it got flute playing, and it got some cat poetry! A perfect TNG episode that had to be talked about!!
Our email-address is deep.space.gay@gmail.com and our Instagram and Twitter is deep_space_gay
065. I'm not a big fan of slushies (Ms. Marvel)
If you'd like to be part of the discussion, you can find us on Twitter and Instagram under deep_space_gay or write us an E-Mail @ deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
064. Hey, he's your cha'Dich
It's Worf's universe and we are simply living in it. In this Klingon centered episode we discuss the great warrior and ... could be worse but still isn't good father and complex man that is our favorite Klingon, Worf Rozhenko, son of Morgh, father of Alexander, Merry Man of Sherwood Forest. After Paula gives us a compremised summary of his life, she quizzes us on the greatest warriors out there. With surprising success on Alex's part!
Our email adress is dee.space.gay@gmail.com and our Social Media is deep_space_gay on both Twitter and Instagram.
63. A Dad-ification and a Daddyfication (SNW)
As you probably gathered from the title, we're talking about Strange New Worlds, Star Trek's newest show!
The adventures of Spock's bad haircut, a big bunch of lesbians, their dad and a moustache filled us with happiness, but also with a lot of tears and misery because of *that* episode. Due to low capacities in the brain-power department we started out with some smart things to say and then drifted off into the delta quadrant... Enjoy!
Email: deep.space.gay@gmail.com
62. It's the Circle of Shame (TNG: Sins of the Father)
If you have anything to say about Klingon grammar, culture or politics, you can talk to us on Instagram and Twitter where we're @deep_space_gay or write us an e-mail under deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
061. He has a cave, Alex, excuse me?! (Kenobi Show Review)
How did this happen, we're smarter than this.
We watched Kenobi and enjoyed it immensely. Some of it was great, some of it was on shaky foundations and some of it was just meme-worthy. Join us in our mental decay, cause that's all that is left...
Our email is deep.space.gay@gmail.com and you can find us on Instagram and on Twitter at @deep_space_gay
060. Aluminium Death Cube (TNG: Thine Own Self - Season 7 ep. 16)
Data lost his marbles and Deanna tries to level up: It is time for TNG's "Thine Own Self"!
While Data's data is all scrambled and he is stuck in a primitive society with sexy hats, Deanna tries to conquer engineering and get a promotion. In this episode we have Techno babble, we have soup opinions- and most importantly - we make fun of people with hats.
Our email is deep.space.gay@gmail.com and our social media is deep_space_gay on both Instagram and Twitter!
059. Toodles! (Comic Talk)
If you want to add to the discussion or just say hi, you can find us on Instagram and Twitter at @deep_space_gay or wirte us an e-mail under deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
058. Are you also so ausgebrandenburgt? (TNG: Deanna)
You can find us on Instagram and Twitter under deep_space_gay and also write us an E-Mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
057. Women in STEM, amazing! (Thor: Love AND Thunder)
Oh no, we're perishing!
Together with our Marvel expert and super dooper cool friend Selina we talked about the latest Marvel movie, Thor 4: More Thor.
We spoke with her about our cinema experiences and she shares her time at the fanscreening where actresses and a certain director of the film made an appearance. We dive into our likes and dislikes and spent quite some time ranting about Disney's (once again) queerbaiting.
Selina is very active on Social Media and uploads fandom-related videos and edits on TikTok and Youtube under @prol_x! She posts about Marvel, DC and more, so go check her out and share our love for her work!!!
Our email is, still and never changing, deep.space.gay@gmail.com and our Instagram and Twitter handle is @deep_space_gay!
056. Could be a Telenovela (TNG 1x11: Haven)
It's time for us to meet "the Auntie Mame of the Galaxy" and her amazing, forcesensitive and kindhearted daughter. Is everyone ready for the two Troi women that rule the galaxy and our hearts?!
We talk about "Haven", TNG S1 ep 11. It's the one where Deanna meets her fiancé and where Jean-Luc Picard meets the woman that will haunt his waking hours for as long as they are in the same sun-system. Let the annual Lwaxana Troi episodes begin!
Our Instagram and Twitter is @deep_space_gay and our email is deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
055. Father! You missed it! (Picard Season 2)
It's been a long time coming, but we finally talked about Picard Season 2! As always, there was some discussion about our likes and dislikes, but we also talked about the show's new concept, the consequences of this season on Star Trek as a whole and of course, the weather.
If you have any thoughts about Picard Season 2, hit us up in Twitter and Instagram @deep_space_gay or write us an E-Mail under deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
054. Bitch, he is self-aware (TNG: Meassure of a Man)
These are the questions TNG's episode "Meassure of a Man" tries to answer. As Data's fate is threatened by everyones' worst enemy, Bruce Maddox, we are cheering on Picard in his work to prove Data's sentience and value as a lifeform. As "Meassure of a Man" is probably one of the most famous and most well received Star Trek episodes, we absolutely had to discuss it. Not only do we talk about the ethical rammifications of being alive, we also discuss the importance of friendship and home, and our knowledge of military organizations (it's slim!).
The work Alex is quoting at the end of the episode is "The measure of a man?: Asimov's bicentennial man, star trek's data, and being human" by Sue Short (2003). It's an interesting read about the parallels between Data and Asimov's bicentennial man, and it sets Data in the context of earlier writings of science fiction and their understanding of AI and android lifeforms.
You can find us on Instagram and Twitter @deep_space_gay or send us an e-mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com.
Short, S. (2003). The measure of a man?: Asimov's bicentennial man, star trek's data, and being human. Extrapolation (Pre-2012), 44(2), 209.
053. No Perosonal Agenda (TNG: Data)
If you want to reach out to us:
052. Trainwreck of the Deutsche Bahn (FedCon 2022 Recap - Part 2)
We also talk about all the stuff we got and all the stuff we lost millions of euros too, in our continued quest to own as much fandom merchandise as humanly possible!
You can find pictures of the weekend and all the swag we aquired on Twitter and Instagram at @Deep_Space_Gay. You can also send us your thoughts via email at deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
We were lucky enough to talk to Jedi-Bibliothek and Jedipedia again. You can find the Jedi-Bibliothek on Twitter at @Jedi-Bibliothek and on their website at jedi-bibliothek.de, whereas Jedipedia can be found on Twitter at @jedipedia and on their website, jedipedia.net. They also have a podcast called JediCast, if you are interested in all things Star Wars!
If you wanna check out the awesome Imperial Officer who helped us with the Jedipedia quiz and then kidnapped us to the empire, check him out on Instagram @allgaeu_trooper!
051. Boomer Humour (Fedcon 2022 Recap - Part 1)
We left our house, our city and our normal lives behind for a weekend full of shenanigans in Bonn, at Fedcon 30! This Sci-Fi and Sci-Fantasy convention has everything the fan heart needs, from seminars and workshops by fans for fans, to professionals from ESA and other organisations giving presentations and Q&As, and of course, to a lot of our favourite acting people from Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who!
The weekend was a long one and we did so much that we thought it best to sit down and do a recap. Originally planned as a 60 minutes episode, we talked for almost three hours and decided to devide our conversation into two episodes. This one is about our first one and a half days at Fedcon, about the panels we listened to, the fotosessions we were in, and a few of the friendly and awesome people we met there. We have Jonathan Frakes, we have Ian Alexander, we have Michelle Hurd, we have Christopher Eccleston, we have so many more!
We also met some awesome peops from Jedi-Bibliothek, a German team that informs about the Star Wars universe in its literature form (and other Star Wars news), and peops from Jedipedia, the German Star Wars wiki No.1.
We can be found on Instagram and Twitter under @deep_space_gay and you can write us emails at deep.space.gay@gmail.com. We also answer to DMs on social media, though, as we are not over 40 and therefore not entirely reliant on emails.
050. Does he have dementia?
Happy Birthday to Deep Space Gaaay, Happy Birthday to Deep Space Gaaay, Happy Birthday dear Space Gays, Happy Birthday to Deep Space Gaaaaaay!
It's episode 50 and it's time to look back! We watched a lot of stuff over the last (checks calendar) 18 months - since Wandavision started - and we ask ourselves the mostest importantest question of them all: Does it hold up? Or is it retrospectively a flop?
Similar to all teenager-magazines from the early 2000s, we look at every newly released project that we talked about on this podcast and reflect on it's coolness-factor, it's impact on culture and most importantly, hot or flop?
Our email adress is deep.space.gay@gmail.com and our Instagram and Twitter is @deep_space_gay!!
049. Sadness Rant (Multiverse of Madness: Part 2)
Again: A very big thanks to our dear friend Selina who joined us for these 2 episodes
048. Strange Happenings (Multiverse of Madness: Part 1)
PS: This episode got so long that we split it in two, so catch the next part in one week! (Since we're on a weekly uploading schedule right now)
If you want to have an enchanting conversation about the multiverse or just say hi, you can write us an E-Mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com or find us on Instagram and Twitter under @deep_space_gay.
047. Dead Pidgeon Gang (MCU: Moon-Knight)
We watched Moon-Knight and loved it, so now, of course, we have to talk about it. Not only are we absolutely in love with Oscar Isaac (as you are contractually obligated as a human being - or alien, we don't judge!), we also loved the idea of the show, the fun costumes and the heartwrenching trauma that hurt us all deeply. If you watched the show and now want to hear our thoughts on it, congratulations, you can!
Our Instagram and Twitter handle is @deep_space_gay and our e-mail-adress is deep.space.gay@gmail.com. We look forward to your thoughts and input!
046. Eminus Eminitis (Sony's Morbius)
It's time for another Marvel themed episode: Morbius (2022)! This masterpiece of auditory art is right on par with the tone and quality of the movie we're discussing (and so is the sound quality, because what are microphones if not traitors). So let's get ready for a calm and well thought out discussion, absolutely no instances of your hosts dissolving into laughter and many philosophical questions answered about this well thought out plot.
If you too want to discuss Morbius or just want to chat you can find us on Twitter and Instagram under @deep_space_gay or write us an e-mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
045. Our buildings aren't human shaped (ST: Discovery Season 4 Review)
Hello fellow huuu-mans, we are back with a new episode about new Trek! The latest season of Discovery explored the best and worst the Discovery crew had to offer and asked the viewer a lot of important questions about the fate of the galaxy. We ask ourselves similar questions and review Season 4 of the show. We also talk about B- and C-plots we enjoyed this season and philosphize about finding your own path and passions. Also, there is rambling about superhero shows and discussion on Twilight characters, as we got sidetracked, as usual!
You can find us under @deep_space_gay on Twitter and Instagram and also send us your thoughts, if you want to and feel social enough to do so, at deep.space.gay@gmail.com!
044. A Great Organizator (TNG: The Offspring)
If you want to chat with us about Data, you can find us on Twitter and Instagram (@deep_space_gay) and we have also an email adress (deep.space.gay@gmail.com), so feel free to reach out!
043. Romulan Federation Nation Cooperation Nation (TNG: The Next Phase)
We're talking TNG's The Next Phase while waiting for the oscars to start! We chose The Next Phase because Geodi La Forge plays a central role in it and also Ensign Ro... cause you know, gay.
We talk about the plot of the episode, wonder about the superpowered floors of the Enterprise and even get struck by the God of prophecies, as we also discuss the often seen full hand slapping technique that is used in 80s and 90s Star Trek!
We have Twitter and Instagram (@deep_space_gay) and we have an email adress (deep.space.gay@gmail.com), if you want to see what we are up to when we are not recording or if you have any input!
042. Rising from Slow to Fast (TNG: Geordi La Forge)
As always, there's also a little quiz to test our Star Trek knowledge, which Alex passed with flying colors, even though Paula gave everything to make up the most convincing Technobabble. So if you're ready for all that and some top notch rambling about pink washing and a certain new movie that your two hosts had to suffer through, then let's get into it!
You can tell us about astrophysics and engineering via E-Mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com
or follow us on Instagram and Twitter under @deep_space_gay
for memes, silliness, fanart and more!
041. The Equeerlizer (Marvel's New Mutants Movie)
Can a horse eat you?
This and other questions are answered in this episode, concerning both life and Marvel's failure of a movie, New Mutants. One of the questions definitely is: WHY?
We would give you a spoiler warning, but no-one saw this film or plans on ever watching it, so don't worry. Just strap in and enjoy the ride, you won't miss out on anything by not having seen it!
After drunkenly stumbling through the synopsis of the film we make our way through our like(s?) and dislikes, while getting distracted by every single thought we have. We have to warn you, this episode might be considered unlistenable! Nevertheless we had a great time and talked shop about many of our favourite characters out there, our gay awakenings and the biggest question of them all: How long can we talk about nothing?
If you have thoughts on the film or want to congratulate us for surviving the New Mutants endeavor, you can send us an e-mail at deep.space.gay@gmail.com. We are also on Twitter and Instagram, under @deep_space_gay! Toodles!
040. OMG! It's Kate! (Hawkeye series)
Our 40th episode covers one of the recent MCU projects: the Hawkeye show! We were happy to talk about a series we enjoyed after a tough start to the year. Also: we might have ranted a bit about one of the upcoming German "cultural holidays", so if you're interested in hearing Paula despair over carnival (Fasching), then here you go!
Don't forget to tell us your thoughts on the episode or Hawkeye in general:
Send us an email at deep.space.gay@gmail.com,
if you want to see memes and more, find us on Twitter and Instagram (@deep_space_gay)!
039. Grey sadness, all day (TNG: Coming of Age)
We are back with TNG! This episode was supposed to be last episode, but January has been a long decade and we mixed up a few things on accident.
We talk about an episode whose A and B storyline couldn't be more different, and find a lot of joy in talking about the boy with the many sweaters, Mr. Wesley Crusher. In "Coming of Age" he takes the Starfleet Academy exam for the first (and not the last) time. Not only do we discuss the tests he has to participate in, no, we also talk about the ... checks notes... start of a "controlled by space insects Illuminati-esk conspiracy in Starfleet"-storyarc that leads to an interesting (?) season finale of season 1!
If you want to talk to us, feel free to send us an email at deep.space.gay@gmail.com, orrrr, if you want to see memes and more, find us on Twitter and Instagram (@deep_space_gay)!
038. Picard gets married to the colony? (TNG: The Masterpiece Society)
The New Year's stress may have already gotten to us, but that's no reason not to talk about Star Trek! This week we tackled The Masterpiece Society and took a look at how the future deals with disabilty and genetically engineered humans. We both had quite a bit to say about this one and may have drifted into a philosophical discussion or two.
If you want to add to that discussion:
You can send us an email at deep.space.gay@gmail.com
Or find us on Twitter and Instagram @deep_space_gay
