In this interview, I sit down with Futurist Kevin Benedict to explore the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its far-reaching impacts across various industries and business processes.

I recently joined Dr. Gopal Gupta, professor of computer science at The University of Texas at Dallas with expertise in AI/ML in a panel about Generative AI hosted by Raj Asava as part of his WeGyan Series. Prof. Gupta explains the emergence of generative AI, noting its reliance on large datasets and advanced computing power. He describes it as a new paradigm in AI, emphasizing example-driven search over traditional search methods. He highlights the technology's limitations, particularly its lack of reasoning and potential for errors. I discuss the widespread integration of AI in various industries and personal life, citing examples of AI's efficiency in tasks like transcribing notes and planning trips. I predict future developments, such as large vision models, and discuss AI's role in both cyber attacks and defense. I also mention the potential for AI to improve its capabilities through self-learning methods. The session touches on concerns about AI's reliability and misuse, like deepfakes. Both of us agree that while generative AI has significant potential,Prof. Gupta asserted that its current limitations, especially in reasoning, restrict its applications primarily to creative fields. On the other hand I foresee AI becoming more embedded in daily technology and improving in functionality for all kinds of professions but caution against overestimating its current capabilities. In conclusion, Raj reflects on AI's role as a personal assistant and its potential for anticipatory actions based on user preferences. Hi! In this clip I share my September Futurist Minute at the ABTP DFW September chapter meeting. 

This is is something I do every month in my role as Futurist, Storyteller on the ABTP DFW Board. 

I start off by thanking my preceding keynote speaker Dr. Raymond Pele who delivered an interesting talk (interspersed with song) on the similarities between music and teams. My Futurist Minute focused on the 5 new Human Truths that have emerged post Covid (as highlighted by Accenture).

Deepak Seth speaks to members of Ghaziabad Management Association (GMA) on the imperatives of Digital Transformation esp. in context of the Covid pandemic and how Innovation can leverage some ancient Indian philosophies which are still very relevant for today and the future. 

GMA, based in the industrial city of Ghaziabad near New Delhi,India  is an important forum in that city for  business executives and other members to share their experiences and ideas to further the cause of management. GMA strives for management expertise that can synthesize Indian ethos with international management thought and practices since its inception. The talk is primarily in English interspersed with some Hindi.

Digital Transformations at many companies are leaving in their wake - burnt out or out-of-work humans. Some have started accepting it as an obvious corollary or byproduct. But is that really so ?  Can an astute C-suite and thoughtful CIO digitally transform their organizations while retaining their essential "humaneness"/"humanity"?  Deepak in conversation with Lorna McDowell and John O'Boyle of Xenergie  share some of their own experiences which led them to conclude that Human+Digital makes more sense than Digital alone for delivering lasting value and growth. The journey has its ups and downs but is one well worth embarking upon  

Some really interesting perspectives on how to be future-ready, individual values versus the leader values, the culture of the organisation and interlinking the goals of both the public and the organisation together. We must reflect, accept the need to change, and lean in! Lastly, this transformation only works if we work together.

However many struggle to make the transition from the "legacy" to the "new".  This talk looks at how organizations - people, process and technologies need to be reconfigured to realize the full potential of digital innovation. Covid19 pandemic has upended the world as we knew it. Technology professionals have been a key part of the response and will also play a key role in the recovery efforts. However, the rules of the game as we know it have changed. Great fun being interviewed by  DFW area's leading  podcaster Ryan Harper.  An unstructured, freewheeling conversation that journeys through many facets of  Disruption and Innovation.  Why it is often so scary and how can we and companies deal with it. Blockchain, AI, IOT, Bitcoin, Mixed Reality all make their appearance as does the cotton gin, Luddites, weaving loom, electric bulb , parenting in world of AI/ smartphones and origins of elevator music. Oh yes, my tandem skydive from 10,000 feet too.  I made my best effort to strip away all the geekspeak from very complex technical topics. (Sorry, tech purists!)  Hope you all will enjoy this as much as we did putting it together.

Being ready to metaphorically jump off a plane seems to be a key requirement to deal with the rapid pace of technological and organizational change. Discomfort is the new comfort zone, and individuals as well as teams must learn to adapt to that.

The role of the CIO today extends beyond technology and information services. The mantra in business today is Disrupt or Die. CIOs are perfectly positioned to blend their knowledge of the business with how technology can be harnessed to reimagine the business and transform the customer experience.
