Part 2 - Talking about Adoption and the Search for Birth Parents - An Interview with Jared Sartell
In Part 2, of a two part series, we interview Jared Saretell, a mental health professional who has been working with adolescents and families dealing with disruption because of issues often around adoption. Jared shares several examples from his work, and helps the listener understand how best to approach these topics. If you are adopted, or an adoptive parent, or close to an adoption, you will find the topics discussed to be very valuable.  Some of the questions asked include: What can adoptive parents do to support their children in the search for birth parents.  What opportunities for growth are there?  How can you set boundaries and protections to keep your child safe? How can an adoptee or person prepare themselves for the journey of finding a birth parent or family.  What are the pit falls or issues that can come up?  How should a person talk to their adopted parents or guardians about their desire to locate their bio parents or family?
