Does the Reconstruction Era (1865-1877) change American History?
Alot of the problems we run into today stem from a unilateral understanding of American History. How then are we suppose to look at American History for truth? We take a look quickly at the Reconstruction Era to highlight how this can be done in practice going forward.
Would you stand up to bigotry and false narratives? Lets look at Slavery in American History!
People say some out of this world statements. In the study of American History, I find no better place to address this question than by looking at the Antebellum time period through Reconstruction and "American Slavery". I want to be confident that most of us would stand up and correct false narratives, but is that Utopian in thought? How do we get people to engage respectfully against statements that just drive you mad with anger? Lets take a look at how all of this goes down!
American Slavery Series Part 1: The pre-Civil War information
The reality is that looking at Slavery from a solely Civil War perspective doesn't cover the entire notion. IN this podcast we will look at the Economics of Slavery in America and how Manifest Destiny greatly contributed to the spread of this horrible institution. Remember, being uncomfortable is okay, but we need to get to the bottom of our History and begin to tell the true story of America so we can make a better future for all!
How do we re-write American History? Do "Heroes" stay or go?
We are seeing a massive push to re-writing American History and ridding ourselves of the negative actions (people more specifically). The real question is what purpose does this serve? Today, we take a look at the case of George Washington, our fearless Founding Father and ask ourselves these same questions. Does our hypothesis for change hold up?
