Prior to Congress, he served three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. In 2020, he was appointed by President Trump to the 1776 Commission to better enable a rising generation to understand the history and principles of the founding of the United States. He was also appointed to the Defense Science Board, Permanent Task Force on Threat Reduction for the Department of Defense. He is currently the Executive Director of the Council for National Policy.
