Film Festival Secrets | Dare to Dream Productions Podcast Ep. 3

Film Festival Secrets | Dare to Dream Productions Podcast Ep. 3

How do you get into film festivals? Here are some secrets to success from local filmmaker, David Bradburn, who runs the Von Steuben Film Festival. We dive deep into how to make yourself stand out to judges and how to write a cover letter.

Whether he’s serving as writer, producer or director, Bradburn wants to do more than just make movies: he seeks partnerships with other local film makers to put Chicago on the map as the premier independent film making city. Bradburn’s directorial approach draws on his 20 years worth of experience as a high school English teacher: his leadership and focus inspire his crew’s motivation to realize his creative vision.  Bradburn’s films include “Home”, “The Night Before The Morning After”, “Superhero Me”, a finalist in the 2012 Beverly Hills Film Fest Writing Competition, My Brother’s Other Mother – a documentary chronicling his younger brother’s search for his birth mother in the Dominican Republic, and “The Coming of Age” which was written by Northwestern University’s Film Department Chair, Dave Tolchinsky.

His current films include “Before You Woke”, “Rockabye”. His current film “Family” is doing well on the festival circuit including playing at the San Diego International Film Festival. Bradburn’s films have appeared in over a four dozen film festivals, cable, and PBS.  He has worked in the commercial, corporate, network and independent film worlds. When not on set, he spends most of his time working and planning and thinking about being — back on set.
