BEST OF THE DUDE AND THE BRO: JOE ROGAN INTERVIEWS MICHAEL OSTERHOLM ABOUT COVID-19
While the Dude and the Bro take some time off in the summer, enjoy an episode that was recorded in March of 2020 right in the thick of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Thanks for your continued support and we plan to be back with a brand new season and brand new reviews starting again in July!
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard
This week the Dude and the Bro discuss the fascinating podcast from Dax Shepard and co-host Monica called "Armchair Expert." On this episode, we hyper-focus on a recent show on a segment they often do called "Armchaired and Dangerous" which is a fun show that discusses the mind blowing concept of "Simulation Theory" with friend of the show David Farrier.
When one thinks of "Simulation Theory" the easiest explanation is to describe the movie "The Matrix." But Simulation Theory is really just a branch of a common philosophical concept called Existentialism essentially.
We talk about Armchair Expert as a show in general and the Dude and the Bro wax poetic about life, simulation theory, and existentialism! A conversation you won't want to miss!

Crushed
This week we discuss a new offering from PDX Public Radio and Sportswriter Joan Niesen entitled, "CRUSHED." The Crushed Podcast takes us into the seedy underbelly of Major League Baseball's infamous STEROID scandal in the late 1990's centering around specifically the Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa homerun race of 1998.
Perhaps, a conversation that the Dude and the Bro have been salivating to talk about, we examine what actually constitutes "cheating" in professional sports, and is performance enhancing drugs even considered cheating?
Crushed is a fascinating look into the challenging ethical dilemmas that plague professional sports considering there is a ton of money and stakes on the line. To the fame and fortune, flash in the pan careers, and the injuries, substance abuse, and death of it all, 'Crushed' asks and examines those tough aspects of Baseball.

Barstool Sports Presents: The Case
When we heard that the folks at Barstool Sports were producing a "TRUE CRIME" podcast, our interest immediately was peaked. When we heard it was going to be hosted by sports broadcaster, Kirk Minihane, we immediately went to review it. "The Case. [season one: boston]" has us to retracing the steps of the disappearance of 16-year-old of Jennifer Fay of Brockton Massachusetts in 1989. Kirk Minihane revisits this cold case as it hits home for him being a Boston native and contemporary of Jennifer Fay.
Is this just another a run of the mill true crime show that has oversaturated the podcast-sphere? Or, does the Midas touch of Barstool compounded with the chops of Minihane make this a harrowing and compelling tale of a cold case with unsavory characters that lead you to more unsavory characters as you peel Boston's worst onion back and back? (perhaps that was a tell). Listen along as the Dude and the Bro give their take on this offering from Barstool.

Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan
This week The Dude and the Bro review a brand new show that falls in the vane of TRUE CRIME, HISTORY, MYSTERY, and HORROR all in one show. And that is, "Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagen." On this show, we focus on the very first episode Daisy produces entitled "The Watcher House." Strange and Unexplained takes us back to a creepy true to life story of a family that moves into their dream house in a non descript rural New Jersey town and begins to get mysterious letters from what is apparently and obviously a local stalker.
Strange and Unexplained encompasses fascinating true stories that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. But who is Daisy Eagan? Who is the target audience for this show and who is the brand of humor supposed to be for that is awkwardly woven in? The Dude and the Bro explore that and much more this week as we review this new podcast that is blowing up the charts.

Joe Rogan Finally Comments on the Deleted Episodes Controversy
On a recent episode of the Spotify iteration of "The Joe Rogan Experience," Joe Rogan comments briefly on about the 42 or so episodes that Spotify has refused to carry in its catalogue. This has sparked a tremendous amount of speculation and conjecture from fans and media folks alike about the motivations of Spotify and the large $100 million dollar media deal that the streaming media titan has made with the beloved giant of podcasting. Even after some of the long awaited addressing of the 1000lb elephant in the room, there still remains a ton of questions as to why the episodes have been deleted. Did Joe Rogan have a part in it, and what was the true nature of the $100 Million dollar deal? The Dude and The Bro discuss this in detail.

No Agenda
This week we discuss the No Agenda Podcast. Hosted by legendary former MTV VJ (Video Jockey for those millennials) Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak who is a legend in the tech and computing field in his own-right. The show seems to have a very unique cult appeal to it as Curry and Dvorak seek to peak behind the curtain of what they consider a main stream media narrative pulling the levers. The No Agenda team have successfully built their own pirate ship sailing the choppy waters that is the 21st century media landscape, but do they steer the ship too far course at times? The Dude and Bro discuss this and much more on this episode.

Sleep With Me
This week the Dude and the Bro discuss a phenom of a show taking the Podcast-Sphere by storm: "SLEEP WITH ME" This podcast has a mission of helping people with insomnia, those whose mind races at night, and people that have worries and anxiety fall asleep at night. The show tells a bedtime story and purports to get more "boring" as it meanders on. Said plainly, it is designed to help you fall asleep. That's it. However, Is there science behind this? Is this a show for you? We discuss the SLEEP WITH ME podcast!

Comedy Gold Minds with Kevin Hart
This week the Dude and the Bro discuss a new Sirius XM Radio show turned podcast Comedy Gold Minds with Kevin Hart. Each episode, Philadelphia native Kevin Hart interviews some of the biggest names still going in Comedy. For our review, we focus on the Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Burr episodes. In a "PODCAST-SPHERE" where there aren't too many funny shows, is Comedy Gold Minds the gold standard? Is Kevin Hart too saturated in the entertainment world? Is there too much comedian "inside baseball" being discussed. The Dude and the Bro dive into all of those questions and more....

Renegades: Born in the USA
Wow, iconic music legend Bruce Springsteen gets together with former President of the United States Barack Obama to record a series of conversations about their lives, music, race, politics, and the state of affairs of the United States. When we saw this podcast launch, if for nothing else, we were intrigued by what this show would entail. If you are a fan of Bruce Springsteen and President Obama this is unprecedent access to some really intimate thoughts, if you are not a fan of Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama, then ....this is unprecedented access some really intimate thoughts. The Megyn Kelly Show: Adam Carolla on COVID Madness, AOC, and Whether He'll Leave California
The Dude and the Bro react to Adam Carolla's recent appearance on the Megyn Kelly Show. Is Carolla being too critical of many teachers and their respective unions holding up our children returning to the classroom? Also, his take on Cancel Culture as we know it, and is AOC's harrowing details of the Jan 6th Capitol riots something that we should commend or empathize with?

The Edge: Houston Astros
On this episode, The Dude and The Bro discuss the podcast: The Edge: Houston Astros. As the Superbowl has now came and went, the glimmer of sports hope weighs on the emergence of Pitchers and Catchers reporting to Spring Training. What better way to get ready for the Baseball Season than discussing Baseball! The Edge, season one, takes us behind the scenes of sports reporter Ben Reiter who famously predicted that the last place Houston Astros would win the world series YEARS before it happened. "The Edge" is the method and mantra that the organization bestowed throughout it from a top-down organizational philosophy. But did that win at all cost and get an "edge" by any means manifest itself into the cheating scandal? This scandal rocked the baseball world following the Astros dominating performances in its subsequent seasons after a history dismal outing the seasons before. The Edge attempts to answer that question.

Crime Analyst
This week The Dude and the Bro discuss the new podcast hosted by world renowned (Scotland Yard's) Criminal Behavioural Analyst, Laura Richards. You may recognize Laura Richards from another popular show REAL CRIME PROFILE with former FBI analyst Jim Clemente and Lisa Zambetti (casting director of CBS's Criminal Minds.) Laura Richards has the bonafides of a true victimology expert. Therefore, you are not just getting a schlubby duo in their garage recounting a cold case. It is REAL expert analysis.
Crime Analyst takes us behind the scenes of the very real and tragic case of the "Yorkshire Ripper." Currently there is a popular documentary series entitled "Ripper" that has grown in popularity running concurrently on the streaming site. However, Crime Analyst and Laura Richards takes us behind the scenes and give us a perspective that few Real Crime shows give us; from the perspective of the victim and their family.
Not only is Laura Richards an expert in her field, she also wears her heart on her sleeve and her passion for victims and victims rights shines through in her work. Check out our show, then give Crime Analyst a listen!

The Adam Carolla Show: Dr. Drew Shares his Covid Experience
Out of the gate here in 2021 The Dude and The Bro discuss the "Guiness Book of World Records" most downloaded podcast in the world, The Adam Carolla Show. In his "State of the Union(Show)" address, Adam lays out some surprising news about the direction of the show. The next day, Adam interviews his career long co-host Dr. Drew Pinsky about his experience suffering with the Corona virus SARS Covid-19.
Dr. Drew had been under fire in the zeitgeist this year for sort of being skeptical and downplaying the hype surrounding the pandemic. Many people have ridiculed Dr. Drew by taking pleasure and saw it as cosmic justice that Dr. Drew had been infected. However, Dr. Drew offers some interesting takes on how the illness has effected him and describes some of the neurological effects it has had on him.
Most importantly, Dr. Drew offers some interesting advice on what to do if you think you have been infected with Covid. Adam and Drew point out that there are a variety of effective therapeutics and fantastic medications that have been implemented to treat Covid patients that are not being discussed in the mainstream media. Also, the latest on the dust up between David Allan Grier and Adam & Drew
What is the direction of the Adam Carolla podcasts? Has Trump fatigue had an impact on the show? Has Carolla's political opinions caused a rift between his co hosts Bald Bryan Bishop and News girl Gina Grad?
The Dude and The Bro flush this out..

But even more bizarre, the missing episodes remain a mystery, nor has Joe Rogan addressed where and why these have disappeared from the catalogue. Nice White Parents By Serial and the New York Times
We're back for our 5th season of the Dude and the Bro Podcast! This week we take on the highly controversial and lightning rod of a podcast, "Nice White Parents." The show is an endeavor taken upon by Serial's Chana Joffe-Walt. Nice White Parents exposes the bizarre segregated aspects of the New York City School system and how affluent parents are complicit in its dysfunction. The title in itself invokes much controversy and ruffles a few feathers on many sides of the political spectrum. Has Serial exposed another miscarriage of justice? Or, has the New York Times editorial staff continue to go down the road of out of touch left wing dogma? The Dude and the Bro dig in here.

Sword & Scale
Finally, The dynamic 'Dude-Bros' discuss and review one of the most pre-eminent True Crime podcasts in the entire Podcast-sphere. Mike Boudet's "Sword & Scale" is a highly produced and engineered audio podcast experience that takes the listener documentary style through some of the recent, most horrific, violent criminal stories known to man. The True Crime stories that Sword and Scale convey truly lend credence to their tag line, "The Worst Monsters are Real" In this episode, we focus on a more recent episode #167 on the murderous nanny Yoselyn Ortega, and discuss what I consider the classic episodes of #4 Jessica Ridgeway case and the most disturbing episode known to man #20 the case of puppeteer Ronald William Brown.
***Warning*** This is the first episode of the Dude and Bro where we warn our listeners of the disturbing content that is being discussed and that the issues and materials being discussed on this show may not be suitable for children under 14 years old as a result

With all of the craziness going on with Covid-19 and the upcoming political election, we thought it be remiss if we didn't have our own discussion of everything that is going on.Although many of us don't perfectly align on some of the most pressing issues of the day, what we should agree on is to keep having civil discourse amongst our friends, relatives, and neighbors.

Guru: The Dark Side of Enlightenment
This week the Dude and the Bro discuss Wondery's latest offering, "Guru: The Dark Side of Enlightenment." In 2009, three people died while many others were injured in a sweat lodge during a physically exhorting "self help" seminar lead by an Oprah Winfrey endorsed so called "Guru" James Arthur Ray. The tragedy blew the lid off of the exploitative side of the multi billion dollar self help industry. Hosted by journalist Matt Stroud, Guru takes a deep dive examining the seedy underbelly that still is surprisingly, James Arthur Ray.
If you are enjoying the Guru podcast, in segment two, the Dude and the Bro recommend Wondery's "Real Crime Profile" Hosted by highly skilled FBI and Scotland Yard criminal profilers, Real Crime Profile is examining James Arthur Ray and is a wonderful companion piece to Guru.

New York Times' Tech columnist Kevin Roose attempts to take us through and navigate the mysterious algorithms of YouTube and other social media platforms to investigate their effects on our society and culture. Who should be in charge of doing so? And, when does it bleed into silencing opinions we merely do not like?

Dr. Drew & Adam Carolla Take a Controversial Stance on Covid-19
On this episode, The Dude and The Bro have a spirited discussion about The Adam and Dr. Drew Show episode #1246 "Weakening The Herd." Adam and Dr. Drew over the last few weeks have made contrarian claims that the media is "over-sensationalizing" the Coronavirus epidemic and to paraphrase and condense their stance for lack of better words is that society is "getting soft", the media is creating unnecessary panic, and that "proclamation politics" have led to wild overreaction to the current situation. Will history be kind to the former Loveline Pair as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to grow on a daily and hourly basis and the death tolls rise? Or are these sensible and sober reactions to the situation as businesses shut down, people lose their jobs, and people and families become restless in their homes with no real plan in sight?
As we all remain quarantined with plenty of times on our hands, we give this weeks recommended podcast picks. Also, we give you the latest from our website www.primalstreammedia.com.
