Indiscipline Suicidal Youth. Are Parents losing out in The Mental Health Space?
The rising cases of school fires and unrest in the recent past in Kenya and school shootings in other parts of the world like the USA indicate a cry for help. The societal fabric is breaking down, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Mental health is no longer a fad topic. It’s the reality we are facing and needs to be addressed fully.
Our chat today is not with a professional mental health specialist. Instead, we’ve chosen to hear from a recovering victim. Nicole represents many of us out there seeking help. Her depression stemmed from early teen pregnancy, losing her high-school going brother to suicide and facing the ever judgmental society in her journey to recovery.
This informed her quest to create a haven through her foundation, that people struggling with mental health can call home. In this two-part series, we explore the role of parents in fostering a mentally sound individual and their contribution to the catastrophe which has befallen our homes.
