Winnipeg DIY artist JayWood (aka Jeremy Haywood-Smith) is our latest guest on the podcast. With his new EP "Some Days" hitting shelves Friday April 23, I chat with Jeremy about his experience turning songs written in 2015 to record-signing-worthy songs in 2021. Plus, we bond over being HMV alumni and over our appreciated for rapper McKinley Dixon.

Vancouver-based collective Rare Americans released their narrative-driven sophomore album Rare Americans 2 earlier this month. Its eye-catching music videos and uplifting spirit have captured the admiration from fans around the world as their community continues to grow, and so I spoke with frontman James Priestner to talk about the importance of a fanbase as an independent music group, as well as his writing process and real-world inspirations for music.

An Interview With: Couch - From the Inbox: The Podcast EP. 14.5 (Mar 2, 2021)

Boston soul-pop outfit Couch recently dropped their debut self-titled EP in February. Written, recorded, and produced over the last two years or so, the group overcame numerous obstacles, including being long distance while each member was off at school. Their tenacity and chemistry help make their new EP shine bright, and we sat down over Zoom to chat with the group.

An Interview With: Stage Moms - From the Inbox: The Podcast EP 13.5 (Feb 23, 2021)

Moundsville, WV is the home base of punk quartet Stage Moms. It was also the home of local music venue Thunderbirds, operated by Stage Moms frontman Gage Vota, until COVID-19 forced his venue to shut down, starting a domino effect of unfortunate circumstances for the singer.

Stage Moms released their new single "231" as a tribute to the experience and the venue, acting as an anthem for the music industry during this unpredictable time.  In this new interview, Vota opens up about the struggles he's faced and shares some stories about the song and Thunderbirds.

An Interview: Michaela Slinger - From the Inbox: The Podcast EP. 10.5 (Feb. 3, 2021)

Unknowingly starting her career at age 3, Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Michaela Slinger has wanted to make music all her life. I chat with her about her musical childhood, the decision to leave the 9-5 life, and all about her new single & music video "Make You Sad".   Would you use her song in a break-up montage? We want to know.

An Interview With: Jesse Maxwell - From the Inbox: The Podcast - EP 8.5 - Jan 20, 2021

It's another mini-episode! This time, we're chatting with Toronto R&B singer-songwriter Jesse Maxwell. And when I say we, I mean your host Kane Wilkinson.

We talk about his time in Brooklyn, his new single "Undone", and how much music means to him (and me). It's a wonderful conversation, so get your ears on it!

From the Inbox: The Podcast - Why So Many Sad Songs? - EP. 008 (Jan 18, 2021)

Why are there so many sad songs on this week's episode?

We'll never know. Maybe it's because we still have toques to sell?

One thing we do know is that there are some pretty disgusting recipes out there and also some delicious new tunes (it will all make sense soon enough...)

This week, Kane shares six of his favourite tracks of the week from the 'From the Inbox' blog post including:

Baby Boys - "Duke and the Cash" (12:00)

Home Counties - "Modern Yuppies" (17:20)

Jesse Maxwell - "Undone" (29:30)
