Serving as one of the few all-female punk bands in their hometown of Derry, Northern Ireland, Cherym are making waves with their high-energy and exciting brand of music. With a handful of singles out and a sophomore EP on the horizon, the three-piece chat about their experiences in the local music scene, and share a whole lot of personality.

Lex Leosis is a proud Torontonian; born and raised in the city's West End, she has been a budding contributor to the spoken word and hip-hop scene for as long as she can remember, and has been an inspiring ambassador for her hometown through community programs. Set to release her latest EP Terracotta on July 9th, Lex joins the From the Inbox: The Podcast to talk about how Toronto has shaped her sound and to discuss her upcoming project, including the latest single and music video "Wanted".

DUSTY ORGAN:

Toronto-based multi-disciplinary artist Ryan Faist put out his new album Kinda Blue Too on June 4th. The photographer, filmmaker, writer, and musician accompanied his new release with a multimedia video series featuring various people - friends and strangers - from around Toronto, as well as Fear In Public, a live performance/short film from an empty roller skating rink in Etobicoke.

In this new interview, Boy Wonder shares some stories from the project, as well as sharing some words of wisdom about staying creative and trusting the process (plus, we were both wrong about hockey predictions).

BOY WONDER: 

Having officially announced their debut album Just Existing will be available on October 6th, Vancouver trio daysormay are celebrating the news with their latest video for "Ego". Lead vocalist Aidan Andrews stopped by the show to chat about the new release and album, as well as share some light on how they've been able to focus on themselves and become one of Canada's most exciting up and coming acts.

Rising genre-bending trio I M U R sat down over Zoom for a convo about their new album My Molecules, out June 25th, and their latest single "Sad Girls Club". The Vancouver-based outfit composed of vocalist Jenny Lea, multi-instrumentalists Mikey J Blige, and Amine Bouzaher, have been growing their fanbase thanks to their hard work, honest songwriting, and straight-up bangers.

Milwaukee-based singer-songwriter Brett Newski pops by for a quick chat about his new album 'It's Hard To Be A Human' and the mental health illustrated book by the same name, out June 22nd. We also talk Tarantino, TikTok, and trends - before he makes a speedy exit.

Winnipeg DIY artist JayWood (aka Jeremy Haywood-Smith) is our latest guest on the podcast. With his new EP "Some Days" hitting shelves Friday April 23, I chat with Jeremy about his experience turning songs written in 2015 to record-signing-worthy songs in 2021. Plus, we bond over being HMV alumni and over our appreciated for rapper McKinley Dixon.

Toronto indie rock trio the MONOWHALES put out their debut album Daytona Bleach at the beginning of the month, so naturally I had to chat with them about it. Plus, they share some fun tour stories, Tinder mishaps, and even weird voicemails in this interview segment. They even agree to play a game of Band Superlatives - how fun!

Boston soul-pop outfit Couch recently dropped their debut self-titled EP in February. Written, recorded, and produced over the last two years or so, the group overcame numerous obstacles, including being long distance while each member was off at school. Their tenacity and chemistry help make their new EP shine bright, and we sat down over Zoom to chat with the group.

Adult-ing is not always easy. 

Especially when people start asking you for money...

Either way, fresh starts are always exciting and on this week's show, the featured songs are damn well fresh. 

Featuring the debut single from Detroit rapper Nato, highlights from the debut EP from Boston soul-pop group Couch, the first song in over three years from Cinders, and the album-teaser from L.A. duo Junaco, this week's show is something great.

Moundsville, WV is the home base of punk quartet Stage Moms. It was also the home of local music venue Thunderbirds, operated by Stage Moms frontman Gage Vota, until COVID-19 forced his venue to shut down, starting a domino effect of unfortunate circumstances for the singer.

Stage Moms released their new single "231" as a tribute to the experience and the venue, acting as an anthem for the music industry during this unpredictable time.  In this new interview, Vota opens up about the struggles he's faced and shares some stories about the song and Thunderbirds.
