Teaching in Thailand: What’s it like being an English teacher?

Teaching in Thailand: Setting the Scene Pt. ll
More about the teachers & students I work with :)

Teaching in Thailand: Setting the Scene Pt. I
Where I am, how I got here, and a high-level overview of it all #UBONRATCHATHANI
P.S. There are actually *77 provinces in Thailand.

RETURN OF THE POD

Carrie Lee (CL)
CL and I became #BFFs our first year at Smith, where we played basketball together (we both eventually stopped playing to pursue other academic interests.) We'll talk about how coming from a family of educators and having three older siblings tied into CL's aspirations. We also unpack a little of what's behind her current teaching philosophy.
PS Click here to listen to the podcast CL references on deficit-framing... *asset-framing ;)
PPS Listen to this episode to hear sweet CL's Southern drawl... she's gonna h8 me 4 that mwhahahah

Jordan
I’m talking to the one, the only...JORDAN!!! I met Jordan this past December when we began our Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Fellowships here in Thailand. Jordan was a teacher for two years with Teach for America prior to coming to Thailand, so they bring a breadth of knowledge into their current role as a kru (teacher in Thai) at a technical college in Chonburi, Thailand.

Waresa

Stella
Stella is the type of friend that I always end up getting deep with. After a dinner with Stella in NYC during Fall 2020, the idea of Educate was created. We'll go back to her roots in the Chinese education system and talk about how the rigidity and competition of the system made her the person (and student) that she is today.

Mama Hanley
It's finally here! The inaugural episode of Educate, a new podcast by me, Erin. No better way to start than with the biggest role model in my life, my mama <3 We’ll talk about her educational upbringing in the Bay Area and the role that education has played within our own family.

E D U C A T E
At some point during my last job, I realized I wasn't pursuing my true passion for education reform. What better way to explore the world of education than by hearing people's stories? Through conversation, hopefully we can come to understand what is and isn't working in education (and eventually change that). *insert purple devil emoji*
