We should engage Jesus in our daily decisions. Invite Jesus in and ask for His wisdom and His help as you make simple decisions and difficult decisions.3. We are to engage Him in all areas - including our finances, filing our taxes, etc. - and let Him guide us.4.. As you set goals, make plans, or take your next steps - engage Jesus into the process of setting these goals, making these plans, and taking these steps. Allow time to pray - maybe even 30 days - praying and listening.5. Engaging is talking, listening, and reading God's word. Allow some quiet time and wait to hear from Him. Practice engaging the presence of Jesus.6. Engage Jesus in the hard season. Seek Him - not for the answer - but because He IS The Answer. Engage Him because this is the time that you can grow and see your faith strengthened. He wastes nothing and He redeems everything.7. 171: Exchange your Destructive Criticism for Constructive Criticism Starting NowThe Saboteur of Success is Destructive Criticism. How can we exchange destructive criticism for constructive criticism? Here are 7 tips to start implementing today. 1. Protect the Individual's Self Esteem. Be gentle with your words and careful to not deflate the person you are speaking to. 2. Focus on the Future and Not the Past. Use words like "next time", "in the future", "today is a new day", etc.3. Focus on the Behavior or the Performance and not the Person. Replace the word "you" with a description of the problem. 4. Use "I" Messages to Retain Ownership of Your Feelings. I feel (insert a word like angry, hurt, frustrated) when you do (insert problematic behavior).5. Be Clear About What Needs to Change. Be specific, solution oriented, and decision based. 6. 170: How Can We Balance Our Faith with Our Challenges?We encounter all types of challenges. As believers, as we encounter challenges, we should react differently than the world. We are commanded to cast all of our cares on Jesus, for He cares for us. We are not to wear worry and overwhelm like a blanket. 7 Steps to Shift our Focus from our Challenge to a Solution.1. Shift your focus from worry to wisdom. Seek Jesus first. Place your trust in Him and heed His advice. His way is wise. Be obedient to His word. 2. Shift from complaining to Christ-centered problem solving. God is moving in our life. We forget too quickly and go back to complaining. Instead, ask God to use you in the midst of your challenge, seek to learn what He is teaching you, and experience growth. Be honest with yourself about where you are and learn to live victoriously. We cannot be looking down, having a pity party, and leading people up the mountain to Jesus at the same time.3. Shift your focus off of what you can control and focus on surrendering. We are not in control of anything; He is in control of everything. Invite God into every area of your life and surrender it all to Him. The only thing we can control is our attitudes, our actions, and our prayers. 4. Replace fear with faith-filled action. Instead of sitting paralyzed in fear, ask "what step of faith are you asking me to take today, God?" Take the next right step in His strength.5. Speak life over the problem. We say a lot of negative things about ourselves, our situations, and our plans. Look forward and step into your purpose. Speak life over your situation and let God walk forward with you. 6. Use trials as training grounds for leadership. (James 1:2-4) Trials grow us and strengthen us. Here is where we learn who God is and that He is faithful to be with us.7. Seek wise counsel and community. Do not isolate. What can you do to move forward?1. Find yourself a Christian Coach. They will help you identify your blind spots.2. Get in Bible Study with a leader who will encourage you, challenge you and inspire you.3. Find friends who love Jesus and speak truth into your life. You were created for such a time as this. 168: Focus | How to Remove the DistractionsWhat are your distractions? We need to recognize what they are and when they happen. Make a schedule so you can do what you need to do. It's a great idea to set a timer for those things that lead you into distraction.Here are 5 tips for you...1. Create a schedule - including the things that lead to distraction. Limit the time for that.2. Setting Goals. Set your goal and the tasks you need to do each day to work toward that goal.3. Block your favorite distractions for a few hours.4. Turn off alerts. 167: Stop and Get out of the TrafficPsalm 46:10 tells us, "Be still and know that I am God." He tells us to take a long and loving look at Him. Stand quietly before the our all powerful God and honor Him with your worship and your praise. Spend time at the feet of Jesus and listen to what He has for you. As you engage Jesus, you will learn that He has more for you.In "Praying like Monks" by Tyler Stanton, he writes "Solitude is the furnace of transformation." To become more like God, we must sit in solitude with the Lord. This is where transformation takes place. This is where we learn the character of God.Be still also means to stop fighting. What if you said it this way, "stop fighting and know that I am God, I am in control, I am praiseworthy". First, we must take the time to get to know Jesus and who He is. We should take a vacation from being God. We should surrender and let go of lording over our own life. 166: 5 Ways God's Love Makes a Difference in How we Live The 5 P's... 1. Privately - God's love should be changing us in ways only we know about. He influences our thoughts, our relationship with Him, and our intimacy with Him. He loves us and that should change everything for us. 2. Personally - He authentically influences how we behave, what we do, and the decisions we make. 3. Practically - Because we have experienced God's love, we can show God's love. Practice loving others daily. 4. Professionally - Express His love in the workplace. You can show love to your co-workers, your clients or customers, and the people you see on your way to and from work. God calls us to love those who are difficult to love. People are placed in your life for a reason. Show love. 5. Publicly - God's love should make a difference in our public expressions. Even with those we do not know, we can show God's love. We can be kind, smile, let others go first, pray for someone, and let our light shine. Remember, "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." Episode 165: Faith Fueled Goals We want you to be equipped to reach your goals. Enjoy these 6 steps guide you 1. Seek God first. (Matthew 6:33) Asking God to direct your day, your To Do list, and everything you do. We have to get out of the way and let Him lead us. Our goals should line up with His goals for us. 2. Ask God. (Matthew 7:7-8) We must seek, ask, and knock. Continue to seek, ask, knock, while allowing Him to guide you. Stop doing and then asking God to bless it. 3. Trust in the Lord, Not Yourself (Proverbs 3:3-5) Don't assume, guess, or feel your way through life. Don't rely on your own understanding. Trust from a higher perspective as you seek God's perspective. Trust is a firm belief in the reliability, the truth, the ability, and the strength of someone or something. 4. Be diligent about your plans, but trust God's timing. (Hebrews 6:12) Daily enter into the process of doing your part to move toward your goal. Be patient, do the work. 5. Transform and Renew Your Mind. (Romans 12:2) How? By the renewing of your mind as you read and study God's word. We are not to conform and do what everyone else is doing. We are told to think differently and to love others more than ourself. 6. Think positive thoughts. (Philippians 4:8) Positive thinking is the food for your mind. Spiritual warfare takes place in the mind. Think on the things that are true, pure, and praiseworthy. This is how to follow God and achieve your goals - which should line up with His goals for you. 163: Identity Theft | Stop Believing the Lies We are continuing our conversation about identity. We are created by God, in the image of God. Episode 162: Who Are you? First, we must recognize the importance of understanding our identity is found in who Jesus is and what He has done. We must learn to distinguish the difference between the lies and the truth. We are created in the image of God. We are His Masterpiece. As a Daughter of the King, we need to stop the negative self-talk, the self-doubt, and stop listening to who the world says we are. We need to get into God's word and know who it is that He says we are. We are His and He is ours. As a Daughter of the King, He is always with us. He is our good, good Father. We can know that anything that comes our way first goes through His hands. He is at work on our behalf, He will defend us, protect us, lead us, and guide us. We can trust Him and rest in Him - even when it makes no sense. Today is the day to decide that we trust Him. We stand firm on His promises. We believe His word is true. 161: Stop Conforming to the World Spend some time studying Romans 12:1-2. We are not to conform to the world and for ourselves. A good question to ask yourself is "What would Jesus do if He were me?". If we are anxious, overwhelmed, and hurrying - we are conforming. Transformation begins with our thoughts. How do we change the way we think? We change what we feed it everyday. Are we feeding it the world or are we feeding it God's word? How eager are you to grow and become more like Jesus? The answer to that question will tell you everything you need to know. We should have a desire to surrender, to grow, and to become more and more like Jesus.How do we transform? 1. Recognize our life is not to be all about me. 2. Our life is to be all about Him. 3. Be honest with ourselves about where we are. 4. Identify the lies we believe and exchange them with the truth of God's word. 5. Those around us should see a change in us. 160: Do you Have your Priorities in the Right Order? We are entering into a new year and God is ready to do a new thing in you and your life. How can you make sure your priorities are in the order that God intends? In 2025, let's focus on what matters and stop focusing on all the things that do not matter. Let's talk about what our priorities should be and how to keep them in the right order. 1. Seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33). AW Tozer says, "When God is exalted to His proper place in our lives 1000 problems are solved all at once." This is truth. We must stop seeking our comfort, our way, our desires. Our top priority is to do the Father's will. How do we do that? We are to be about our Father's business, not our own business. We are to surrender to the point that our desires line up with God's desires for us. This requires sitting at the feet of Jesus. 2. Seek to fulfill the plan and the purpose that God has for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) God has a purpose and a plan for you. What you are doing should line up with God's plan and purpose for you. There are many good things that you can do, but the things outside His plan for you are distractions. Spend some time seeking God's plan and purpose for you. How do we do that? - We begin by loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37) - Make sure to identify any idols in your life. The little g gods get in the way of you becoming who God is calling you to become. (1 John 5:21) Ask God to reveal anything you put before Him. 159: Who is the Holy Spirit? Who is the Holy Spirit to you? What is His role in your life? God is a triune God and the Holy Spirit is one of His equal parts. He is a gift we receive when we surrender our life to Jesus. He wants to be your constant companion. He is your guide, your counselor, your teacher, and more. He is your helper. We are all in need of His help. He is waiting for us to invite Him into our everyday moments so we can look more and more like Jesus. He is why we can do hard things. He is the power that drives us and propels us forward when we are weak. When we don't know how to pray, He intercedes on our behalf. Have you activated His presence and His power in your life? 158: An Invitation: What are You Going to Do with Jesus? As Believers, Jesus is inviting us into more with Him? It is a daily invite that we get to choose whether we will accept or decline. Are you making excuses or accepting the invitation? Let's be intentional to invite the Holy Spirit into our life everyday. "Holy Spirit, you are welcome here!" He wants to be a part of our everyday moments - the little and the BIG. He is also inviting us to know Him more. Seeking to know Him more - His character, Who He is - will make His invitation more appealing. As we come to know Him more, we will be more willing to accept His invitation. Let it be our daily prayer, "Lord, I want to know You more." Even our struggles, hard seasons, and times of waiting are an invitation to trust Him, to build our faith muscle, and to know Him more. 157: Gratitude - Are we Thankful? We have much to be thankful for! God has given us a way of escape through Jesus. If that is all we can think of that we can be thankful for - then we have much to be thankful for! We can walk in freedom and victory. Grab a journal and take the time to be thankful. Being grateful changes everything. When you write it, you have a record of His grace and His mercy. God gets all the glory! Lord, let us have eyes to see all that God is doing. Let us see the little things and let us see the BIG things. Give us a heart that is filled with gratitude. Every good and perfect thing is a gift from above. 156: How Do You See Yourself? Do you have a self-esteem issue? Do you spend time struggling with your self image? If you do, you may be listening to the enemy instead of listening to your Creator. If you are spending too much time thinking about you - you may have a pride issue. No worries - just confess it and surrender it to God. It is so important to know the truth that tell us who we are in Him. Here is an entry for your Truth Journal - "I am who the Great I Am says I am. Our value is instilled in us by our Creator. Nothing we have ever done and nothing that has happened to us has diminished our value at all. We should be a reflection of God's beauty. We should step into the purpose God has for us. We don't need to dwell on our self, struggling with self-esteem issues. We can rest in God's love. Instead of focusing on exfoliating, just start allowing Jesus to illuminate through you. So what are we to do? 1. Be with Jesus. Spend time with Him and focus on His promises. 2. Give God the glory for everything that is good in your life. 3. Stop speaking negatively about yourself. Exude energy and positivity. Shine your light. 4. Be ready to testify and tell others about the One who shines through you. Stop wasting time seeing yourself through the wrong lens. Remember you are created in the image of God. Remember who you are in Him. He is everything you have ever wanted and everything you need. 155: How to Become an Influencer Who do you allow to influence you? There are so many influencers for products and plans, trying to lead you to make purchases and follow them. As Believers, how do we influence others? Can we become influencers for the Kingdom? Is this what Jesus is talking about when He instructs us to be the salt of the earth? We are to bring "flavor" to those around us. We should make a difference, preserve - not destroy, and be the light of the world. The question is, "are we?" Are we being the salt of the earth and the light of the world? What do we need to stop doing and what do we need to start doing. Pause and make notes of what God is revealing to you as you listen to this episode. Are you hiding or dimming your light by not speaking up, by being disobedient, by not believing His truth, by giving into our sin struggle, or by not sharing the source of your light? We have to shift the focus from ourselves and focus on loving God and loving others. It is important to show up faithful and allow God to use us to influence others to follow Him. 154: Parenting Young Adult and Adult Children Many times when we listen to parenting podcasts they focus on small children or teenagers. But today we are diving into the How To's of parenting young adults and adult children. Is it even called parenting? This is so different than parenting our children when they are little. It is important to recognize that your children are adults who are making adult decisions and experiencing adult circumstances. It is important that we respect them as adults and keep the airways open so that we can have the opportunity to speak into their life. We pray this episode is a balm to your Mama heart. Episode 153: Let Talk About it... Conflict, part 2 After listening to Pastor Jonathan Wallace talk about dealing with conflict on Episode 152, we needed to continue the conversation. Conflict can reveal areas that we need to give attention. Sometimes we may need to set boundaries around our conversation regarding the conflict so we don't engage the downward spiral Jonathan mentioned. How can we do better when conflict arises? We can stop assigning meaning to things that have none. We can stop being offended so easily. We can choose to do better - it simply requires a decision. We must consider what thoughts we are entertaining. Are we thinking negatively? Are we allowing our mind to focus on what is wrong or what is upsetting to us? God tells us to take our thoughts captive and to think on things that are good. Sometimes it is not a conflict that we can put our finger on, yet friends fall away. It happens to all of us. We need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and make sure we are loving and caring about others. We are to keep peace and love those who decide they no longer want to be friends with us. 152: Dealing with Conflict Conflict is hard and it certainly is not fun. We struggle with conflict and don't know how to move through it in a healthy way. Listen as Pastor Jonathan shares that conflict is necessary and can be a blessing if we approach it the right way. It can bring growth in our relationships, in our circumstances, and will force us to deal with the things we would rather not deal with. Jonathan shares 5 natural, unhealthy tendencies when dealing with conflict. Which one(s) do you gravitate toward? How can we do better? We need to first recognize our own tendencies and repent. Like David, ask God to reveal any way in me that offends you. Let's replace our unhealthy tendencies with healthy tendencies. One way to begin moving forward is to identify your easiest win. Have a win and build momentum by tackling the small things first. Do all you can to stop the conflict spiral downward. Instead, how can we work through our conflict and take the relationship forward? Let's learn to honor God and the other person in our response. You will want to listen to the end. Take notes regarding how we can communicate effectively. Consider the distractions, the internal distractions, and learn to ask good questions. And don't miss the 3 ways to win as you figure out the kind of solution you need. 149: What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do Join us as we share 3 things you can do when you do not know what to do. 1. Pray. Take it all to God. He will meet you in your despair. It may require you to repent and release your pride and selfishness. Lay yourself down so you can hear from Him. Seek Him first. The scriptures tell us that when we seek Him, we will find Him. As you pray and cry out to Him, don't forget to be still and listen. We want to hear from Him, but that requires leaning in, listening for Him and expect to hear from Him. He is always with you. He is always at work in your life. No matter what comes your way, run to Him. 2. Seek Wise Counsel. It is Biblical to seek the counsel of those who will give you biblically sound advice. We don't need people's opinions or advice, we need help to apply God's wisdom during THIS season of our life. Who is encouraging you in your walk with Jesus? Be intentional to build relationships with women who will point you to Jesus all the time and every time. 3. Get in God's word. The Psalms are full of David in the situation of not knowing what to do. We read and relate to his highs and lows as he suffers and as he worships. Ephesians is full of instruction for the believer. It reminds us of who we need to be and what we need to do. Regardless of where you go in God's word, it is always going to point you to truth. Again, we encourage you to keep a truth journal. Episode 148: Do I Have a Purpose? You were created on purpose and filled with purpose by your Creator. Our purpose is to glorify our Heavenly Father, to fear God, and keep His Commandments. We are to follow Jesus and lead others to Him. When we read in Genesis that we are to be fruitful and multiply. This isn't only bearing children, it is also spiritual multiplication. Jesus never multiplied physically, but He multiplied spiritually. Your purpose includes spreading the gospel and helping others come to know Jesus. Our God given purpose requires that we no longer go along with the crowd. We are called to be set apart. As we grow to know God more and engage Jesus, we should becoming more and more like Jesus. God uses every single thing we go through to transform us into who He created us to become. It is a continual progression until we meet Him face to face. Satan wants to detour us from pursing the purpose we are to fulfill. He hisses and points us to our selfish desires or anything other than God's plan for us. We must recognize this as spiritual warfare and stop believing His lies. Get in God's word - it is the truth. Engage Jesus in every moment of your life and you will experience the more He came to offer. And what He came to offer you as you follow Him far surpasses anything you will leave behind. Ask God daily to reveal your purpose for the day. Say yes to God and surrender your life to Him. Today is the day to start being about your Father's business. Episode 147: Engaging Foundational Truths If we are not engaging the truth, then we are listening to the lies of the enemy. He wants to kill, steal, and destroy you and it all begins by hissing lies in your ear. Be diligent to not listen to the lies. Instead lean into the truth that is found in God's word. The power of life and death lies in the tongue. Be careful what you say to yourself. Be careful what you believe. Matthew 4:4 "True life is found in every word that goes forth from God's mouth." Speak the truth and release your faith. Truth is the firm foundation God has given you to stand on no matter where you are in your life. Read God's word, speak God's word, and live a life founded on His word. Jesus said, "the Truth will set you free". Job 22:28 says, "You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways." What are the declarations that we should make as Daughters of the King? We encourage you to list out 5 Declarations - declaring this is who I am, this is what I do. Examples: When we declare, "I am a Daughter of the King", it should impact everything we say and everything we do. So, because I am a daughter of the King, I trust God. 143: This is How I Fight My Battles Join us as we talk about how we fight our battles. Life is hard and we often encounter spiritual battles of different types and sizes. So, let's look at scriptures that tell us how to fight. 1. Trust God. Sometimes God allows us to experience a difficult season for a reason. Exodus14:13-14: Remember, the Israelites had been in a hard season. They had been released from captivity and were on the run. They feared Pharaoh would surely kill them, they blamed Moses, and they doubted they would be saved. God told them, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today." God has already fought our battle. 2. Engage Jesus. II Chronicles 20: Jehoshaphat receives a report that a huge army is on its way to fight them. He calls for fasting, for the people to seek God, and to pray. Jehoshaphat remembers God's past faithfulness in the past. We put our battle before the Lord and engage Him in our battles. Recall the truth of God's word. Instead of us fighting our battles, we can rest and let God fight for us. In the story of Jehoshaphat, the rivals armies that were coming to devour them, ended up fighting one another. When Jehoshaphat and his army entered the battle field, the enemy was already dead. 3. Be prepared. Ephesians 6:13-18: We are up against far more than we can handle on our own. We need to accept the help of God's weapons - truth, righteousness, peace, and salvation. These are our promises. Give your troubles to God, spending time in prayer. Pray long. 141. Jumpstart June: Engaging Jesus in Your Relationships Listen as Kim starts us off in Colossians 3:12-14 encouraging us to be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. Today is a good day to remember that God is asking us to be different from the world. We are not to be reactionary, but to learn to respond in a way that honors God. What should we do? We should pause and re-center ourselves and ask God to help us respond appropriately. - because we are loved, we can love - because we have received compassion and kindness, we can be that way - because He demonstrated humility, we can be humble - because He is gentle, we can be gentle - because He is patient, we can be patient We are created to be in relationship. Satan wants us to be isolated and alone, distracted from God and His goodness. We want to encourage you to seek out God-honoring relationships. 140. Jumpstart June: Engaging Jesus in Your Emotional Health How do we engage Jesus in our emotional health? We are overwhelmed by all of the things we have going on in our lives. But God never intended for us to do any of it on our own. We need Him and we need to engage Him in every area of our life - even in our emotions and our mental health. Our feelings and the status of our heart matters to God. We need to cry out to Him and share what we are experiencing. Let's ask Him to show us where our heart is not aligning with Him? When we give Him our struggle, we can find rest in Him. (Be sure to listen to Kim's explanation of Psalm 23 and what we need to be able to rest.) When we engage Jesus by spending time with Him at the beginning of our day, it prepares us mentally for our day and to endure our circumstances. When we place our trust and faith in Him, we can count it all joy - even struggles and hardships - because He will use it to grow us and strengthen us. 137. Maybe He Doesn't Even Care This is the 4th episode in our Maybe Series. Have you ever felt as if God doesn't care about you or about the circumstances of your life? Hebrews 4:15-16 reminds us that God does care and that He can sympathize with us because He experienced temptations. We must be careful to recognize the lies of the enemy and discard those. Instead, let's cling to the truth of God's word. Remember to ask, "who told me that?" Scripture tells us over and over again that He does indeed care. Sometimes we cannot understand why God is not doing what we think He should do. Why is He allowing pain and hard things to happen? The decision we have to make is to choose to trust God - even with things are not going our way. The choice is to run to God or to run from Him. Paul in 2 Corinthians 12 asked God to rid him of the thorn in his side. God tells Paul that His grace is sufficient, it is enough to carry us through. He gave us His riches at His own Son's expense. Therefore, we can be sure He cares. Let's stop seeing things from our perspective. But remember James 1:2-4 where it tells us to count it all joy when we troubles come our way. When our faith is tested, our endurance has a chance to grow. "So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." We can trust that God's answer is best. We know that God is good. We know that He is faithful, will never leave us, will never forsake us. Cling to the truth - write things you know to be true - and keep them in your truth journal. We have not be abandoned. God cares for us. We are here for you! 136. Maybe None of This is Real We are here for episode 3 of our Maybe Series. We hope you are enjoying this series and finding some assurance around all of your maybe's. Be sure to recognize who is causing you to question. Who wants you to doubt? Scripture tells us that the enemy came to kill, steal, and destroy. What is the basis of your doubt? What is the evidence of existence of God, of Jesus? The evidence is all around us. If none of this is real, what is the purpose? We are here to remind you that there is a higher purpose. There is a plan. God, the Creator of the Universe, wants to have a relationship with you. While that is unimaginable for our finite minds, God will meet us in an intimate way and become our Savior, our Lord, our Good Shepherd and so much more. We urge you to seek God, to invite Jesus into your heart, and to receive the gift of eternal life. If you are His and in a season of doubt, cry out for help. Don't be stuck in this season of struggle, go to God. Cry out to Him and seek His face. Pam, Gwen, and Kim can all testify of His presence, of His goodness, and of His faithfulness. We are here for you! As believers, we have a responsibility to be intentional to share what we know with others. 135. Maybe I am Lost This is the 2nd episode of our Maybe Series. We are wondering if you ever feel lost - as in you aren't sure where you are headed, if you are doing the right things, or if you have more questions than you have answers. What do we do when we feel lost? First, let's rest in Him. This requires spending time with Him, leaning into Him, and allowing Him to help us. Next, we have to go to Him and ask for His direction. We have to listen to hear and know the next step we are to take. We cannot let our feelings, which are not always truth, impede us or lead us astray. The truth is God has not gone anywhere. It could be our sin that has distanced us from God. Sometimes we are blind to our sin and what is separating us from God. Confession is required for us to experience that closeness again. Evaluate your inputs. Who are you spending time with? What do you do with your time? What are you putting into your heart, soul, and mind. What you input determines your output and could cause your feeling of being lost. Stay in God's word. It is our guide. As you read and study, open your hands and ask God to come and be with you. Get to know your Savior all over again. You are not lost, it just feels that way. Run to Him and be found! We are here for you! 134. Maybe... I Need to Change My Habits Listen as Gwen opens us with some tough questions and asks us to define our habits. Are they replenishing us or depleting us? Are they drawing us closer to God or leading us astray? Give it some thought. Do you need some new habits? What habits do you have that need to be exchanged for something far better? When you make it a habit to be obedient to the instruction we find in God's word, it is amazing what can take place in our lives. How do we know if a habit is a good habit or bad habit? It crosses the line when it becomes all about "me". The motive of our heart is what is important and what determines whether the habit is good or bad? We need the habit of discernment to identify the difference in the lie of the enemy and the truth found in God's word. Kim encourages us to identify the lie and find the scripture to combat that lie. Apply the truth in your life. What if we made it a habit to know God more, to trust Him more and to walk in obedience to Him. Let Romans 12:1-2 guide you as you establish some new habits. Choose to know longer be like the world, but to be set apart by the habits you create. Allow yourself to hunger for Jesus, for God's word, for what He has for you. We are here for you! 131. Planting Seeds that Point Others to Jesus - How can we be intentional about planting seeds about the good news of Jesus? We start by being intentional about praying for others, praying they will be receptive and that the seeds will take root. We can also ask God to help us recognize the opportunities to plant seeds when they arrive. In the Parable of the Sower we learn that the condition of the soil matters, which is the condition of the heart. It's up to the hearts of others whether the seeds bear fruit or not. We can plant seeds by choosing to share our Jesus story when given an opportunity. It is our story of redemption. It's easier than you think. Just tell what He has done in your life. We also plant seeds by how we conduct ourselves. If we are intentional to live our faith out loud, others notice and become curious about how that works. It matters how we live our life. 129. Who Told You That? - Ask yourself this question, who told you that? This is a great question to ask yourself when the negative self-talk is invading your thoughts, when the words of others are permeating your mind, and when you are believing things that are not true. Asking the question, who told you that, helps you discern the difference in the truth of God's words and the lies Satan wants us to believe. Who have you authorized to speak into your life who should not be. Listen to the example of David and how he did not listen to the negative words. What has triggered the negative comments? You can be set free from giving your ear to and believing the lies of the enemy. The mind is a battlefield; don't let the enemy gain ground. Be careful of the power of suggestion. Don't let your mind feed into assumption, or suggestion, or even unmet expectations. Keep your thoughts aligned with the truth of God's word by asking, who told you that? Take every thought captive and line it up with the truth of God's word. This is a great reason to be in the Word! You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free! John 8:32 Take inventory of your thoughts and make sure what you are thinking is good and honors the Lord. Take the truth of God's word and put it on top of the lie. Walk and talk with your Savior. Lean into His truth. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things arelovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 128. Speak Lord, I am Ready to Listen - We want the Lord to speak to us, we are ready to hear. There are those times when we can't hear a peep. What stops us from hearing from God? Are we too distracted, too busy, or anticipating how we think we will hear from Him? Maybe we need to create margin - blank space - that is reserved from Him. Maybe we need to sit in the quiet so we can hear Him whisper. Maybe we need to silence the enemy or turn down the world's volume, so we can hear what the Lord has to say. What is our posture? Obedience, correct posture, and purposeful silence sets us up to hear the Lord's voice. The more time we spend in His presence, the more often we will hear from Him. It may be in a song, in a phrase, in a sermon, in a conversation with a friend and then repeated in our devotion. So what are we to do? Get in the Word so we can know the Word and can discern truth from the lies of the enemy. Once we hear from Him, we have to be ready to adjust our life and walk in obedience with Him. He never calls us to do what we can accomplish in and of ourselves. This is how He gets the glory. We hear from God through communion, relationship, counsel and conviction. Believe He has something to say to you and expect to hear from Him. Rely on the Holy Spirit to be your helper and your teacher. Pray His Word and hear from Him. Ask Him to open your eyes to see, your ears to hear, and your heart to receive! We are here for you!
