In this second episode of F.O.E. (Friends of EhKees), Khamall, a respected figure in Columbus and co-founder of The Citadel alongside his family, joins as a guest. Khamall and EhKees have a longstanding brotherhood, with Khamall being a source of inspiration and collaboration for EhKees over the years. Together, they delve into their experiences in creating, curating, and cultivating culture within the community, and the level of commitment it requires.

Khamall's return to Columbus to build and contribute to the south side community marks a significant homecoming for him, one that he approaches with a strong sense of intention. This is the first episode of F.O.E. (Friends of EhKees) and I feel like it was only right to have my guy, Rizo, sitting across from me for it. Rizo recently opened up Statehouse Studios, his second studio, in the heart of Columbus. Statehouse will be, for the foreseeable future, the home of all ETC content and production, so it felt appropriate that the premiere of THIS series be done WITH him.

People that have been following along since 2019 have heard me say “Naming it is the hardest part”. And it was. I didn’t know how I was going to bring synergy to all of the content that I’m working on without overwhelming my audience or stepping on any of my toes.

With the evolution and sustained growth of events that I help curate (Orange Soda, Native Tongues & 614 Day), and the content houses I work in (Columbus Can’t Wait, FlyPaper-->FPM--FAM), and the work I do professionally (Creative Relations Consulting, the African American Male Wellness Agency, the AA Wellness Fatherhood Initiative, the Franklin County Fatherhood Coalition and NCUS Communications), I feared over saturation . I was struggling with how to carve out a space that speaks to MY passion of networking & exchanging ideas with other creatives helping to build and shape the culture here in The Cardinal.

I finally landed on “Friends of EhKees” or FOE. Look at this like a captain log…a show where I can talk to my peers, mentors, rivals, and favorites about their journeys and exchange stories and ideas. I feel like there are some conversations that only those with experience operating in our lane would understand. Some perspectives you have to earn and those are the people I want to talk to.

I’m excited about FOE because I feel like the people who are cut from the same cloth as me are chasing history, legacy and impact the same way that I am. That creates an climate of friendly competition and sharpening of iron that ultimately makes us all better. There are a number of reasons why this name and acronym work and I’m excited get into that more with the first episode.

ETC was always about creating the infrastructure to help folk discover community and navigate local culture. I’m hoping with FOE, that we will be able to dive into the genius that is creating and shaping that colture.

EhKees and Tizzle are joined by a very special guest, Zerrick, to have an incredible conversation about nothing. On this episode, EhKees and Tizzle get back in front of mics for the first time in three years and pick up right where they left off: starting rumors. 

This was actually the first episode that recorded at Statehouse Studio, but there was a small technical issue mid-way through the show so it was initially shelved. We decided the conversations about vulnerability, EhKees' fake Yeezy's, and Tizzle's Capitalism were too good not to share. So enjoy!

Orange Soda is coming up and so I sat down with Jeff from SARNCO (Sexual Assault Resource Network Central Ohio) to talk about our responsibility in fighting rape culture and creating safe spaces.

Sat down with Ghostt for a long overdue conversation about his story and the battle rap scene here in Columbus

Malcolm and Tizzle sit down with Kashis Keyz and his producer Astro  to talk about their upcoming project Rookie Year that is about to drop. Thank you for the conversation Brady! He arrived at Nu Mecca without a clue of what he was about to stumble into, but we walked away learning a lot about the Columbus native. Starting out, we joked on Malcolm for his taste in food (raisins on a sandwich?!) and spoke on our views on entitlement. Brady gave us his background, how he got started in the creative scene, how he sees himself now, and where he is hoping to go. Of course we touched on the making of his Lgndry song on "Max Out" that caught our attention. The topic of whether or not there is a gap between the generations of local artists was debated between Brady, Malcolm, and Tizzle as well. This was refreshing and we look forward to sitting down with Brady again as he progresses.

Recorded in November soon after Joey Aich transferred over into being a full time creative, Tahirah and I sat down with the Cleveland Native to talk about his journey as a creative, his next steps, and Jenga 3. I am grateful to share the audio from this 2-hour sit down. Joey is one of the most consistent and hardest working artists in the state.
