Recyclers’ Talks #4: Boosting Tyre Recycling - Essential to the EU Green Deal
Going the extra-mile on the road of climate neutral and circular economy is a must to achieve the targets set by the European Green Deal and tyre recycling has a key role in this regard. Tyres are complex-products made from the very best quality raw materials, such as rubber, steel and textile fibres. Recyclers have invested heavily to recover more materials from end-of-life tyres (ELT) while creating non-outsourceable jobs and contributing to environmental sustainability. Yet, in the European Union, the margin for improvement remains significant to boost tyre recycling. Join Recyclers’ Talks #4 to discuss what is needed to achieve more circularity in tyres and a more sustainable value chain; and find out how different players in the tyre value chain can contribute to this goal. Keynote Opening Interventions (14h30 – 14h50) Poul STEEN RASMUSSEN, President of EuRIC MTR, Group CEO, Genan – Opening Words Enrique GARCIA JOHN, Policy Officer, European Commission Panel Discussion with Q&A from the audience (14h50 – 16h40) Alex VAN GELDEREN, Advisor ELT management and Fazilet CINARALP, Secretary General, The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) Lars RAAHAUGE, External Consultant, Environment & Business Development, Genan Alastair COX, Technical Director, EMEA Synthetic Turf Council (ESTC) Élise VITALI, Policy Officer for chemicals, European Environmental Bureau (EEB) Sonia MEGERT MARSHALL, COO, Tyre Recycling Solutions (TRS) Concluding remarks and policy recommendations (16h40 – 16h45) Emmanuel KATRAKIS, Secretary General of EuRIC The event will be moderated by Kira TAYLOR, Journalist @EURACTIV

Recyclers’ Talks #2: Making Textiles Circular: What Is Needed?
Textiles and clothing are essential to our everyday life, but are also the fourth largest global contributor to resource use and greenhouse gas emissions. Environmental impacts related to the textiles system include resource use, land use, climate change and pollutants. Reducing these pressures from textiles production and consumption requires a systemic change towards circularity*. Join Recyclers’ Talks #2 to discuss what is needed to achieve a true circularity in textiles while lowering the impacts on the environment & climate and find out how different players in the textiles chain can contribute to this goal. *EEA Briefing: Textiles in Europe’s circular economy Keynote Opening Interventions (10h00 – 10h30) Mariska ZANDVLIET, President of EuRIC Textiles – Opening Words Maria RINCON LIEVANA, Policy Officer, European Commission, DG Environment, Circular Economy and Green Growth, Sustainable Production, Products and Consumption (ENV.B.1) Delara BURKHARDT, Member of the European Parliament, Rapporteur for an EU legal framework to halt and reverse EU-driven global deforestation Panel Discussion with Q&As from the audience (10h30 – 11h25) Maria RINCON LIEVANA, Policy Officer, European Commission, DG Environment, Circular Economy and Green Growth, Sustainable Production, Products and Consumption (ENV.B.1) Mariska ZANDVLIET, President, EuRIC Textiles Jonas EDER-HANSEN, Public Affairs Director, Global Fashion Agenda Valeria BOTTA, Program Manager, Environmental Coalition on Standards (ECOS) Concluding Remarks (11h25 – 11h30) Emmanuel KATRAKIS, Secretary General of EuRIC The event will be moderated by Kira TAYLOR, Journalist @EURACTIV
