Generation AI: building awareness, literacy and ethics
We're continuing our journey of exploring the impact of digital technology on youth Information Services. And today's topic is artificial intelligence. It's not something new that AI is becoming more accessible to a wider population. If you use the internet, you'll have no doubt use technology that relies on AI. But the recent development of chat GPT and others has brought AI to people's attention. In this episode, we want to explore what it means for the youth information field.
Where is AI going? What new challenges and opportunities are there on the horizon? We interview Alexandre Sayad, who's the general director of Zeitgeist education, media and culture. He's co-chairman of the UNESCO media information and Literacy Alliance and is an academic and researcher in the field of artificial intelligence and ethics.
Decoding the algorithms
In today's episode, we are exploring algorithms. Whether we're aware or not, algorithms have become an ever-present part of our online lives. They're on our computers, phones, tablets and smartwatches and are busily doing their jobs in the background as we browse the internet. But do we really know what they are and how they work? How are they influencing young people? And how might we use them to our advantage? To answer these questions?
Join us on this journey to explore the impact of digital technology on youth information services.
Digital literacy, citenzship and wellbeing
The Internet can be a powerful tool to support young people's development, but it can also be a source of harm. Young people are bombarded with information 24/7. And this influences how they think, how they feel and how they perceive the world. We must also remember that online services are not accessible for everyone.
During this episode, we'll be discussing how we can support young people to navigate these challenges and thrive.
Digitalisation in Youth Information
In this podcast, we will speak to youth information providers, young people and academics about how services are adapting in response to new technology, and young people's online behaviour. We'll discuss the opportunities as well as the risks. And considering how we make sure young people are equipped to navigate the world safely and thrive.
