Oh what a year! At the beginning of 2020 I had NO IDEA that I would launch a podcast. It has been a challenging year but a beautiful journey of both faith, and creativity. Throughout the year, the Lord dropped some gems on me and I'd like to share them with you. Listen to this episode as I share and reflect on some key quotables from my 2020 journey!
It is the top of the week and I already feel like, dis tew much! I found myself feeling overwhelmed because I realized I'm doing all the things. Can you relate? Listen to this episode as I chat about three things that work to move me from overwhelm to productivity.
Living out your purpose isn't an automatic - even when you know what your purpose is.. Purpose requires intentionality and a fortitude that can continue in the gritty and not so pretty parts of the process. And while purpose is something that God gives us all, experiencing the fulfillment of it takes action on our part. Listen to today's podcast as I talk about following purpose as an action word.
Sometimes we can get lost in doing work with God in mind that we're not mindful that God wants to do a work in us. Listen to this episode to hear the food for thought that the Lord gave me as I was driving to set last weekend. As you listen, ask yourself; Do I give God room to do a work in me as I purpose to do my work for Him?

As creatives, we’re taught and encouraged to create; no one really teaches us how to build. On this episode I chat with Tobi Gadison about planning and being strategic as a creative, and how that can make the difference in leaving a mark in media and entertainment.

Are you praying for oil or are you riding the wave? That's the question I got as I sat and thought around the idea of authenticity in creativity. It's easy to look to trends and pop culture to see what's hot and garnering the most likes and views. However, as one who has access to the Creator, are you taking advantage of the creative genius made available through the Holy Spirit. AND, are you creating with God's heart and purpose in mind?
Listen to this episode and ask yourself, "Is my art authentic?"

As a creative Believer, is it cool to utilize sensational titles and headlines to draw people to our content? In this episode I raise questions and chat about promoting pop-culture trends, accountability in the Christian creative space and what in the world the church is doing using WAP as advertisement on the worship night flyer!??!

There are so many creative Believers who have a story of their faith, their creativity and how the two intersect - I want to share those stories! This episode kicks off a short series of talks where creatives share their journey of freedom and creativity. On today's episode, I chat with writer, producer, and director, Korstiaan Vandiver.
As a produced writer, Korstiaan has written for a producer of the Oscar-nominated "Loving" and multiple screenplays for the producer of the TIFF film "The First Grader". He is a writer/producer/director with EP's David Goyer (Dark Knight Trilogy) & Kevin Turen (99 Homes, Arbitrage, All Is Lost, HBO's Euphoria) on an upcoming project with the attached lead actor, Anthony Mackie (Hurt Locker, Avengers series, The Banker). His scripts have garnered interest and attachments from Oscar-winners such as Mahershala Ali, Mo'Nique, Regina King & Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling and Korstiaan was a part of the Sundance-winner "The Birth of a Nation", producing and providing script notes for the $17.5 million second-highest sale in the Sundance festival's history. He currently teaches screenwriting workshops in partnership with the Morehouse Human Rights Film Festival at the esteemed Morehouse College, alma mater of the great filmmaker, Spike Lee, and Martin Luthe King Jr. As a co-writer, producer he is set to direct "12", the story of 12-year-old Tamir Rice killed by Cleveland police with the producers of the films "Short Term 12", "Z for Zachariah" and "Wilding".

Before I was a Christian, I was a creative. Prior to being saved I would never pray or consult God about how to use my creativity – outside of, please let it help me be famous! Lol. As I grow in my relationship with Jesus, He’s always showing me why time with Him is the most important component in, not only my life as a Believer but, my life as a creative. Communion with God connects us to His heart concerning us, others, and our art.
Listen in as I share some thoughts on Communion + Creativity.

Nina and I always have rich, encouraging and nourishing conversations. This time, we decided to hit "record"! The intention wasn't to post this as an actual podcast episode but, as you'll hear in the playback, Nina's encouragement to me was basically prophetic.
This episode is for Believers, creatives, entrepreneurs, business owners... anyone with a mandate to create and put God at the forefront. This episode will empower you to go out and do great things in your industry and sphere of influence! So, sit back and enjoy today's episode as I chat with Nina Oglesby.
A little about Nina...

This morning as I was waking up, I heard the words "Led by God". This short phrase not only prompted me to record this podcast episode fresh out the bed with room temperature vocal cords, at best (you can still hear the whispers of my pillow in my throat); it also served as a reminder of the importance of being obedient to the leading of God's Spirit in my creativity.
In this episode I share a story about a time when God prompted me to use my creativity - freely - not confined by my own assumptions of what environments my gifts were reserved for.
FYI: God will use them whenever, however, if we let Him.
If you are a Christian creative wrestling with how God wants to use you, listen to this episode. You will be empowered!

It took me a minute to process my thoughts and feelings surrounding the current events: fight against systemic racism and the Black Lives Matter movement. This podcast is me sharing how the Lord helped me navigate my own responses and how He gave me perspective as I took inventory of my own heart. This is not “the answer” and may not resonate with everyone but hopefully it will help others gain perspective as well.
In addition to the points made in this episode, I’d like to add that we ought to be willing to be stretched outside of our comfort zone. This is an opportunity for us all to grow and show up for each other in ways that we’ve never been required to do before. Let’s lean into being a national and global community of people who lead with compassion, service and love, as we fight for justice.
Have you ever thrown something out there, thinking it's one thing but it comes back and hits you like a boomerang?! Well, I threw out a prayer asking for God to help me get my schedule straight and He hit me with a word about grace! Take a listen.
Below you'll find reference scriptures that support some of the points i shared in this episode.
