Discerning Principles and a Farewell
October's general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was full of eternal truths AND eternal warrior principles (because eternal warrior principles are grounded in eternal truth). Rob and Lloyd take time to discuss a few of the favorite and most meaningful things they learned from conference and how applying them will help us be more of the father we want to be.
Rob also takes a moment to say a few parting words as he has to step away from podcast responsibilities for a time. But the show will go on!
“Like Dragons Did They Fight” by Maurice Harker is the book where you can find many of the principles we discuss and is the veritable handbook thousands of people have used to assist them in developing greater self-mastery. Prayer Made Powerful
Prayer is one of the most fundamental things we do in the gospel and in life, but many of us still struggle with it in some shape or form. Rob and Lloyd take some time to share things they have used and ideas they have to make our prayers more powerful, with the ultimate goal of being able to connect with our Father in Heaven so He can direct us to become the fathers we desire to be. One idea they discuss is the concept of a "warrior's prayer."
A lot of good information and suggestions can also be found in the following talks from Elder David A. Bednar: "Ask in Faith" and "Pray Always."

Working On Your "One Thing"
We all have at least one thing we need to work on to improve ourselves, but sometimes we don't know where to begin. Rob and Lloyd share some things they learned when they recently attended a fireside given by Maurice Harker, founder of Life Changing Services, where Maurice teaches us as parents how we can use the "Discover, Plan, Act, Reflect" tool (or DPAR) to work on that "one thing." This is a great tool shared with us from our prophet and leaders found in the Children and Youth program in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
If you would like to view the whole fireside you can do so here. More details on DPAR can be found here.

Plan To Win
Summer vacations and having your children out of school may have messed with your routine. Your goals may have taken a hit. Rob and Lloyd experienced it. They discuss their challenges they've had in staying focused in the recent past and discuss what can be done to help each of us as fathers get back on track.
For more detailed information on MAN PWR goals and other principles of self-mastery they discuss, you can get a free copy of the book "Like Dragons Did They Fight" here. You can also visit lifechangingservices.org.
Please email us at fatherswhofight@lifechangingservices.org with your comments, questions, and stories of success or struggle.
Who's On Your Team?
Everyone needs a good support system but because we are strong, or at least try to appear that way when we are not feeling it, sometimes we--especially men--don't admit that help is exactly what we need in the moment. Rob and Lloyd have a great conversation with Ben Smith, clinician at Life Changing Services, discussing the importance of having a good team of supportive, helpful people in your life. Ben tells how he decided on his "Board of Directors" when he needed help overcoming his own struggles.
Listen to Ben tell more of his story and give more tips on this episode of The Eternal Warrior Podcast.
We want to be part of your team as well. Please visit lifechangingservices.org to see what programs and resources we have to help you and your family break out of your struggles.
It's Not Weakness
There is one attribute all fathers--indeed, all people--should develop that doesn't get talked about much and when it does it's often misunderstood. Rob and Lloyd discuss why becoming more meek is so important in our relationship with our family especially, but in all of our relationships generally. They do so with the help of talks from Elders Neal A. Maxwell and David A. Bednar.
Rob shares a story about Brigham Young and Joseph Smith that can be found in this address.
Rob and Lloyd were also recently on this episode of The Eternal Warrior Podcast.
Please visit lifechangingservices.org to find people and programs ready to help you and your family learn how to fight--and win--the battles of life.
What Is His Will For You?
Rob and Lloyd discuss the importance of determining Heavenly Father's will when it comes to being the type of father He wants and needs you to be. They do so with a little help from this talk by Elder Neal A. Maxwell.
You can also get help in your parenting by visiting lifechangingservices.org and discovering the many programs we have to offer.

Warriors We Can All Admire
Rob and Lloyd have the good fortune of talking with Wes and Spenny, hosts of The Eternal Warrior Podcast, and all-around great guys. With Father's Day approaching they take the opportunity to talk about what great men their fathers are, what role their fathers played in their recovery from pornography addiction, and what they themselves plan to do as future fathers to help their children succeed. All along the way it's great advice for any father and a fun--and touching--episode.
If you have a child struggling with pornography use or even addiction, click here to get a free copy of the book "Like Dragons Did They Fight."
Your Own Personal PoWeR Structure
You are powerful, you just may not know it yet. One thing that can help you claim your power is setting and accomplishing personal goals, especially those that can help you connect to your Ultimate Source of Power--God. Rob and Lloyd discuss MAN PWR--what it is and how to set goals to help you win your challenging personal battles.
Click here for a free copy of the MAN PWR calendar to help get you started. If you would like more help, feel free to contact Rob and Lloyd at fatherswhofight@lifechangingservices.org. Or visit lifechangingservices.org to learn more about the services we offer.
The Savior of Our Children
Sometimes, in the righteous desire to help our children, we wrongly think we are the only ones who can. Using messages from then-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf and Pres. Henry B. Eyring, Rob and Lloyd talk about the importance of trusting Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ, to be able to do Their work, and that faith in Jesus Christ is the first principle of the gospel for a reason.
Life Changing Services is now offering a Spiritual Psychology Masterclass to go more in-depth into life-changing psychological concepts as taught by ancient and modern prophets. Check it out.

Eternal Warrior Principles From General Conference
Rob and Lloyd take the opportunity to review a few talks from the April 2021 general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, specifically parts that applied to fathers and things we can do to become better fathers. There were definitely some Eternal Warrior principles we heard over the pulpit! The talks they review are from Elder Thierry K. Mutombo, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Pres. Russell M. Nelson, and Sis. Joy D. Jones.
If you would like more information on how Eternal Warrior principles could benefit you and your family please click here.
Fathers Who Fight is a podcast associated with Life Changing Services. Beginning To Notice
For men, feelings are not always fun to discuss, so Rob and Lloyd teach about a tool we fathers--and anyone--can use to help us recognize and deal with our feelings in an appropriate, healthy way. They also talk about how using this tool can help in recognizing Satan's lies and defeating them.
The quote they use from Elder Bednar in this episode can be found in the talk "Quick to Observe."
If you feel you and/or your family could use some personalized help in perfecting how to apply these principles please click here.
Not Every Voice Is A Trusted Voice
Rob and Lloyd talk with Kellie Webster, mentor and author of the children's books "Rebecca's Trick" and "Alexander's Trick". She talks about how the books came to be and the importance of teaching our children and grandchildren which voices we can and cannot trust. She testifies that some of the voices we can trust come in the form of ancestors who act as guardian angels for us.
You can pick up Kellie's books and other valuable materials from Life Changing Services here.

Changing Their Behavior
Rob is solo for this episode and shares an experience he and his wife recently had with his son that made him rethink where the focus should be when teaching his children. Using teachings of leaders and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rob talks about how we can become better teachers of our children and hopefully influence them to change behaviors that may need changing. He uses quotes from the following talks/articles:

"I Found Myself Being Polite To Satan"
Rob and Lloyd interview Jeremy, a courageous father who took the steps to rid his life of pornography. He has been free of it for over a year now and he talks about how he has done it, what he has learned in the process, and how his life has improved thanks to his success and efforts--and Heavenly Father's help.
If you are a father enmeshed in the vicious web of pornography addiction, or know someone who is, please consider the Men of Moroni program, which has helped many men learn Eternal Warrior principles to help them become free.

"What This Has To Do With Reality": Part 1
Maurice Harker, founder of Life Changing Services joins Rob and Lloyd this week for the first part of their discussion on self-mastery and how to apply gospel principles to life and parenting so you can become an eternal warrior fighting for the good of your family. Maurice gives some good parenting "hacks," including the Positive Assumption Technique.

"If I Don't Put the Relationship First ... "
The highest form of love is charity, and Rob and Lloyd explain what charity means to them, share experiences with charity, and talk about how important it is to develop it as a husband and father. To strengthen their points they use a few talks from general authorities past and present from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including this one from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and this one from Elder Hartman Rector Jr.
If you could use some help strengthening or repairing your marriage, Life Changing Services has several powerful resources to help with that, namely the Lazarus Lectures, and online Marriage Repair Workshops.

Expressions of Love
Love is always important to give, not just around Valentine's Day. Rob and Lloyd talk about the importance of showing love to the women who make us fathers--our wives. They are our most essential teammates.
If you currently happen to be in a marriage that is less than ideal, Life Changing Services can help. You can work together through the Lazarus Lectures, or individually in marriage repair workshops for men and women.

The True Measure of a Man
Rob and Lloyd discuss some things a father can do--and things he shouldn't do--to earn the respect of those most important to him: his wife and children. We rely heavily on this talk from Bishop H. Burke Peterson, former counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We also bring up this talk from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland about the quest for perfection. And here is the full quote we used toward the beginning of the episode.

Insights From A True Eternal Warrior
Often when you do something with the intent to help others you end up benefiting just as much as, if not more than, those you set out to help. Such is the case with Justin, who talks with Rob and Lloyd about how he found the Eternal Warriors program, how he was hoping it would help him in his work with the youth in his ward (he currently serves as a bishop), and some of the ways it ended up helping him more than he expected.

Tap Into Warrior Chemistry
Do you find yourself being a little too passive sometimes when it comes to being a father? Or when you do fight, are you fighting the wrong enemy? Rob and Lloyd discuss what Warrior Chemistry is, how to access it, and how vital it is to direct it toward the correct enemy. (Hint: his name rhymes with "Payton.")

Beginning With Your Why
Fathers Who Fight is back, and to begin the new year Rob and Lloyd discuss the importance of recognizing why you are in the fight. Knowing why you are fighting can and should motivate what you do as a father. They also discuss why they are fighting, a question we should ask of ourselves often.
Another good resource is this talk from then-Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

Planning To Win During The Holidays
It's been a stressful year on many fronts, and the upcoming holidays can bring even more stress. But Rob, Lloyd, and Bryton share a tool that can help you prepare yourself to make sure you can stay on top of your game, and that tool is the ability to prophesy for your own life where Satan will try to attack your stronghold.
In addition to learning from this episode, information about the value of prophesying for your own life can also be found in the book "Like Dragons Did They Fight." You can get a free PDF copy here or purchase a copy here.
We are taking a break from the podcast until the beginning of next year, so be sure to subscribe to be notified when the new episode comes out at the beginning of January. In the meantime you can still be in touch with us here. Take time to catch up on any of our episodes you may have missed, and pass the podcast on to those who might benefit most from it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
And most of all, keep fighting for all that is most important to you and your family!
Learn From Your Mistakes and Don't Give Up
Making mistakes and experiencing the consequences of them are no fun, but Rob and Lloyd share an indispensable tool in helping us learn from our mistakes--the Lost Battle Analysis. They take us through a Lost Battle Analysis and teach and learn some pretty powerful things from it.
Details on how to perform a Lost Battle Analysis can also be found in the book "Like Dragons Did They Fight." You can get a free PDF copy here or purchase a copy here.

Practice, Practice, Practice
If you want to get good at anything you need to practice. This includes being a father. Rob, Lloyd, and Bryton discuss how practice applies to fathering and how to set up practice drills that will help you develop the skills you desire as a father.
A really good resource that the guys mention in this episode is "Becoming Like Him" by Elder Scott D. Whiting from this most recent general conference.

Notice What You're Doing Right
Fatherhood is challenging enough without us getting down on ourselves, yet we probably do it more than we should. Rob, Lloyd, and Bryton discuss how important it is for fathers to notice what they are doing right and give some ideas on how to do that, and in the process neutralize the attacks of the adversary. Here are some great resources they reference to help with that:
You Can Do It Now! by Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Face to Face with Pres. Eyring and Elder Holland
"Quick to Observe" by Elder David A. Bednar
What Lack I Yet? by Elder Larry R. Lawrence
Armed With Righteousness by Steven A. Cramer and Donald Curtis
