The Featured Players: An SNL PodcastNov 03, 2020
Episode #42 - Timothée Chalamet / Bruce Springsteen (with Nick Bihm)
Timothée Chalamet has a famous aunt and uncle who got him into LaGuardia Airport but this week's guest, Nick Bihm of the "Dan4Lyfe" podcast, joins us entirely based on merit. Listen as Nick shows the gang his SNL Google doc which includes his favourite Kenan Thompson sketches. Generally everyone liked this episode of SNL which means no one knows quite what to do with themselves. Along the way there's a big digression about All That and The Amanda Show, as well as speculation as to whether or not Max Weinberg and Questlove chatted during the goodnights about what it was like to be the bandleader for the 12:37 NBC "Late Night" franchise. All the featured players got some solid roles last night, including Andrew and Punkie who have been gasping for airtime, if you will. So that was nice. We wish all our listeners a Happy Hanukkah and hope you join us again next week for our farewell to 2020 episode!
Episode #41 - Jason Bateman / Morgan Wallen (w/Sean Patrick O'Brien)
Did you miss us? Yeah didn't think so. The Featured Players return to talk Jason Bateman with special guest Sean Patrick O'Brien of Seltzercast and the new documentary 'Introducing...Juan Wauters'. Everyone has some choice 4 letter words for Morgan Wallen, Sean reminisces about how things on SNL were just a little bit simpler back in his day, and Brendan makes an embarrassing confession about laughing at one of Michael Che's Update jokes. But what you'll REALLY want to know is which Jason Bateman movie young Bram attended the world premiere of. It wasn't Office Christmas Party, but we sure talked a lot about that movie considered JB was not on the show to promote it. No one mentions Ozark. See ya next week!

Episode #40 - John Mulaney / The Strokes (w/Skylar Verduzco) [ELECTION 2020]

Episode #39 - Adele / H.E.R. (with Deirdre Crean)
Should we give up, or should we just keep chasing podcasts?
Musician/dental assistant’s friend Deirdre Crean from the Mike Myers Movie Club stops by to talk about the Adele-hosted SNL. Deidre explains if and how Adele gets paid for singing her own songs on television, Beth reveals the Oklahoman equivalent of a skyscraper, Brendan drops obscure architectural trivia for some reason, and Bram teases the listeners with an epic song parody idea that he will not go into further details on. Plus, just in time for spooky season, everyone has way too strong of an opinion on how to pronounce the title of the movie “Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later”. Whether you’re in Bad, Iowa or Nothing, Kansas, it’s important to vote for Joe Biden on November 3rd. That’s it. No punchline. The world is burning and democracy is on life support.
Episode #38 - Issa Rae/Justin Bieber [w/Kid Cinema (Fesh) and Mr Movies (JZT)]
Episode #37 - Bill Burr / Jack White
So many Bs! Beth, Bram, and Brendan return to discuss Bill Burr’s big breakout on SNL! Listen to find out why Beth predicts the season will end before the election (hint: it’s exactly the reason you think), Bram and Brendan debate how worried we should be about the sophomore FPs, and the three also discuss what the show might look like post-Lorne Michaels. Also, everyone cringes when subjected to Morgan Wallen’s apology video. But is it worst than Justin Bieber’s first ever appearance on Canadian religious television? We’re so thankful you chose to listen - your cheque for $150 will be mailed to you within 3 business days.

Episode #36 - Chris Rock / Megan Thee Stallion
Bram, Beth and Brendan return to talk about the first episode of the season featuring Chris Rock and Megan Thee Stallion. In this episode we evaluate the current state of the Featured Players roster. Learn about our disappointments! Or perhaps it was actually pretty good? It's the premiere so who can believe that. We also talk about our thoughts on how the show is handling recording in a studio during a nationwide pandemic. Featuring voicemail from Gillian Oakley of the Dadcast.

Episode #35 - Season 46 Preview
Reboot fever continues! Following their lengthy legal dispute over the podcast’s ownership (and countless NDAs), hosts Bram Benderoff and Brendan Noel are back, now joined by musical guest and baby in residence Beth Benderoff (no relation). In their season 46 preview show, the trio try to predict just what an SNL season produced in Studio 8H during the COVID-19 pandemic will look like. There’s talk about whether the show’s largest ever cast (20!!) will overwhelm the three new featured players – Andrew Dismukes, Lauren Holt, and Punkie Johnson – and our regret to inform you that the celebrity cameos are at it again. Plus, the stupid co-hosts reflect on SNL’s last presidential election season and how overconfident they all were that Hillary would win instead of playing “Hallelujah” on the piano in a somber cold open. Stand down and stand by, episode 36 on the premiere with Chris Rock drops next! Featuring a voicemail by Bode Sulaiman!

Episode #27 - Chris Pine/LCD Soundsystem (with Beth Benderoff) #LikeAKissingBooth
Original Airdate: May 9, 2017
We're back after a long 2 month absence, which for some reason was only 3 episodes? The first ever Featured Players situation of a guest recording in the same location as a host! Beth Ann Benderoff (formerly Goodin) rejoins the podcast in a worthy earning of a 5-timer title. We pretty much forget that Chris Pine hosted and talk about Gong Show's Tommy Maitland for hours and hours.
Episode #26 - Octavia Spencer/Father John Misty (with Lyndi Malley) #AmericanLaughRiot-UpAllNight
Original Airdate: March 7, 2017
We are back after a month! Episode 25 got lost in the 'This Is Us' crock pot fire (thank you Taylor Cotter for participating). It will be lost forever, and now we have 26. Three Idiots Praise The Master of Disguise for Two Hours
With recurring guest Beth Goodin, we recorded on Sunday to talk about Benedict Cumberbatch hosting SNL. He was surprisingly great in a mixed bag of an episode. Donald Trump also won the Presidency on Tuesday. I'm sure we talk about the election but we definitely didn't know he would win, so don't bug us if we don't mention it.
Post-Trump mourning mode made me not provide time codes for this episode but I'll tell you that Benedict Cumberbatch's name doesn't come up until we hit the monologue around 40 minutes in. This was a chill hangout vibe. A lot of Master of Disguise chat occurs.
America got what it deserved.

Mo Collins No Problems, y'all. It's pretty messy, so strap in and listen to us talk about this show you probably haven't thought about in 7 years, having to cope with surviving in the ever-exceedingly connected world.
Sweet, sweet content for the 18-39 demo mass.

Episode #10 - Ghostbusters & Emmy Nominations (with Christian Becker) #AllGrimersMatter
Original Airdate: July 20, 2016
Hi Ho! Cherry-O, its finally Episode 10 of the very underwhelming Featured Players podcast. We've made it far enough to reach our first episode that does not directly focus on SNL, however, Leslie Jones (a current Featured Player) and Kate McKinnon (a current cast member) happen to have starred in Ghostbusters reboot which we have seen! And we talk about it! Invited on the show to join our two-timers club is Christian Becker (Twitter: TheAmazingBeck), whom is actually the guest on our most popular episode ever. The Emmy nominations also came out this week and that is also discussed. I have time-coded things so you don't have to be bored, but if you are a diehard (you are), you're gonna want to consume all this tasty CONTENT to your heart's content.

Episode #9 - Fred Armisen & The Do-Over & Maya & Marty #OurWorstPodcastEver
Original Airdate: June 9th, 2016
Better late than never. Bram & Brendan are back (on NBC) for their very late and very brief discussions of the Fred Armisen hosted finale of SNL, and what this means for the general status of The Featured Players. We come to an ultimate conclusion that you'll have to play to find out.
We also complain about Showtime's handling of Homeland, review the new Adam Sandler Netflix joint 'The Do-Over', and slowly transition ourselves into a Maya & Marty podcast. Enjoy our sweet tangents throughout.

The good ol' boys are back and obviously we have forgotten how to podcast. No matter, we have invited Bode Sulaiman - a gem among us, to chat about Brie Larson's episode and the current state of the Featured Players. Oh yes, the Rudnitsky judgement days are coming, and we have 2 more weeks before it all becomes clear. Fun times to pay attention to our tangential babbling.

Episode #3 - Ariana Grande (with Lyndi Malley) #WhoIsThePatter
The good ol' Featie boys, Bram & Brendan, are back despite popular demand, ready to over-analyze the Saturday Night Live Featured Cast once again, and this is another disappointment in terms of those 4 Golden kids. Time to shake things up - the first guest on our show is none other than the incomparable Melynda Malley of The Adios Amigos podcast. Melynda, Bram & Brendan match wits in a battle of American rudeness, Canadian politeness and passive-aggression.
Listen/subscribe to Lyndi's show on Soundcloud or iTunes. https://soundcloud.com/theadiosamigos

Episode #1 - No. 8 White Boys (Pilot!)
Original Airdate: Feb 25, 2016
Holy Chalupa! Us terrifying TV nerds may have created the 7th or 8th SNL podcast, therefore this will establish some ground rules.
Each week we'll focus on the Featured cast members, and for our first episode we discuss both the Repertory Cast (04:15), and the Featured Cast (28:30). We announce a recurring segment (1:00:57), have an in-depth discussion about Fuller House & #PeakTV (1:05:46), and quibble over the prospects of Deadpool hosting SNL (1:28:05). Have a hoot and please clap.
