Feeling Fantastic | Natural Health & Well Being Solutions Podcast | Cardio Vascular Health and battling the Sedentary Lifestyle
In this episode, well-known and respected naturopath and nutritionist Jude Eisenhuth talks about how a sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of a variety of medical conditions. Long periods of sitting have been linked to cardiovascular disease, with the risk doubling. The risk of developing diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and other health conditions also increases but this can be greatly improved by exercise and Jude's specialty, the correct diet. It has become normal to spend long days sitting at a desk during the week, while commuting is often spent sitting in a car or on a bus or train. Leisure time can also be centred around sitting – watching TV, playing video games, using a computer or other device, sitting at a cafe with friends – all of which contribute to physical inactivity and a lack of exercise. Jude talks about improving our fitness routines, our diet, and also, and just as important our emotional and social interactions, all in an attempt to create an overall approach to aging well and postponing age-related disease.

Feeling Fantastic | Natural Health & Well Being Solutions Podcast | Weight Loss snd the Set Point
In this episode, well-known and respected naturopath and nutritionist Jude Eisenhuth talks about controlling the body's 'fat thermostat', also called the Body Set Weight (BSW) or SetPoint, which is the most important factor in how to lose weight. If your body set weight is set at too high as a body fat percentage, then any attempt to lose weight will result in the body trying to regain weight by increasing hunger and decreasing caloric expenditure. Therefore, it pays to focus on how to adjust the body set weight. Maintaining and managing weight can be tough. Over 42 percent of adults and 18.5 percent of children and adolescents have obesity issues. Setpoint theory states that our bodies have a preset weight baseline hardwired into our DNA. According to this theory, our weight and how much it changes from that set point might be limited. The theory says some of us have higher weight set points than others and our bodies fight to stay within these ranges. Jue explains all this in an easy-to-understand way that makes for a highly useful podcast.
