OPPENHEIMER || American Prometheus
The world will forever remember this year, as Christopher Nolan wrote and directed his biopic and WW2 masterpiece OPPENHEIMER (2023) with an ensemble cast of Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Kenneth Baranagh and Rami Malek. We knew the world would not be the same after watching the story of the father of the atomic bomb. We witnessed the live action of the trinity test and the consequences of Oppenheimer's deadly toy, making us leave the theatre silence. Our ears were captured by the amazing work of Ludwig Göransson. And let's not forget the non-linear narrative Nolan did having both colors and black & white, from the perspectives of Strauss and Oppenheimer.
The Northman || Fate and Vengeance
Who would've thought I'd break down another Robert Eggers film?
Not me. But this time I loved it. The Northman (1994) is a revenge viking epic with Aleksander Skarsgård as Amleth the viking whose fate is set to avenge his father after being killed by his uncle Fjolnir, and save his mother.
We talk it all with the story, the deep themes, Norse mythology, and being the sole inspiration of Shakespeare's Hamlet, which led to the Lion King (1994).
SE7EN: Mediation of Evil
It's been seven months since our last episode of this podcast. This movie is film for the season premiere of Films Unchained, as we're going to break down SE7EN (1995).
7 Deadly Sins with 7 Victims in 7 Days. That’s all it takes to make this story and for David Fincher to direct as he likes to call Se7en the 'mediation of evil.'
Everything about it, such as the 7 deadly sins, the psychology of John Doe, and the alternative endings proposed for this story.
Welcome to Season 3 of Films Unchained.
Dark Rabbit Hole
Season finale is exploring the good, the bad, and the ugly of chasing the white rabbit, and being as mad as a hatter.
It’s time we break down the dark side of ALICE IN WONDERLAND - Both 1951 Disney and Tim Burton's Live Action 2010. From the origin of the story with the author Lewis Carroll and his controversies with Alice Liddell to the elements of horror used in wrestling. This season finale is going to be full of curiosity. As David would say, falling down the DARK RABBIT HOLE!

How To Rewrite HANNIBAL (2001)
Silence of The Lambs (1991) was a masterpiece. But HANNIBAL (2001) sucked and failed to exceed expectations, especially when directed by Ridley Scott. Also, Julian Moore was bad as Clarice Starling. In this episode, we break down what went wrong with the film, before I present my version of the story on what HANNIBAL (2001) could have been, and of course the good parts of the film will be kept.
Got it?
Okey dokey..

CINEMA IS BACK
Our last episode of 2022 will discuss how cinema is redeemed this year after suffering from the awful pandemic for the past 2 years. Streaming services have been on the rise with their subscriptions and theatres suffered from the pandemic in bringing people watching the film in the big screen.
The discussion of this episode breaks down the films I selected that brought cinema back to its feet. This includes the features of the movies, production and box office. We then conclude this episode on what 2023 has to offer with many films coming up, especially Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023).
Potential SPOILERS for those who haven't watched some (if not all) films to be discussed here.
Hence the title of this episode “CINEMA IS BACK”
Full Metal Jacket Part 2: War and Beyond
Welcome to another 2-Part Pod-Series with Films Unchained and Take 97: A Film Podcast.
In this episode, we will be breaking down Stanley Kubrick's 9th film FULL METAL JACKET (1987), his epic war film set in Vietnam. Here we will break down with David the war itself after the ruthless military training by the infamous Sgt. Hartmen. We get to talk about the process of dehumanization and losing innocence as we look at the plot with Private Joker, Cowboy, and Animal Mother.
Part 1 of this discussion is already available on Take 97: A Film Podcast with the man and THE DRAW, David Ingram - with the link of the episode below:

Werewolf By Night || Movie Review
This episode of Films Unchained will look at WEREWOLF BY NIGHT (2022), a Marvel Studios Halloween Special exclusively on Disney+ directed by Michael Giacchino. We will specifically REVIEW this Monster Mash special and just talk about it.
This 1-hr special presentation marks the first horror content done by Marvel and a love letter to the classic monster films of the 1930s. We will be reviewing this Marvel Monster Mash and talking about its high perception given by viewers and critics. We will be reviewing this Marvel Monster Mash and talking about its high perception given by viewers and critics.
Angel Heart || Satanic Mystery
We're going to break down one of the most underrated and influential films of all time ANGEL HEART (1987) written and directed by Alan Parker, starring Robert De Niro and Mickey Rourke who was at his best role in my opinion. And let's not forget Zoe Kravitz' mother, Lisa Bonet.
This film was shocking, twisting and dark as it was a mystery and horror film I went through hell just to watch it, and it was worth it. We’ll analyze such an underappreciated film - with the story, the symbols, just to name a few.
Breaking Down THE LIGHTHOUSE.....
Let Neptune strike ye dead, Winslow. HARK!!
This episode of Films Unchained will break down THE LIGHTHOUSE (2019) - starring Willem Dafoe, Robert Pattinson, a decapitated head, and a mermaid... I can’t believe I’m putting myself through this. But I got to talk about it - the themes, the acting, the influence of Eggers writing it, co-producing it, and directing it. Let see where this goes.
No seagulls were harmed in this film.
American History X
So I guess this where I have a description. As you know, we're breaking down AMERICAN HISTORY X - the film where Edward Norton is a neo-Nazi white supremacist blinded by anger and rage after losing his father in a hit-and-run. But later on, he made changes for himself and want to ensure that his loved ones will not fall in the same path as he did. This film is important to watch and discuss as it talks about racism, crime and punishment, equality, human rights, and redemption. We break down the origin of Derek's racism that led him to his racist beliefs. We talk about how this film was Tony Kaye's debut to directing, only to kill his momentum. There's more to it.
My Top 10 Films of the Pandemic Era
We never want to experience the awful Corona pandemic ever again. However, we can’t deny that many great films were released in that era, with the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Batman, and Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness.
With that, we’re going to list my top 10 favourite films of the pandemic era. We cover the films that were released between February 2020 and May 2022. The pandemic era is filled with many films available on Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max - and they were very much needed during quarantine.
Here are some honorable mentions: DUNE, Cruella, Luca and Last Night in Soho.

The Godfather || The Pinnacle of Gangster Films
THE GODFATHER (1972) - Starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Talia Shire, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, James Caan, and John Cazale - celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and right here in Films Unchained we’re celebrating the film being the pinnacle of the gangster genre and Hollywood films.
We’re going to analyze the important scenes and symbols in the film that foreshadow events and have hidden details. We’re going to talk about parts in the book not making it to Coppola's final cut, and then we discuss how THE GODFATHER is an important movie to watch. This is my way of celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
Salud!
Requiem For A Dream
This episode of Films Unchained will break down Darren Aronofsky's 2001 independent masterpiece REQUIEM FOR A DREAM (2001). One of the strongest, most depressing film to break down yet, this film is about drugs, addiction, loneliness, and avoiding reality.

Reservoir Dogs || Tarantino's Perfect Debut
“Are you gonna bark all day little doggie? Or are you gonna bite?”
Quentin Tarantino’s RESERVOIR DOGS (1992) is celebrating it's 30th anniversary and we're doing so right here on Films Unchained. This has to be the perfect debut in his career as a writer and director, marking this as a strong beginning of his legacy and creating more of his movies all the way to ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD (2019) which we broke down on Take 97: A Film Podcast.
We will break down the story and analyze the moments that foreshadows who was the rat/cop all along. Then we discuss how Harvey Keitel helped Quentin Tarantino to start his career, Stanley Kubrick's early work inspired the movie, and his scenes becoming influential before we conclude on why this film was perfect for Tarantino's debut as writer & director.

Parasite || The Metaphorical Masterpiece
PARASITE (2019) directed by Bong Joon-ho is recognized as one of the best films of the past decade and received many accolades, including Best Picture and Best International Film at the Academy Awards. Also, the film is known for its deep symbols, visual language, and major plot twists that shocked us all. This film is a masterpiece!!
Right here, we're going to identify the symbols and the theme of the story, and we will answer the question: "Who is the parasite?"
We're also going to talk about the preparation of the movie, and the letter Joon-ho was given by the legendary Martin Scorsese after the Oscars. It's a great episode on an amazing movie!

The Batman || A Real Change
THE BATMAN (2022) has finally premiered after 2 release date delays due to the harmful COVID-19 outbreak, and got us excited since we first saw the trailer on March 2020. We break down this film with the characters and portrayals, awesome moments and elements, and read the reviews from the amazing community of movies and podcasts. We talk about how the film was supposed to be set in Arkham with Deathstroke as the main Villain taking place in the Snyder Universe. ALSO, we compare the plot to the initial idea of the story I had from our last season's episode The Batman || Something In the Way. If you haven't watched the film yet, why are you here in the first place?
Huge shout out my good friend Bassem, David of Take-97: A Film Podcast, and Tommy Nuggetz of CTSO Podcast for sharing your thoughts and inputs on the film. They're full of quality and covered the important elements of the discussion!
