The Growth Mindset Podcast

By Frida Arriaga

Hello there! My name is Frida Arriaga and I am a senior high school student in California, United States. I consider myself an industrious and gregarious being, but like any other person, I have doubted my abilities, feared about the possibility of failure, and questioned what my purpose in this world is. In this podcast, I will interview phenomenal individuals who also doubted their skills at some point in their lives, but persevered through the obstacles that were thrust upon them and accomplished great things in the process.

Yolanda Nava | Emmy Award-winning Broadcast Journalist, author of “It’s All in the Frijoles” & more!

Raised in the city of Los Angeles, Yolanda is a renowned woman who has accomplished various things. From being the the co-Founder of the first TV station in the nation owned and operated by a Mexican American woman, to publishing her book “It’s all in the Frijoles” (which features varios wise sayings based on interviews with dozens of famous Latinos; like Pepe Aguilar and Isabel Allende), many would say that Mrs. Nava has earned the “golden ticket” of life. However, just as her life has had ups, there has been some unfortunate downs. In the year 2009, she lost her eyesight due to an undiagnosed autoimmune illness that almost claimed her life. However, this setback didn’t break the strong Yolanda Nava, and instead inspired her to write her second book “Through the Dark”.
