From a seemingly random placed prayer in the middle of the records in First Chronicles comes the prayer of Jabez, asking the Lord to "bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!" the Bible passage is 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.

2. Promotes family stability-- The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. (Prov. 20:7)
3. Secures God's blessing-- The LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11b)
4. Makes us more like Jesus-- Teacher we know you are a man of integrity. (Matt. 22:16b)
