S07 E085: Shireen Spencer & Rebecca Doner: ALL THE THINGS
This episode features an inspiring conversation with Rebecca Doner and Shireen Spencer asking how do we figure out how to do “all the things” When God is calling us to something He is often calling us to say no to something else and we are not always good at that. They talk about letting go and how we do not have to everything, we just need to be doing the things that God is calling us to do.
Shireen on the danger of comparison and how it can stop us from stepping into what God has for us:
“We compare ourselves to what other people are doing. Failure is a big piece because I already don’t feel good about myself, I already can not be that woman, I could never be as good as…and we fall into this whole comparison thing which then leads us into negativity talk which then leads us to believe that it is just not for us.”
Shireen in her words is FIRST the daughter of the most High God. She is also an author, speaker, podcast host, a Christian recording artist as well as a Church of the Nazarene credentialed minister who has served since 2005. She is working to connect people to God through the Word, Worship and Working Relationships. Shireen has pastored in two different churches working with youth, families and couples; leading worship, choirs and preaching. She is expanding her ministry to work with churches and Christian organizations in the areas of speaking, worship leading, and working with couples. Shireen is also a Gather Women Internship Alumni and one of our brilliant and faithful Gather Blog contributors.

S07 E084: Ligia Andrade & Cathie: ALL THE THINGS
This episode features an inspiring conversation with Cathie Ostapchuk and Ligia Andrade all about knowing your value from God while feeling pressure to prove yourself amidst culture expectations and injustice.
Ligia on what what drives her passion in this season:
“Sometimes I still feel that I need to prove myself not from a place of worth. But just because of who I am - a woman and a Latina. Because I can not change those things. So, what I often do is surrender that all at the feet of Jesus and not have those two things bear weight as me as a person.”
Ligia is a wife, mother, ministry leader, but most importantly, she is a daughter of God. She and her husband, Alan Andrade, are the proud parents of three beautiful children and a pup.
Ligia loves sitting in coffee shops and connecting with various people from her community, either online or in-person, to share her story of God’s goodness and faithfulness throughout her life. Ligia was born in Antigua, Guatemala. Her parents were church planters who illegally immigrated to the USA, and were then given the opportunity to establish their young family in Canada.
Ligia, along with her husband, launched ANEW Ministries which is dedicated to building community, nurturing friendships, and fostering the love of God by connecting women.
Ligia is passionate about seeing others experience the redeeming power of Jesus and is committed to being hands and feet of Jesus in her community.

S07 E083 Advent Week 4 - Peace with Lori Jones
This week we wrap up our special four-part advent series on Advent by diving into the topic of peace. Rebecca sits down with her great friend and sister-in-law Lori Doner Jones to start a conversation with all of you about how we can all find Peace this Christmas season.
Lori Doner Jones on Finding Peace:
“I think that peace is pretty elusive in our culture right now, I think that there is a real problem with people feeling any sense of peace, and think it is because we are all striving and we are all constantly seeking some kind of contentment that just seems out of our reach”
“I think most women have that nature to want to fix everything and to want to control it and think part of having peace is about accepting that we do not control everything, that God is sovereign and that there are going to be moments in life, a lot of moments in life where we have to accept that it is not going to look perfect.”
Lori Doner Jones leads the Women’s Ministry at Springvale Church, and is the founder of a ministry called REVIVE. REVIVE challenges women to seek God with determined purpose by being a space of opportunity and encouragement for women who are called to teach and speak. Lori is a wife of almost 22 years and mother to two sweet daughters. Lori is a gifted Bible teacher and writer has recently helped write and teach the curriculum for Springvale’s most recent Bible Study in Ephesians and is working on helping write a new study coming in the spring.

S07 E082 Advent Week 3 - Joy with Shelley Bechtold
Continuing in our break from our incredible conversation with ordinary, yet extraordinary women all across Canada in our ALL THE THINGS series we move to the next week of our special Four-Part Advent Series. This week Cathie and Shelley from Operation Christmas Child sit down and talk about what it means to truly seek JOY this Christmas season.
Shelley on why having joy as the focus is so important:
"Galations 5 talks about joy being a fruit of the sprit. So, being spirit-filled is more the goal than being joy-filled. Joy comes from gratitude in who God is and how He is working through us. We have strength to choose gratitude over our circumstances."
Shelley Bechtold is the Partnerships and Promotions Manager for Operation Christmas Child. She lives in Strathmore, Alberta with her husband Warren and their cat, Keelan, who is an only child. Her work allows her to share with people the wondrous things that God is doing through the gift filled shoeboxes distributed around the world. Shelley greatly values the power of prayer so often find her in the warehouse walking and praying. You can follow her on Instagram @Shoebox_Shelley or Facebook @Shelley Bechtold OCC where she posts regularly all things shoebox and her passion for the ministry. S07 E081 Advent Week 2 - LOVE with Stacy Mattheis
Continuing in our break from our incredible conversation with ordinary, yet extraordinary women all across Canada in our ALL THE THINGS series we move to the next week of our special Four-Part Advent Series. This week Rebecca and Stacy, friends and both members of the Exec. Team here at Gather Women jump into conversation about all things LOVE.
Stacy on the simplicity and magnitude of God’s love:
“Love is a recognition that I can’t do this on my own and that because I am sacrificially loved and given the gift of salvation who am I to pick and choose and to take something where the beauty of it is the simplicity of it. Sometimes we try to dress it up, but that is just not what it is. This Christmas I hope we can all find the simplicity of God’s love and just stand in it.”
Stacy Mattheis lives in Red Deer, Alberta with her husband Tyler and two of their three adult children. Stacy homeschooled all three, has served in many different areas of ministry in her local church from Women’s Ministry, technical teams, spiritual formation, family ministry, and she is a key member of the Executive Team of Gather Women. S07 E079: Bonnie Pue & Cathie: ALL THE THINGS

S07 E078: Kim Hutchins & Rebecca: ALL THE THINGS
This episode features a great conversation with Rebecca and Kim Hutchins from North of Toronto, ON about balancing all the things they do, and how there is freedom found in realizing we should be championing one another and that we are not in competition with one another as we are all called differently and defined in Christ. That “we are all working together for God in our own way, but we are all working as one body” (Kim)
Kim on the freedom of recognizing the value of all we do and our time:
“I think it comes down to the fear that if I show my weakness or I show my hand that I have all these things in the air then they are not going to ask me or consider me for this project or position, so I think we kind of hold our cards close as a protection so we can look like we have it all together but I don’t know about you, but recently I have found a freedom in just letting it all out”
Kim Hutchins is a homeschooling, house-renovating, fitness-loving wife with four kids who has transformed her passion for serving in her local church into a growing ministry that equips the Canadian Church for greater influence through serving.

S06 E007: Living Creatively with The Holy Spirit & The Unapologetic Church
In this episode, first you will hear Kaitlyn Cey and Jocelyn Freeman have a conversation on Living Creatively with the Holy Spirit. Jocelyn is a Pastor at Jubilee Christian Centre in Calgary, Alberta. She has become a trusted voice and mentor, teacher, and speaker. Jocelyn is known for her daring and creative speaking style. She isn’t afraid to think outside of the box to capture her audience’s attention. She is an inspirational presenter who openly shares her story and experiences.
Next Elizabeth Ojo talks with Annie on The Apologetic Church as millennial women, whose generation often embrace the invitation to address controversial topics such as women in church leadership. In an era where "Cancel Culture" is unfortunately prevalent, how should the church navigate tough topics? They believe that the church should be aware of the perception of the world but not conform nor be a slave to it.
The church and its response towards current events should be rooted in the bible and once the truth is unapologetically spoken, although it may be perceived as offensive, they know that the whole truth is freeing. They encourage all women to take new ground and their prayer is that the church’s message, fully rooted in the Word, will lead the way as many women boldly step into their calling.

S06 E006: Voices of Adventure and Obedience
In this episode, first you will hear Caroline Thiessen and Lauren Greene. Their conversation will help encourage other women to put their faith into action and will encourage women to walk in wholeness and freedom.
How and where do you find your identity? Your true, authentic identity is solely found in Christ. When your identity is built on a firm foundation that doesn’t change and is constant you have the strength and ability to trust without borders and have the confidence to take bold Godly risks.
Why aren’t we living with such boldness and faith like the people in The Bible? We worship an almighty and all-powerful God who can do anything. If we truly believe God is the God of the impossible shouldn’t our lives reflect that? When your identity is strong, firm and you know who you are in Christ you can believe the promises He has spoken to you with bold confidence and trust that He will come through for you no matter your surrounding circumstances.
Next, as a former ‘risk manager,’ Jen shares her personal story of how she became a ‘risk taker’ by learning how to silence the inner critic, accept God’s invitation, embrace risk and simply start saying one “yes” at a time.
Jen explains that her pattern of risk aversion had spiritual implications. By staying in her “comfort zone” she wasn’t letting Jesus be LORD of her life. This way of living was robbing her of a deeper intimacy with Him.
Our relationship with God is meant to be one of trust and abiding, obedience and faith. A life of adventure with Him! We must open our hands in surrender to God, fill our hearts with his promises, and put our faith into action by stepping into all that he has for us.
Let this story and teaching encourage you to say “Yes” to God’s invitation to join him where he is at work in this season of your life. Go ahead and do that ‘thing’ he’s asking you to do, knowing that risk is always safe with God and watch your life be transformed.

S06 E003: Multifaceted Masterpiece
In this episode Rebecca Doner takes you through her experience of learning to embrace her multi-vocational life. For a season she felt that all the different areas of life were in conflict and this caused her to life a fragmented life. Over time God revealed that all the places she had been called were all part of one great masterpiece of His design.
Sometimes we are called to a clearly defined single lane and sometimes we are called to a four lane highway where we move in and out of lanes. What is important is that all our lanes are pointed in the right direction and that we are pursuing the heart of Jesus in all we do.
Rebecca Doner is wife to her high-school sweetheart, and mom to four amazing kids. She works full time in business partnership with her sister-in-law. She serves on the Elder’s board at her local church and is actively involved in several ministries there. She is a speaker who eagerly uses her voice to impart God's love, freedom, and truth to the world. Most recently she has felt led to serve on the executive team at Gather Women - a national women’s ministry, and in her ‘spare time’ is studying for her MTS (Masters of Theological Studies) at Tyndale Seminary."

S06 E002: Voices of the Next Gen in Our Nation
In this episode we will hear from two incredible women from the Gather Voices 2021 cohort.
Joyce Chang interviews Gabrielle Phua on the topic of being wholly content.
Christians are often told to be content, to be grateful for what we have. But the reality is, life happens. Sometimes we just want more or better. Sometimes we just can’t help but compare, control, and perfect. Desires are not always bad, but we need to be careful that it doesn’t change our attitude towards God, and therefore, our relationship with him. So, what does it look like to be content with who we are and where we are in life? The secret lies in stopping, reflecting, and giving thanks. A discipline that can and needs to be trained in an overwhelming world. Join Joyce Chang and Gabrielle Phua as they chat about the complexity of being content in every season.
Next, we will hear Kaitlyn Tabet interview Hannah Hansen on raising and releasing the next generation.
How do we support the next generation of girls as they develop their faith? As cultural norms shift around mental health, rest, and acceptance; leaders are developing a part of faith focused on support we haven’t seen in young leaders before. We also look at the struggle of fighting for Justice and mercy in the cancel culture we live in. Lean into this conversation to learn more about how to support and encourage the next generation of leaders.
