Domestic Violence w/ Jason Ward - Gen Green
Warning: this podcast will be discussing abusive relationships and domestic violence. Other topics such as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse will be discussed, amongst other topics. Listener discretion is advised.
This week we dive into a discussion on domestic abuse, violence, nicotine abuse, and how these issues intersect with our charming guest Jason Ward of El Dorado County's abuse prevention programme. During this discussion, we were given insights into the nature of the abuser, the role of mental health, and then looked back on the not-quite-healthy media we consumed in our youth and how that relates to upholding an anti-victim culture.

This week the Gen Green crew is interviewing the one and only Chris Chavez, the Deputy Policy Director of the Coalition for Clean Air of the Greater Los Angeles Area. We begin with a rundown on what the CCA does, crap on Big Tobacco and Big Oil, then go into more fundamental questions that arch back into why youth like the YAFT Coalition are even involved in political engagement. Tune in for more of Johnny’s “lib dunking,” Jenny’s Spongebob memes, and Chelsea’s scientific expertise next week as the Gen Green crew does its part in securing a green future.

The Afghan Perspective - Gen Green
**Warning: This episode contains frank discussion on adult subjects like world events, and historical atrocities, as well as open political discussion. Listener discretion is advised.**
Today we rope in two amazing friends of the show, Fareha and Setara, to discuss their experiences as refugees from the now former Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. First the discussion is slow and deliberate with more anthropologically themed probes into their life and culture, but our wonderful guests help transition the conversation into their thoughts and observations on the recent events regarding their native country. Also, capybaras!
Also, the book mentioned by Fareha is "A Thousand Splendid Suns," by Khaled Hosseini, an Afghan novelist who similarly tells his experience as a refugee. Pick it up at your local library or, for university students, contact your local Middle Eastern or Afghan Student Union and organize with them to help elevate the voices of the diaspora.

Conspiracy Theories Strike Back! (PART II) - Gen Green
**Warning: This episode contains frank discussion on adult subjects like world events, and historical atrocities, as well as open political discussion. Listener discretion is advised.**
Conspiracy theories continue! This week we continue a measured jab into the sociology and political economy of conspiracy theories with a new roster of theories ranging from gruesome, grand, to downright bizarre. The foundational texts that helped us understand why these conspiracy theories form are the Age of Surveillance Capitalism by Dr. Shoshana Zuboff, The Peoples' Republic of Walmart by Leigh Phillips and Michal Rozworski, and finally, the classic The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State by Friedrich Engels. In this episode the Gen Green crew uncovers the deep secrets of Chelsey being an insane conspiracy theorist, Jenny's prior job, and Johnny's shameful title as a wumao.
If you have any more theories to contribute or further discussion on this topic, please contact us on our social media and we’ll bring in some of your input on a future episode! A Counterblast to Tobacco --- Gen Green History Hour
As a diversion from the main content of the program, the Gen Green crew flexes their history credentials by doing over a basic history of tobacco. In this gaze into the annals of history, we hope that that these observations will construct a more well-rounded perspective of history, especially in regard to the American economy and how it developed the demographics and politics of the United States and her neighbors three hundred years hence.

Discussing the Vape Epidemic w/ Dr. Halpern-Felsher - Gen Green
As has been referenced on tonight’s episode, here is the listing for The Devil’s Playbook: Big Tobacco, Juul, and the Addiction of a New Generation by Lauren Etter on Jeff Bezos’ evil monopoly that is killing the planet, evading billions in taxes, illegally busting unions, and imposing unsanitary and harmful conditions for his employed labor. Though not connected to any direct advertising for the book, as health advocates we must read, well, modern Big Tobacco’s playbook to best counter it. Enjoy the read!

Green New Deal 101 - Gen Green
*The views represented by single members of the YAFT Coalition do not represent the entirety of the YAFT Coalition*
This week the crew decides to step back and do a workshop episode on the Green New Deal, a green energy/employment/social investment program championed by left-of-center parties from Seoul to Seattle. The first section is a quick rundown that attempts to fairly and evenly dissect this policy proposal. The second half transitions to criticisms of the policy along with other discussion - at which Johnny has controversial beliefs and chides Chelsey while Jenny nearly suffers a heat stroke.

Anti-Tobacco Power Hour w/ Ariana from LUCHA - Gen Green
On this episode our guest Ariana Ponce from LUCHA Tobacco (Latinos Unidos Contra el Habito y Adiccion al Tabaco) talks briefly about her time as an organizer for the Latino-advocacy group under the Health Education Council - mainly the issues faced by half of California's population and ways that we, as communities and concerned citizens, can organize to build better health outcomes for everyone. Further on, the entire crew sidelines the conversation to dunk on Big Tobacco, lament at the erosion of privacy through commercial social media, and relate to Johnny's experiences as a former smoker.

Big Tobacco & BIPOC America - Gen Green
The Gen Green crew brings in the Solano County policy specialist Alix Winston in to discuss the epidemic of tobacco abuse in African-American communities and the recent propaganda wave whipped up by the industry in light of the flavored cigarette ban in California.
