For Episode 20 I was joined by James Dowler

James is a breathwork specialist and teaches people how to use the breath as a vehicle for healing and optimising their physical and mental health.

James suffered from chronic fatigue & chronic pain and then discovered meditation to help alleviate it. Fast forward 6 months all his symptoms had gone after practicing more specifically with breath work. James took a leap of faith, left the ‘day job’ and now spends his time teaching people to harness the power of their breath to alleviate emotional issues, improve their physical health and connect them to a deeper, more spiritual part of themselves.

I leant so much myself in this episode and now see how we can use the breath as a skill. We did a deep dive on...

In this episode, we discussed so much and his energy and passion for life really shone through and was he was certainly not afraid to get vulnerable.

There is honestly something for everyone in here and I had such a rollercoaster recording this one. From the laughing, singing and stone-cold silence as we went deep on his journey and past struggles.

We also spoke about the current education system and challenges we all face today in society, not just at school but how to be a good leader and build resilience for life itself.

He kept me on my toes and make me think about my own journey and goals with the podcast and made me question alot.

Dan is a fitness enthusiast and athlete who is well ingrained in the Crossfit community.

Cam founded 'Rowing WOD' as a way to help athletes ‘Get To Grips’ with the beauty and technicalities of the rowing machine and created a community of like-minded individuals who follow his programming.

Cam also delivers seminars worldwide under the Rowing WOD umbrella and has now worked with some of the best athletes in the sport of Crossfit. We also get a flavor in this episode of our thoughts on the recent changes to the CrossFit games qualifying procedures and restructure.

We touch on how Cam manages his day and balances his priorities as an athlete, coach, doctor, business owner husband, and recent father.

For Episode 5 of the ‘Getting To Grips With..’ Podcast I traveled down to the big smoke to meet Paul Mcgregor.

Paul lost his dad to suicide 9 years ago and we delve into how he coped and came to terms with this tragic loss and what he is now doing to help inspire others to speak out. He has been featured on the likes of Vogue, Huffington Post GQ, and Esquire to name a few.

When I met him in London to record this episode he was also hosting his first mental health meet up where campaigners and amazing individuals took the stage to discuss some of their experience and battles with mental illness. This event was so inspiring to say the least.

We begin by discussing Lukes roots as an Ireland International rugby player and his incredible transition from leaving the pitch and going all in with his Success School movement, personal development business and men's mental health charity work.
