Hello! My name is Taishi, and I'm an English teacher located in Tokyo, Japan.
I've been teaching English mainly to Japanese businesspeople, but I'd like to try the opposite on Podcast--teaching a bit about Japanese to people outside of Japan.

I'm going to talk about some hot news and cultural trends in Japan and introduce some related Japanese words or phrases that might be interesting for you, who are...
-Currently learning Japanese
-Interested in the Japanese language
-Interested in Japan in general

Thank you so much for your support!

【Cultural-ish Insight】

Goshiki's bob cut hairstyle is referred to as おかっぱ in Japanese. The origin is the legendary creature kappa's (河童) head.  It doesn't look so close but it's because the referred hairstyle changed over time.

The "bun" hairstyle is called お団子(だんご)in Japanese, which literally means "a dumpling", and Asahi's "man-bun" is also called this way.

今さら:now (with the nuance of "it's too late")

【That Funny Moment】

Atsumu was totally dead after he failed to please his audience ("スベる" or "to slip") AND let Bokuto "steal the show". This may be due to his pride as Kansaijin, who are usually thought to have a good sense of humor. Poor Atsumu...
