"A Moment to Reflect"
Why does God ask us to remember our story?
One of the themes throughout the book of Deuteronomy is for Israel to remember their past in order to not lose gratitude for what God has done in their lives. We as Christians need to do the same.
Deuteronomy 5:15 -> the 4th commandment asks us to rest in order to remember
Deut. 8:1-2, 10-14 -> we will face tests to see if we remember God's blessings or become self-reliant
Deut. 16:9-12 -> Lets celebrate what God has done and invite everyone. {Luke 14:13-14}
Deut. 24:17-22 -> Remember our past and help meet the needs of the marginalized.
Ephesians 2:11-13, 19-22 -> We also were enslaved to and by sin but God saved us and brought us into his household.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 -> Remember the price paid for our freedom
Let us remember what we have been saved from and be lights to those around us.
"Watch & Be Utterly Amazed - God is in Control"
Today we look at the Prophet Habukkuk and how his words can help us today as we face an historical event south of the Border.
Habukkuk 1:1-4 -> Habby's complaint about the nations situation
Hab. 1:5-7 -> God's response not quite what Habby was looking for.
Hab. 1:12-13 -> Habby's continued complaint
Hab. 2:1 -> Habby's defiance
Hab. 2:2-4 -> God's 2nd response and is HE referring to Babylon or Judah's injustice?
Hab. 3:1-2 -> From Complaint to prayer. God is in control
Titus 3:1-8 / 1 Timothy 2:1-4 -> How as Christians we should respond in time like these.
Testing Reveals Our Heart
God allows situations in our lives to help reveal or expose what is truly going on in our hearts - in order to help us grow in our faithfulness to Him.
Matthew 4:1-4 -> Jesus first temptation
Deuteronomy 8:1-3 -> Context of Jesus quote is from Israel's time in the desert and referring to God providing for them. Trusting in God.
