Last August, 1st of 2022 former Tap Dog, Anthony Lo Cascio and his wife who is also not only a tap dancer, but a best friend of both Ernie and Rosita on Sesame Street Live tours, Staci Lo Cascio. We met up in St. Paul, we drank some nice bourbon, and talked about so many things from ASMR to Yerba Mate, to the Holy Trinity of Tap Dancing Anthonys where he reveals who their 4th member of honor is. Max Pollak was in town for the Twin Cities Tap Festival and stopped by Studio 101 last October. He shared stories of his life as a tap dancer, and also insights into Cuban music history, tap floor design tips, ideas on how to record body percussion. He even sheds some light on the nuances of the very rarely talked about “Austrian Clavé.”

Sarah Reich (Performer, Choreographer, Instructor, Composer) has emerged as one of the new leaders in the art form of Tap Dance. This Los Angeles native has been sought after to perform, choreograph, and teach in over 40 countries. "I want to continue to bring tap into mass media with great respect and quality," she says, focusing on "reprogramming the minds of the general public on their perception of tap dance." (Dance Magazine 2017)
Sarah has become one of the art form's pop culture ambassadors, thanks to her appearances in videos with Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox. Her videos with them have garnered millions of views on YouTube, all receiving rave reviews. She has toured the world with PMJ playing prestigious venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera House as well as a televised PBS special filmed in Las Vegas.
She is also creator of the Tap Music Project teaching tap dancers musicality with a live band in class.

#043 - 2♦️ - An update from Rick Ausland AND the previously-recorded episode featuring conversations with Bril Barrett, Sarah Reich, Davon Suttles, Evan Ruggiero, and Rush Benson.
This is one of my best episodes so far. I feel so much gratitude that you are listening to this one. Thank you.
On 8/25, the day before I was in a bike accident, I recorded episode #43. I connected my phone and microphone, and called tap dancer friends all around the country. Some answered including; Bril Barrett, Rush Benson, Sarah Reich, Evan Ruggiero, and Davon Suttles. Others who did not pick their phones were left voicemails including; Matt at Dancing Fair, Ricci Milan, Rusty Frank, Anthony LoCascio, and Ashley Gonzalez.
Then on the next day, 8/26, I flew off of a bike, hit my head and broke some bones. I tell the story here at the beginning of this episode along with an update. Then you will hear my phone conversations originally recorded 8/25 and unreleased until now.

BLACK LIVES MATTER. Period. This episode was recorded a month ago, days after the murder of George Floyd here in Minneapolis.
It has been difficult to formulate the words that express how I feel. It has been difficult to find the words that I feel will be valuable to the conversation. I have been doing a lot of listening. I will continue to listen. I believe Black Lives Matter and that we all have a lot of work ahead of us.
It is important to learn, to grow, to call people out when they are in the wrong, to speak up when you see racism or hear someone tell a racist joke.

Evan Ruggiero aka 'Lord Pegleg' and I had an epic conversation that lasted over 3 hours last October. We talked about everything from working with Jason Mraz, to performing on the Ellen show, to beating Issac Hanson at pool, to a move he learned from Clayton 'Pegleg' Bates called the "airplane." We even nerded out with a 2-man beatbox rendition of "YYZ" by Rush.

The second half of the episode is an improvised 31-minute "Tap Journey." #007 - J♦️- Matthew R. Shields Postmodern Jukebox Tour, Tap Dancing In The Polar Vortex On A 4'X4' Board, & Getting "Cut" On His Wedding Night Dance Floor.
Currently on tour with Postmodern Jukebox, tap dancer Matthew R. Shields invited us backstage at the State Theater in Minneapolis while the Stagehand Local 13 loaded in their gear.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of tap dancer and entertainer Ms. Mable Lee, on February 7, 2019 at the age of 97. Mable Lee was an American jazz tap dancer, singer, and entertainer. She had been performing since the age of four, appearing on Broadway, at the Apollo Theater, and in numerous other shows.
Lee was the 2004 winner of the Flo-Bert Award which honors "outstanding figures in the field of tap dance", and a 2008 Inductee into the Tap Dance Hall of Fame.
