Love & Forgiveness | Is Forgiveness Even Real? | HMIDP Ep 20
Is forgiveness even real?! Does it get easier as the relationship ages? We had to check ourselves in this episode and face some harsh truths about what forgiveness meant to each of us individually and also how we identify with the definition of 'forgiveness' as a couple. It gets pretty obvious early in the conversation that we had differing schools of thought during the first several years of our marriage. On one end of the spectrum, one of us forgave because that was the right thing to do. On the other end, one of us saw forgiveness as a weapon...or a pass to continue ignorant, immature behaviors. The tone of the conversation reflects our growth as a couple. We pray that it gives you hope, because there was a time when we couldn't or wouldn't operate in full transparency primarily to avoid serious conflict or as a way to manipulate a situation. As always, we welcome your thoughts on what forgiveness means to you and the importance it holds in your relationship. Share your thoughts via the related posts published through the social media accounts below or leave a voice note if you really want your voice to be heard. Be blessed, Fam.

We've Got Problems | A Conversation with LMFT Nicole Ward | HMIDP Ep 19
The idea of therapy can be an overwhelming concept for any relationship. Do both partners have to be onboard? What if one partner isn’t interested? Will this even help? The reality is we don’t have all of the answers, and neither will any therapist. The right therapist will open your eyes to who you are, your character strengths and weaknesses, and guide you into realizations that help you heal, and subsequently become a better person to offer your relationship. The real work is oftentimes individual, and once we set our egos aside to accept that, we can find greater clarity on what a successful relationship requires of us. This process usually isn’t that obvious. At least it wasn’t for us. I’m this conversation with LMFT Nicole Ward, we arrived at a few necessary aha moments that will help dictate some meaningful shot-term relationship goals that will strengthen our marriage. Hopefully, this conversation gives you hope, encouragement, clarity, or simply sparks a conversation that you might otherwise avoided. Let us know via a voice note or any of the social media links below. Be blessed, Fam.

Your Happiness Is Not My Responsibility | A Tough Conversation | The HMIDP Ep 17
Your happiness is not my responsibility. This is such an honest, but delicate topic. What is the responsibility of one spouse to another when it comes to being happy (or creating a happy environment). This is a very transparent conversation about where we are in our journey, and it definitely revealed that we have much work to do. Can one spouse (or partner) truly be happy knowing that the other is not? Wouldn't one's happiness rub off on the other? If only we had the answers. We'd love to hear your perspective via the voice note link below or by responding to any of the social media posts from the accounts below. Maybe we'll seek some guidance from the Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist that will be part of the conversation in a couple episodes after this one? Oh...y'all ain't know that we are actually trying to providing meaningful content that most of need? All for free.99. You're welcome! Seriously though, we are passionate about having or pursuing healthy relationships. Life is short, and happiness is fleeting. Please make sure that you communicate your feelings often, tell those whom you love that you love them today. Actually, do it now...then listen to the podcast. We appreciate you!

Why You Should Work With Your Spouse | Marriage & Business | The HMIDP Ep 16
Why you should work with your spouse. Or is it, should you work with your spouse? Hmmm... There are many reasons that can support either position. In this episode we discuss what we do and don't enjoy about the process of building our family business. As with any relationship, project, or presentation, communication is key. There are times when our personalities collide, and others when our personalities create a gap in responsibilities that impact the business. The best foundation a couple can lay is in the form of an honest conversation about what each wants the business to accomplish. If the business makes sense after that, add a few reasonable boundaries to keep the business on the right track, and more importantly, out of your bedroom. I mean, if the bedroom is the office, then do what you must. We believe you'll find value in this conversation (and all the others). Let us know how you feel by leaving a review where possible and tagging us in your related conversations on social media. For those that are more private, you can leave a voicemail for us via the link below and indicating that you want it to remain anonymous. We are on track to grow this podcast into the top 100 within the parenting category in 2022, and we appreciate your support along the way. Every listen is appreciated. Be blessed, Fam!

But, Who Asked You, Though? | Unwanted Relationship Advice | The HMIDP Ep 15
But, who asked you, though? No really...who asked you?! We've all felt like that at one point after receiving some bit of unsolicited life advice. How did you react? Frustration? Anger? Did you just laugh it off? In this episode we discuss how this can impact relationships (marriage in our case). It seems as if women are more likely to be inundated with unsolicited life advise than men? Do you agree? Everything from 'how to dress to get a man, how to keep your man...and how many kids to have.' THEE NERVE. When it's all said and done, people 'gon people. We'd love to hear your feedback via the comment section (where available) or using the Anchor voicemail link provided below. You might just be featured on a future episode, unless of course, you want your message to remain confidential. We get that and will respect it. We appreciate your support in helping this platform grow. Be blessed, Fam!

God Told Me To Quit My Job! | The Healthy Marriage Is Dope Podcast Ep. 10| #HMIDP
What's good, Fam?! We will be releasing a podcast each Friday. In this week's episode, we review the trauma that our children experienced due to the unfortunate situation at Timberview High School (look it up). We are blessed to have settled in a new neighborhood that afforded our children an opportunity to attend a different school, but they still have friends that were impacted by those unfortunate acts of violence.
The tone does shift to a less heavy topic after unpacking all of that. Entrepreneurship. Did Derek reeeaaallly hear a word from the Lordt?? Grab a snack and press play. Don't forget to get busy in the comments! Be blessed, Fam!

Would You Marry Me Again?
What's good, Fam?! Here we go again with another conversation that could potentially go left. We've been married for 16+ years and we both agree that there was a window for each of us when we wouldn't have chosen marriage again...or at least with each other. Please believe that the conversation started and ended in a healthy manner. Most importantly, we choose each other today. Are there any relationships in your life that probably wouldn't exist today if they were initiated at a different time or place in your life? Makes one ponder. Grab a beverage and a snack, and tap in with us for an hour or so. We appreciate every second of your time Be blessed, Fam.

F.Y.L.L. 👀
What's good, Fam?! In this episode, Kisha and Derek explore their updated love languages, and confront the notion of manipulating a partner based on their love language? They've. been married for almost 16 years, and had no clue that their love language priorities had changed. How can you teach someone to love you the way you prefer to be loved if you don't know how you prefer to be loved?! Let's discuss...
Episode 6 - Do We Still Dream?
What's good, Fam?! We're talkin 'Dreams' (how many of us have them?)...seriously tho. We're getting into our feelings about what dreams we have left, and what we're gonna do about them. Sometimes life gets in the way, but we all need to find those quiet moments to reflect on our dreams with childlike belief that they can still come true. Are you walking or working in your purpose? If yes, congrats, and welcome to the minority. If no, what are you gonna do about it? We appreciate you checkin in. Episodes will be dropping regularly. Be blessed, Fam!

What's good, Fam?! If you haven't checked out part 1 of this conversation (S1 Ep 4), slowly back away...and listen to that one first. Can the conversation get any crazier, or does Klass begin to align with Kisha or Derek's point of view? None of that matters as long as it sparks a conversation amongst your circle, with your significant other, or just in your mind. Let's discuss...

Tough Conversations: Whose Dreams Get Put On Hold?
What's good, Fam? Have you ever been asked to take a back seat to allow your partner to shine? Have you ever asked your partner to take a back seat so that you could shine? If you've been in a committed relationship for a considerable amount of time, chances are that you've been in this scenario whether you've acknowledged it or not. We certainly could've used this type of conversation 10-12 years ago. Let's talk about it.
