58 - The Spice 1 Episode
It’s time to give it up for the legendary bay area gangster, Spice 1. We have to go all the way back to 1991 to start this conversation when Spice 1 dropped his first EP, Let It Be Known, featuring the underground bay area classic, 187 Proof. From that point on, Spice 1 set the bay on fire with classics like Spice 1, Amerikkka’s Nightmare, The Block Bossalini, Immortalized (almost entirely produced by the big homie, Rick Rock) and many more. Just take a look at the features on the 1994 album, Amerikkka’s Nightmare. We are talking E-40, Method Man, and 2pac. Yeah, Spice 1 is and has always been that guy.

It's March 9. We hit ya'll with a special bonus episode tonight, saluting the Notorious B.I.G. and my old crew, 309. We all worked at the Wherehouse (a music and entertainment store in the Bay Area), store #309. We connected on our love of hip hop music, and have remained brothers ever since. So 3-09, is a special day to us. Sadly, Biggie was killed on March 9, 1997, so we always talk about this day and reconnect with each other. This year, we decided to do it live on the Hella Years Podcast. It's a fantastic episode honoring Biggie Smalls and the brotherhood I've shared with these amazing men for over 25 years.
