Episode 6: Heidi Henyon - True Calling

Joining me this week is Heidi Henyon.

Heidi is a 3-time International best-selling author. She is a coach, healer, speaker, and grandmother.

Heidi had a successful career in the computer industry for close to 20 years. Then, in 2001, she decided to leave to start her own business in helping others be successful in what they truly loved.

One of her most cherished accomplishments was starting Georgia’s Healing House in 2015 with two other lovely women. GHH is a place for women to live and learn the skills of sober living and having a successful and joyful life.

Heidi lives in Northern Virginia where she is renovating her family farm into a retreat center.

This episode was recorded in late October 2021. In this episode, Heidi shares her journey from a highly successful career in the corporate world to her true calling as a healer. If you are at a career crossroad, as so many of us are during this great resignation wave, this episode is for you. Heidi shares some advice based on her journey. Trust your intuition, stand up for yourself and be true to yourself.

Episode 5: *Special edition: December 6 observed

Episode 5: *Special edition: December 6 observed

There's power in women's stories.

There's power in women's voices.

This special edition is my reading of a passage from Melody Beattie's book, Journey to the Heart. The passage for December 6 is titled, Discover True Power. I thought it was fitting and poignant given this day of observance.

In Canada, December 6 is observed as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The day was established by the Parliament of Canada in 1991 to mark the anniversary of the 1989 murders of 14 women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal, who were killed because of their gender.

In Canada, and around the world, women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, plus), and gender diverse individuals face unacceptable violence and discrimination. Gender-based violence in Canada, and other countries, has been magnified and amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian Women's Foundation presents facts and some FAQs on gender-based violence. It offers information about shelters, support services, and resources.

There are people close to me who have experienced gender-based violence. I stand in awe of their strength and courage.

We all have a role to play. Continue to speak up. Advocate. We can end gender-based violence at the root.

In this inaugural episode, I share a bit about myself and the genesis of the podcast concept and its name. I also share the prequel to my story. A history that includes a literal journey with its haunting gaps that leave behind the mystery of an unsung hero.
