Dr. Ricky Spencer: 1 Million Turtles

A great chat with Dr. Ricky Spencer, Senior Lecturer of Zoology at the University of Western Sydney.

Ricky is the head of Wildlab and a researcher of vertebrate pest control methodologies. Ricky is the manager of TurtleSAT and WombatSAT, which are community mapping Citizen Science projects.

Did you know that over the last 40 years most common and widespread turtle species have declined by up to 91% because of introduced invasive species such as foxes who prey on their nests and eat adult females.

Ricky works on the 1 Million Turtles project, which aims to be Australia's largest community empowered conservation program to release more than 1 million extra turtles through South Eastern Australia each year.
