Memorhyme. Memorhyme. Remember Memorhyme? They are two top blokes: Rich and Kurly. They are real on-the-ground activists who use words and sounds and power to make people think and grow and learn. They create safe spaces for people to talk about tricky stuff like race and suicide then use creativity to express. They do consultancy with schools and organisations who want training. Basically, you've got to listen to this podcast episode. It will help you get to know yourself better.

Enter the 36 Chambers: Chamber 21: Navigator

Want tips on MC lyricism from an originator in the UK music scene? We had the incredible honour of hosting MC Navigator on Glowitheflow recently. MC Navigator presented the BBC's first ever Jungle radio show: Radio One's 'One in The Jungle'. He is an originator of the Jungle scene. His MC style was forged in the fires of Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae sound system dances. These live sessions were so loud and pumping, you had to make sure your voice carried on the mic. If not, you'd risk getting boxed in the head by a Rude Boy, or worse still, getting bottled 'til you got off stage.

Navigator is one to look up to and here he offers tips and advice on writing generated over years of mastering his craft in song-writing and vocal delivery. A qualified sound engineer; music producer and mentor of youth, he has everything covered that Hip Hop HEALS promotes so chatting was a real joy.

We first met Gardna, aged 19, at a Bristol free party. Hard to believe almost a decade has passed since we chatted in that derelict warehouse car park. Since then, he's gone on to make waves. Just before the pandemic, he was telling us how he'd been booked to play on a super yacht in Dubai. And it's no wonder. This Bristol-based artist is so talented, so fun, so good; you just have to listen to his music and check him out. He fuses elements from across the sound system spectrum to conjure up his own unique rhythmic blends. His music channels Bristol’s rich musical heritage and earns him critical praise from across the globe.

Fox is an MC with the silkiest, grittiest voice you've ever heard. Oxymoron, pow! He sings; he spits; he toasts in a way that is so satisfying to the ear. It's hard to find anyone who doesn't love his style. He was a youth worker in Manchester at a time when it was so violent, the press dubbed it 'Gunchester'. His approach to writing lyrics is to share wisdoms he has gathered along the course of his own life. That's one the role of an MC: share your wisdom so the next generation grow up better. Let's keep the tradition alive.

Ben and Kiz meet Duke01 from Nottingham on Zoom.  He is a fly MC. A funny bloke. A magnetic performer. CHECK OUT HIS BANDS : @_LastSons @Defgoldblum

What wizardy connects people through Hip Hop? This wizardy. Beats breathe life into lost souls. Aching hearts beat the drum. People vibe to the music. They shine in each other's shine. That's a live Hip Hop gig right there. That's how Kiz met Duke01. He was pouring his golden glow charisma into the crowd with bars like liquid honey. Metaphoric honey to the ears that is. They were roaring and powerful.

When you spend alone time with this constant friend, Hip Hop; you get to know each other pretty well. When life throws you stones, you carve a way forward. You brandish your soul passion as your sword. This is Hip Hop.

People go through hardship. They glow or grow bitter. That's something Ben passed to Kiz. Now Duke tells us how Hip Hop made his soul Glowitheflow with stories of school and segregation and hearing the story of your life from a completely different source, in a totally different place.

Living and loving through Hip Hop makes a friend for life. When shizzle gets tough, you blast on the beats and pump up the bass. Everything is suddenly OK. This is Hip Hop.

Welcome to Chamber 7 with Duke01.

Homeless sentinels stop street robberies. First responders. People watchers.

"No-one chooses to go out there because they've sat at school daydreaming: 'One day I aspire to be homeless,'" says Ben, Founder of Let's Feed Brum homeless charity.

In today's episode, we Zoom YT from @Making Change Studios, Brummingham. He's a conscious reggae MC from Ipswich who has followed Jamaican sound system culture since 1982. What is it and how has the island's mobile bass music disco culture influenced rap lyricism? Find out in Chamber 2 as YT shares tales from the dance.

He never did share 8 bars of Golden Nuggets for you to use as inspiration for your own creativity though. He bust out into half a song at the end instead. You're never gonna believe the tip he suggested for unblocking creativity...

All our remote Zoom interviews will appear soon online. Keep an eye on our Hip Hop HEALS' YouTube channel so you can check our funky Zoom backgrounds. Today's was a disappearing flyer for Kiz's annual fundraiser for Let's Feed Brum. We had a laugh in the studio with Greg and Ben appearing and disappearing into it like 70's sitcom ghosts.
