Hog Panic
Dan and Sam talk about the grim Bored Ape concerts, January 6th hearings and Mike Pence's brush with the hog mob, the ongoing GOP freakout over their children refusing to become homophobic and transphobic bigots, Hollywood's useless pledge to reexamine firearms use in the wake of Uvalde, and the hogs who can’t afford all the junk food they want to eat because of Joe Biden and his inflation. As usual, we ramble, it gets dark at times, and we have almost no idea of what we are talking about, but it’s your boys. Check it out.

Law and Order: Havana Syndrome (ft. Barto and Jack Phinney)
To make up for yet another extended hiatus, Dan and Sam slapped together a real barnbuster of an episode for the hogs. Return guest Barto (@ElBartoArmy) joined us for a wide-ranging discussion of ongoing hog happenings. We began on a more somber note, with a brief tribute to the king Gilbert Gottfried and desperate musings about our diseased, violent society in the wake of the unthinkable shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Luckily, we were able to lighten it up with Dan’s unwittingly encountering a GOP Congressman's interminable speech, Seth Green’s stolen Bored Ape NFT, and the chaotic Havana Syndrome episode of Law & Order. Be sure to stick around to the end for Jack, our Resident Soulsborne expert, who joined us to help Sam rip apart tech dingus Elon Musk’s atrocious Elden Ring build.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hogs of Power
On this one the hogs caught up with recent Epstein-adjacent developments, the Queen’s rather nasty bout of COVID, and Trump’s new TRUTH social media platform featuring Kodak Black. We spent the rest of the episode watching the clips, including the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a literal waste of a billion dollars spent on dated video game cut-scene level CGI and characters absolutely nobody cares about. We also bore witness to the advent of the upcoming planned communities for Disney adults in the Coachella Valley, the dreadfully awkward consent manufacturing on the Washington Post’s TikTok account, and the endless weed farms of the metaverse. To close out, we checked in on the musical world of the Canadian trucker convoy, including the vocal stylings of Jordan B. Peterson, just in time before our very own homegrown American chuds bring the party to Washington, DC.

I Left My Hog in San Francisco
Like the bat signal on the blackened skies of Gotham, feral hogs have descended upon the San Francisco Bay Area to herald the return of Hog Planet. On our triumphant return, we poured one out for the fallen hog lawyer Michael Avenatti, whose string of heinous crimes, including extorting Stormy Daniels and the Nike Corporation, among others, could land him in jail for decades. Next, Dan and Sam rampaged through the discursive streets of the Joe Rogan vaccine and n-word controversies. Our hosts’ credibility may never recover. Lastly, we handed the mic over to 4 AM fruit stand enjoyer and New York Mayor Eric Adams, who called us a certain wafery slur in return. There you have it, folks, this episode is a bona fide feral swine bomb. Stick around for an eyewitness Mayor Pete report before the hog credits roll.

Kind of Breu
Your beloved hogs return to cover a story that seems like we made it up: Alec Baldwin’s tragic misfire on the set of Rust, the senseless death of rising talent Halyna Hutchins, and the toxic work environment that let it happen. Who is to blame? Baldwin? Assistant Director Dave Halls? Or 24-year-old set armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed? We turn to the least reliable sources to see what they think, like costume-designer-turned-scab-apologist Terese Magpale Davis, Gutierrez-Reed’s deeply soulless defense attorneys, and, of course, Baldwin himself.
To lighten things up, we treat the fans to a tight 4 from a rising star in the vaguely anti-vax comedy world: Jim Breuer, age 54. In an attempt to plug his own podcast and upcoming comedy special, he recently took to Twitter to post 4 minutes of, er, jokes, which mainly consisted of anti-vax bird squawks, piss, shit, fart, and puke sounds, and other weird, bad, and loud noises. Underneath it all, there were apparently some contrarian Gen-Xer points made. Listen kid, the podcasting game ain’t for everyone.
Blessedly we only have one political hog to inflict on you this time around: Republican Delegate-elect Tim Anderson. But he might be too hot to handle! (crowd groans)

Seditious Hog-spiracy
And now, we deliver unto you a long overdue look into the infamous January 6 riot at the Capitol, a watershed moment for hog culture. We reflected on that day when the Trump chuds were so sure that the Democrats were seizing control of the US government that they decided to just go ahead and try to do it themselves. We also checked up on some of the people who have been arrested and even sentenced for their roles in this exceedingly dumb release of misplaced aggression. We wrapped it up with Sam’s eyewitness accounts of the Justice for January 6 protest on September 18, where maybe 300 people showed up to wave their flags, bicker with counter protesters, and get all weepy about how the criminal justice system is treating their comrades. Yeah, that’s right, I went through that so that you don’t have to. Just another day at the office for us at Hog Planet.
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like 9/11
The hogs commemorated the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by actually entering the same room and doing the only thing they know how to do: podcasting. We took a trip down memory lane to unload every thought we have on “the day the world stopped turning.” We also watch some choice clips from this year’s 9/11, including Trump hosting a pay-per-view boxing match and Rudy Giuliani being drunk. If you listen closely, you can hear Sam's dog barking at George W. Bush. That’s what 9/11’s all about, Charlie Brown!

The Twilight of the Cuomosexuals (ft. Josh K)
Josh K joins Dan to talk about his work with the NYC DSA EcoSocialist working group and about their new campaign. The two hogs get into the respective falls of liberal giants Andrew Cuomo and Bill Gates, god trying to punish Stephen Crowder, and deranged conservative advertising. You won't want to miss the San Diego police video about the definitely totally real dangers of fentanyl touching the skin, complete with shocking body cam video.

No Hog Is An Island (ft. Kevin Jun Ha and JR Murray)
Folks, the hogs are getting theoretical today. We had legit Marxists Kevin Jun Ha and JR Murray on to talk about how individualism as an ideology is fucking everything up these days and making it feel impossible to deal with the ongoing pandemic, climate change, and the growing threat of space billionaires. This sprawling overview touches on everything from Bezos to Frederick Jackson Turner and, mercifully, we only quoted Marx twice. Smash that play button if you’re trying to learn how to cast off your fetters and develop the capabilities of your species. The Hog Days of Summer
It’s a sweaty summer episode with the hogs as we talk boats, fireworks, summer camp, ice cream, and tragic masturbation. Dan and Sam apologize to at least 2 or 3 entire countries in this one.

Marxist Ideology and Racist Ideas
Dan and Sam hopped on the mics in the middle of the night to pod about pressing cultural issues such as the newly proposed Washington Football Team names, failed NYC mayoral candidate Dianne Morales' delirious tweets, Jair Bolsanaro's hiccups hospitalization, and Spike Lee's woke bitcoin ad. We also look back at one year since the George Floyd protests and the ongoing hysteria about critical race theory that has bled over into the high school we went to. We showed off some of Dan's artwork and the item of the season: Hog Planet lighters.

New Jack Ma City (ft. Andrew DiMola)
The hogs are back yet again, with guest hog Andrew (@Zhadn_) in tow. Dan has the latest from New York's majorly stupid mayoral race. We are pleased to announce that Andrew Yang lost but saddened to say that Eric Adams is probably going to win. Just as Mr. Adams lives in Fort Lee, New Jersey, not New York, New York, Dan undeservedly received a jury duty notice for his home state of New Jersey, despite living in New York. Truly, the system has failed. Watch out for the transition where we start talking about how the President of Haiti was assassinated today by Spanish speakers impersonating the DEA. Dan really beefs the transition on that one. He's trying, folks... As we continue to hold Dan accountable, we issue a few corrections from prior episodes. For more of Dan being wrong, be sure to follow him on Twitter so he can get to 420 followers. As of recording we (he) only need(s) 5 more... It could be you!
We also have a few cool videos of stuff blowing up. The thing is, they are both videos of bad things happening: one being the Los Angeles Police Department detonating "stolen" (we prefer to say "liberated") fireworks and taking out a city block in the process, and the other being the gaping hole of fire that opened up in the Gulf of Mexico. Yeah, yeah, both are pretty bad signs, but still, stuff blowing up is kinda cool. Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Football Team and person who may have hired Sam at one point (he would have regretted it) has been fined for toxic workplace culture. We dig deeper to dish on how Dan Snyder is now cucked as his wife takes over operations of the racial slur football team. Andrew is the internet guy. He loves computers. He shares his thoughts on why OKCupid is a trash website, and why Alibaba is an insane platform hard for those of us in this tiny, dusty country to understand the scale of. We also delve into the recent disappearance of Alibaba founder Jack Ma from the public eye in China, and how he rocked out on guitar once.
Speaking of scale and continuing with abrupt transitions, we revisit the largest mass shooting in US history and how we still don't know anything substantive about Stephen Paddock or his motives. Unless one of those guys with ideas about his involvement with the Saudis is on to something...
To close out, Dan is forced to evaluate and understand Waluigi, including what his moveset would be in Super Smash Bros., and we share a few anecdotes about the many voices of the Mario Extended Universe.

No Wake Zone
Dan and Sam reconvene to cover some hog news updates, including the disastrous Trumptilla on Lake Travis, the funniest revelation from Michael Cohen’s new tell-all, and the recently unsealed indictment of fan favorite Steve Bannon. We also try to pin down why Facebook seems so dire these days and how it changed from its unserious origins to its current chaotic state. We think you’ll like this one. It’s the perfect soundtrack to clinging for life as your 8-foot dinghy named Second Mortgage gets swamped by a 70-foot yacht decked out with Trump flags.
Nights at the Quarancinema 6: Into The Wild Hogs (ft. Luke Van Brandenburg)
Nights at the Quarancinema 5: Die Hard Tryhards (ft. Matt Greenberg)
This week, we discussed the original Die Hard (1988), a true classic of the action genre, and how it subtly handles topics such as police bureaucracy, corporate greed, and the US-Japan trade relationship. Joining us for this one is a true Die Hard expert, returning champion Matt Greenberg of the Copilots podcast (@WeAreCoPilots). We try to answer the tough questions, like “is this copaganda?” “Is John McClane a cowboy or a samurai?” “Is there a difference?” Matt also helps us understand where the franchise went after knocking it out of the park the first time around. You won’t want to miss this on - after all, nothing says “quarantine” like a film whose entire hostage-driven plot could have been avoided with a simple Zoom Christmas party.

One of our real-life heroes, our deeply powerful high school English teacher Mr. Zelcer, joins us to discuss being an educator in the Covid times and the daunting task of preparing today’s youth for the future. In the post-game segment over on the Hog Planet Patreon, we discuss the continued devaluation of a liberal arts education and what it may portend for the future of imagination and our very souls. We also briefly sing George Saunders’ praises. Be sure to check out all of Mr. Zelcer’s excellent creative output, which we mention on the show and link to below.

Tin Foil Hogs: Epstein on Netflix/Ghislaine in Jail (ft. Barto @elbartoarmy)
This week the hogs have Barto (@elbartoarmy) on to discuss Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, Netflix’s account of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s international criminal enterprise. The documentary benefits from in-depth interviews with survivors including Sarah Ransome, Virginia Giuffre, and Maria Farmer, as well as an illuminating, albeit brief look at the latter’s artistic depiction of her ordeal. But it suffers from some glaring omissions and collaboration with author and Clinton associate James Patterson as well as Sam’s nemesis Alan Dershowitz. We unpacked what the series had to offer and mused about the damage conspiratorial thinking can do to mass movements. Speaking of which, please be sure to support Barto’s work by checking out Food Not Bombs Wilmington on Facebook (facebook.com/FNBWilmington/), Twitter (@fnbwilmington) and Instagram (instagram.com/fnbwilm/) and throwing some skrilla at them on Cashapp ($fnbwilmington).

Jon Stewart: The Most Rusted Man in America (ft. Luke Savage)
Since former Daily Show host Jon Stewart was recently on a press tour promoting Irresistible, his mid-2000s time capsule of a feature film, it’s the perfect time to evaluate his cultural impact. To help us flesh this out, we chatted with Luke Savage (@lukewsavage), a true gentleman and scholar of mid-2000s liberal media. We discussed Stewart’s strengths and weaknesses, why he seems utterly despondent in the Trump years, and how empty his political ideology is, to the extent that it even exists. Subscribe at patreon.com/hogplanet to gain access to the post-game where we discussed the highly anti-climactic 2016 Democratic Primary and why the Bernie Sanders campaign was not a complete failure. This week we had Gaby Kubi (@gabynotchatty on Twitter, @sugarkubi on Instagram) on to discuss her organizing with #DoBetterCornell (@dobettercornell and dobettercornell.com). We talked about the movement, its goals and the administration’s reaction. We also poked holes in some of the common myths in the discourse and concern trolling about campus activism, its methods and its perceived impermanence. Hogs in The Valley: Anti-Racism in Bergen County (ft. Sarah Evelyn of @valley.for.change)
Dan and Sam get really local on this one and explore a controversy that recently rocked the Board of Education with jurisdiction over where we went to high school. We talked with Sarah Evelyn of Valley for Change, a newly formed anti-racist organization in the Northern Valley region of Bergen County, New Jersey. She gave us a crucial background on the organization’s successful push to advocate for the removal of Dan Eller, a former member of the Board of Education, after photos surfaced of him wearing blackface while he was in high school. Yes, the same high school that Dan and Sam went to! Sarah helps recap the blockbuster 7-hour Board of Education meeting where Eller’s defenders and racial justice advocates made their cases until about 3:30 AM. We also got the details on what’s next for Valley for Change and antiracist efforts in the area. Afterwards Dan and Sam discuss Alan Dershowitz soiling the good name of Lucy Vincent Beach, and the latest prominent Trump supporters getting COVID-19.

Check out JR's work at Cosmonaut Magazine (@CosmonautMag), Here’s an abridged version of the Cosmonaut mission statement:
Direct action after direct action, dedicated leftists put their bodies on the line without anything resembling a convincing vision of a better world. This is no one individual’s failure, but an inevitable result of the collapse of working-class power and socialist politics in the late 20th century. Communism—the vision of humanity emancipated from class society—is generally disregarded as a fantasy, or even as undesirable in principle. At best it is the silent God of a negative theology, a desperate mantra of abstract negation with no plausible hope to be found in the existing tendencies of capitalist society. Consigned by post-structuralism and marginalist economics to an obsolete micro-niche in humanities departments, academic marxism—even on the rare occasion it can genuinely help us understand the world—is as detached from the goal of classless society on paper as it is in reality. A leftist politics this disoriented is about as likely to achieve basic democratic reforms as it is to implement a world socialist republic.
It is necessary for Marxists of all backgrounds and skills to develop intellectual institutions independent of academia, wherein communists can develop their vision, strategy, and overall critique of capitalist society. Cosmonaut aims to be one of (what should be) many different platforms of debate, where scientific socialists can develop an analysis of history, critique the prevailing ideological “common sense” of our time, and conceive a programmatic communist politics relevant to our circumstance.
We seek to develop a Marxism for the 21st century which will be based on a scientific inquiry of history and present conditions through a process of collective discussion and debate, not dogma based on fidelity to what this or that Great Man said so many years ago. Our organizing principles are internationalism over all standing armies and borders; building class-independent, democratic institutions; and a vision of a future where the world is a classless community of humanity, finally free of exploitation and oppression—communism.

RE-RELEASE: Gadsby x Soloway Revisited (ft. Rachey)
We also do not fault anyone who connected with Gadsby’s work on a personal level, and our criticisms of the special should not be interpreted as any kind of attack on anyone on that level. Art, especially when it is released on Netflix, is created for public consumption, and it should inspire constructive intellectual discussion and debate, which is why we chose to cover it. But we do not want any of our critiques to be taken as an attack against or rejection of the ongoing struggle for equity and fairness with regards to women, victims of sexual assault and the LGBTQ community. We proudly support the following organizations doing crucial work to advance the cause of equity for marginalized people, and we want to shout them out and encourage donations here:

Episode 72- Nights At The Quarancinema 3: The LoveHogs (ft. Rachey)
We recorded this episode prior to the ACAB Spring and ongoing demonstrations, so hopefully this isn’t too disappointing and you can enjoy a nice respite from wall-to-wall uprising coverage.

Episode 69- Nights At The Quarancinema 2: Children of Hog Men (ft. Andrew DiMola)
This week we have egg cinematography expert Andrew DiMola (@zhadn_) on to discuss Alfonso Cuaron’s legendary near-future dystopia Children of Men (2006). On the day that Sen. Bernie Sanders suspended his presidential campaign, we fittingly discussed the movie’s main themes: a world without hope, the courage faith demands, and immigration. Our rewatch of Children of Men during the nearly-worldwide quarantine 7 years prior to the events of the film left us with plenty to talk about. This episode is double-stuffed, but we recommend listening to the end for Andrew’s notes about what he remembered about the film after not having watched it for ten years.
Episode 68- Nights At The Quarancinema 1: Gay 24's Midsommar & The Lighthouse (ft. Darian Lusk)
medium.com/@sam_louis/fc4124f15dac
We’re becoming “film Twitter” guys from now through at least the next 3ish episodes. Here to ease us into the world of cinema criticism is the unparalleled Darian Lusk (@eatpraylusk). We take you back to the yesteryear of 2019 and the world of A24 films with two of its top horror flicks, Ari Aster’s Midsommar and Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse. We’re unpacking the gay and queer elements in these films, their auteurist “film Twitter guy” appeal, and making the case for these cinema geek movies as the Covid-19 economy squeezes theaters, allowing garbage like Dolittle (2020) to lead the box office yield for this already apocalyptic year. The first in a number of film-focused episodes, this one is a great way to get through an hour and a half of your quarantine. At the very least, you won’t want to miss Darian’s list of the top 5 gay and queer icons of Midsommar.

Episode 62- The Elizabeth Warren Commission (Part 1)
When someone tells you who they are, believe them. Unless they’re one Senator Elizabeth Warren. Folks, we usually #trustwomen on Hog Planet, but in this 2-part episode, we’re going to catalog the bizarre lies, half-truths, and exaggerations that the Senator from Massachusetts has told in her legal, academic, and political career. It’s a long and suspenseful journey from her upbringing in Norman, Oklahoma to her present day shenanigans and ongoing attempts to kneecap Bernie Sanders, her former ally and fellow primary contender. We’ll find out which TV Western hunk inspired her to leave her humble prairie home and find out just how little your household needs to pull in annually to qualify for her means-tested Medicare for “all” program. Plagiarizing so-called Native American recipes? She’s got a plan for that. Strap in and see just how weird Warren can get.
Episode 61- Cats (2019) is Why The Terrorists Hate Us (ft. Rachey)
medium.com/@sam_louis/we-are-the-hogs-watching-cats-47df93bfbf58
Hogheads, for you we have prepared an episode with about as loose a structure as its subject, the Cats movie. We all forced ourselves through two hours of “digital fur technology,” cat bulges, and the stomach-churning James Corden to bring you tales from the sparsely-attended theaters where this film burned itself into our corneas. We discuss how the film made us feel like hogs, why it explains anti-American terrorism, and the unparalleled speed of its jump from theatrical release to ironic cult classic. We answer the hard questions, like what is the best way to dissociate mid-viewing? Which actors deserved to be stuck playing cats (looking at you, Rebel Wilson) in Cats? And is it worse than Loqueesha? (trick question - both should be erased from history) Tune in and keep it Jellicle.
