I Have Things to Say
By Teri Hebert
I don't have all the answers. But I do have things to say. Witty, insightful, wise, thoughtful, unique, probably awkward but potentially brilliant things said by a 40-something career introvert.
No politics. No controversy. Just things.

The Problem With “Hustle”
Today we talk about “Hustle” vs. “Slow.” I have a hard time with the word “Hustle”
It’s a label we seem to strive for—especially in the entrepreneur world.
It’s not a bad word! But it’s a word or a way of life we put on a pedestal—then we deal with massive guilt if we find ourselves in a moment lacking hustle.
Is it okay to slow down? What are the benefits of slowing down? Am I failing “the” hustle if I’m not hustling to the world’s expectations? Listen to find out.

Make Good Choices
This episode is inspired by watching “Botched Up Bodies” and “Surviving R. Kelly” and what weighs heavy on my heart as a result.
We too often make bad choices.
I’m talking about just doing really dumb—or blatantly wrong—with a justification or rationalization that we feel makes it right....despite the horrible or hurtful outcomes.
I’m also talking abut looking the other way when we shouldn’t. Or not speaking up when it’s the right thing to do. Or going with what’s popular when we know it’s wrong. Or focusing on an imperfection that isn’t where our focus should be—then making a series of bad decisions to fix something that doesn’t need to be fixed.
We risk so much when we make bad choices. Find out why I think shows like “Botched Up Bodies” and “Surviving R. Kelly” are situations born from our tendency to make bad choices.

The Recipe for Feeling Un-Loved
This episode is strategically placed AFTER Valentine’s Day. It’s a day when you either feel exceptionally loved—or tragically UN-loved.
Did you know? “Feeling” unloved doesn’t mean you “are” unloved. Today we’ll talk about the recipe of behavior that can lead to us feeling unloved—and how we can change the recipe for a better outcome.
This episode isn’t just for anyone who felt unloved on Valentine’s Day. It’s for anyone who struggles with feeling like no one loves you on a regular, non-made-up holiday day.

Speak Up!
Today’s episode is inspired again in part by ShineText.com and of course, my own thoughts and feelings.
Are you ever afraid to say what you think and feel? Today we talk about how you deserve to be heard. But so often, we let our fear of how others will interpret what we say keep us from saying anything at all.
Speak up! You are worthy. But first, listening to me talk about talking.

Busting Buzzwords—I’m Not Toxic, You Are
Today we celebrate our 20th Episode and surpassing 1,000 listens!!! Hooray!
We also add another installment of Busting Buzzwords. We’ll talk about an all-too-common label for people we don’t want in our lives these days: Toxic
Is it accurate? WHEN is it accurate? If I say it first, does it mean you are toxic and I’m not?? We’ll explore what being toxic “isn’t” and why we need to be careful tossing that label on anyone we feel isn’t up to our standards.

If You Can’t Do a Lot—Do a Little
Overwhelmed? Overcommitted? Over-stressed? Over...EVERYTHING!?! Today’s episode is for you.
When we have too much on our plate, we sometimes don’t get anything done. It creates anxiety. When we don’t get anything done, we feel like we let ourselves and others down.
Teri shares how overwhelmed she is TODAY. Sometimes it’s short-term circumstances. Other times, it’s a lifestyle we choose for ourselves. Teri talks about doing at least a little if we can’t do it ALL...and why that’s okay.

The “Skinny Girl” Talks Body Image
I grew up a “skinny” girl. But guess what? Skinny girls have body image issues too. And I’m not “skinny” anymore.
Today we look at our expectations for our bodies as we age, and how we use that to justify our self worth. We’ll also hear a reminder that you are YOU—no matter your size and how you change over time.
Teri leaves us with some recommendations of how to reframe our body insecurities into a healthier mindset. Yes, eat pizza if it brings you joy.

New Year Resolutions are Dumb
I hate New Years resolutions. But that’s not the same as living life without purpose or goals and plans. In this episode, I’ll talk about why I think New Years resolutions are dumb.
I’ll also talk about a different approach to making and keeping goals (this coming from a TERRIBLE goal-maker). And we’ll look at why giving ourselves grace while making and pursuing goals is vital.
Thanks to Keith Kochner for some of the inspiration here. Find him at keithkochner.com or mentorfish.com.

Feel Your Feels
Today we talk about our feelings. No really. Do you feel your feelings? Do you feel bad about how you feel? Do you struggle feeling like it’s okay to ask for help when you’re struggling?
I’m a life-long guilt-sufferer. I even feel bad about how I feel sometimes. Let’s talk about what that means and how we can feel our feels instead of faking “better” feelings or staying stuck when we’re low.
Shout out again to Daily Shine and Sheila Walsh’s words for helping me gather my thoughts on this one!

Today we have another installment of our “Busting Buzzwords” series. We tackle the phrase “Being Present”. What does it mean? What SHOULD it mean? How do we misuse it in our lives? How can we make it work as intended? I might not have the answers. But I do have things to say about it.
