I Love Story Time

I Love Story Time

By Gahmya Drummond Bey

This podcast is more than just story time. It’s a time to share, to think big, and to believe in magic.
My challenge for the parent is not to limit the child’s ability. If a concept is “new” start with the book chat, then go to the story, then the book chat again. You’ll be amazed to hear your five year
old begin to teach you about mindfulness, self love, and diversity. You’ll then notice that your child is interested in writing or feeling more confident to share their big ideas with others.
This is the magic of learning.

Ep 014 Bailey as the Self Love

Bailey as the Self Love Princess written by 8 year old Bailey Love Jones, reads like a beautiful mantra for young girls. I recommend having the child make her own paper crown 👑 and designing it before wearing it and reciting the lines from the book aloud!! She could also add her own phrases of power, write them on cards or post-its and place them on her mirror to recite daily. Ep 013 poem- Hey Black Child

Ep 013 poem- Hey Black Child

“Hey Black Child” by Useni Eugene Perkins, is not only a beautiful poem for young black kids, but it also serves as a powerful mantra. Have the Child repeat after this poem in a big voice! Have them recite it in the mirror! Have them recite it while dancing. The end of the poem states: “And Tomorrow Your Nation Will Be What You Want it to Be.” A great activity would be to have the child draw or discuss what the world would look like if he or she were king or queen of the world. What would schools look like? What would kids learn? Would there be homelessness? How would we help people, so they wouldn’t be homeless? What types of food would people eat? Part 2: “What are some things that you must learn right now to be a great king or queen of the world? 🌎 What types of books should we get for you?” Show lots of excitement and eagerness to support them. Enjoy! Read by Gahmya DrummondBey of Thekidyou and Evolved Teacher 👩\ud83c\udff
