38. Leadership Possibilities: Become a leader with the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
Learn about the roles needed for the upcoming election! Ann Parker is the Nominating Committee Chair and she will explain what each position involves. Ann has been involved with the Iowa Academy for many years and has gained great leadership skills. Ann currently works as an Educational Program Consultant and Training Coordinator for the Child and Adult Care Food Program at the Iowa Department of Education. She provides training for childcare providers and centers that participate in CACFP on topics such as meal patterns and infant feeding, She has previously worked for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and WIC. She earned a Master of Health Science from Western Carolina University and a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Minor in Psychology from Iowa State University. She lives with her family in Altoona, Iowa.

36. Diversity in Dietetics Sneak Peek into Annual Conference
Tonya Huenink RDN, LD is the registered dietitian and diabetes education program coordinator at Sioux Center Health in northwest Iowa. Tonya received her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics at Iowa State University and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is currently working toward becoming a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist as well as obtaining additional training in eating disorder treatment, which is a great need in the rural area she works in. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, biking, playing board games with her husband and three kids, and working on new designs for the family’s laser-engraving shop. This year, she is serving as the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Meeting Chair so much of her free time is going toward planning an amazing return to an in-person annual meeting this November!

35. Food Insecurity Reality in Iowa: Monthly Educational Topic
Katie Sorrell is a Registered Dietitian with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach,
overseeing food pantry coaching and a donation gardening program as the Policy, Systems and Environmental Change Coordinator. Katie has two decades of experience with SNAP-Ed funding at ISU, Iowa Department of Public Health and University of California, San Diego.

Meet Christyna Johnson. She is a weight inclusive registered dietitian who works with disordered eating, eating disorders, and intuitive eating. She practices from a Health at Every Size®, social justice, trauma-informed and person -centered approach. Alison and Christyna talk about some tough issues related to social injustice and how the narrow view of "healthy eating" excludes many in the BIPOC community.
