Most of our food is sourced outside (imported) and we spend a ton on these said imports yet the same funding could be used to invest in our own farm lands and save us some buck while we're at it.

Different pond, different solutions, we cant keep looking to the west and how the solve their problems and apply the same tactics here. we are our own and we need to start seeing ourselves as such..Then it'll be easier to find the roots of our problems and get to the solutions much faster.
