I Watch TV A Lot

It's #EmmySeason. The year's biggest and brightest around the television industry are recognized and of course we all have feelings about who's nominated and not nominated. This year presents an interesting mix of nominees, some surprises and "snubs", but overall there are many categories with multiple favorites.

'Grey's Anatomy' is renewed making it one of the longest running network dramas, but are we surprised? The CW renews the majority of its lineup including one of my favorites, 'Jane The Virgin'. BET and Netflix does some canceling and it's almost time for summer TV! Are you ready?

“Scandal” has officially ended. There are spoilers here, but this is mainly a short tribute and goodbye to one of the most influential network TV shows in the last decade. Shonda Rhimes' "Scandal" became part of a legendary primetime lineup so ingrained in American culture, TGIF was essentially replaced by TGIT with "Scandal" at the center.

ABC’s new show, For The People, was created by Paul William Davies. Davies is no stranger to ensemble casts portraying drama as he's a "Scandal" writing alum. The show follows a group of young lawyers from both sides of the court as they try major cases and try to have lives.

The 90th annual Academy Awards happened, but nothing really happened. Some highlights include Mary J. Blige's performance, Jordan Peele's win for original screenplay, and the ending. There were not many surprises and the entire night outside of Peele's win followed the status quo.

This is a review of ‘Seven Seconds’, a Netflix drama starring Clare-Hope Ashitey, Regina King, and Beau Knapp. It's a stirring drama about another type of police brutality which doesn't include a gun. There are no spoilers, only light commentary on the shows content and acting.

The X-Files, Full(er) House, One Day At A Time, Roseanne, Gilmore Girls...

The list of television show reboots could go on forever, but should it? Networks are scrambling to bring back many shows we didn’t ask for and it’s scary. Who asked for this?

Big TV news: Meryl Streep is coming to season 2 of Big Little Lies! I also say “Meryl Streep” at least 17 times in a span of 3 minutes.

Reality TV is here obviously here to stay, so relax television purists. Embrace it. My first recommendation? Lifetime’s ‘Married At First Sight’. It's a perfectly messy show with real life people making a real life decision to marry a complete stranger. It's a wild concept, however, it grasps exactly what reality TV was made to be.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards happened the same night the now Super Bowl champions, Philadelphia Eagles, were playing in the NFC championship game. As a Philadelphian, you know exactly what was I was doing. There was no live tweeting or watching the SAGs, but that doesn't stop me from chatting about the winners and losers for the 24th annual Screen Actors Guild awards.
