The Wild Mind with Jad Steel, A University Podcast

Today we have Issy Brown, a third year food and nutrition student at Bath Spa. As somebody who suffers from OCD, she talked in great detail about how it affects her University life. As someone who has struggled with this at times in my own life, this was a great conversation, and something I initially wasn't comfortable with discussing. Today we have Charlie Penfold, a third year business student at Bath Spa. This was a special episode, recorded it just a few hours after I actually met Charlie for the first time. We had a great chat about tackling loneliness at University, what it's like to go on a placement year, and the importance of music. Today we have two guests, Rose Baker and Ricardo Graca, both third year web technology students at Bath Spa. We talked about what it was like for Ricardo to move from Portugal and study in the UK. Both were incredibly open about their bisexuality and how their experiences differ from a male and female perspective. We talked about creating a healthy balance between a job and university, and how that can impact your mental health. Today's guest is Lloyd Mitchell, a third year Commercial Music student at Bath Spa. We talked about his experience with his course not meeting his initial expectations, we talked about what he really thinks of the label 'artist', Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People, and we touched on the impact on your friendship group at home after going to University. Not only does he have loads of interesting and thoughtful points, but he has an incredibly relaxing voice that really juxtaposes my stuttering mess. Today's guest is Hanna Glover, a third year creative writing/publishing student at Bath Spa! Today we talked about the strange pressure around taking out a gap year, the impact of moving around the world multiple times, culture clashes and how she got a published book at the age of 21. She was incredibly humble, and we had a great chat about learning humility through experience and navigating the waters of friendship at University. Also joining us today was Sam Strong, a third year Creative Writing student and good friend of Hanna. We got deep into terrible first impressions, Sam thinking I was a dick, and much, much more.
