Editor's Block: What it is and what it's trying to tell you.

Editor's Block: What it is and what it's trying to tell you.

In this episode, we return to our series on different types of writer's block. Today, I discuss the type of writer's block I've named "editor's block." Like procrastination, writer's block is usually trying to tell you something. Understanding where your writer's block is coming from can help you figure out how to work with it and get you unblocked.

I hope you enjoy this episode and our series on working with writer's block more generally. If you do, then perhaps you'd consider providing some support by buying me a coffee? https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Wtfphd

It costs about $28 to produce each episode of the WTF: PhD podcast and your support is greatly appreciated!

Writer's Block Rooted in Overwhelm

Writer's Block Rooted in Overwhelm

One of the biggest issues I work with my clients on is writer's block and just as there are many different causes of procrastination they are many different causes of writer's block. In this episode, I tackle the most common cause in my clients. Most of my clients come to me wanting help with time management but when we dig deeper I find that they are experts at managing their time but not at managing their tasks. Good task management is particularly difficult for people writing a thesis because of the scale of the project but good task management is also one of the quickest ways to resolve writer's block.

If this podcast helped you overcome your writer's block would you consider buying me a coffee? You can do so here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/Wtfphd

Buying a coffee helps ensure that I can continue the writer's block series for you, keep this series ad-free, and bring the highest quality dissertation coaching to as many people as possible.

Credibility in the Classroom: A Primer

Credibility in the Classroom: A Primer

I nearly drove myself crazy trying to decide what topic to cover for the inaugural episode of the WTF: PhD podcast. Should I discuss my system for busting writer's block or go over the myths of coursework? What is the thing that most grad student NEED to know?

With fall semester starting in-person, online, and in hybrid models across the country this week it seemed like the perfect time to cover the issue of teaching. Specifically, how do you feel like an expert in front of a classroom when you may be fighting imposter's syndrome, a university that was not built for people that look like you, or you were an undergrad yourself eight weeks ago?

I hope you enjoy our first episode and find it useful. If you find something of value here would you consider buying me a coffee? https://buymeacoffee.com/Wtfphd
