#45 No Iceberg Lettuce for You!
I was recently challenged to not look at life as if seasons of it are just crappy iceberg lettuce salads with unripe, sandy tomatoes.
You'll see what I mean.
A Prayer That's Helping Me
I was praying and praying about a problem but kept FEELING hopeless about it.
Something had to change.

Let's talk about spiritual warfare for a minute.

#37 What is a Courageous Woman, Anyway?
Dannah Gresh kept dropping truth bombs about COURAGE and it was too explosive with awesomeness to cut any shorter.
Once again, this interview is a hefty mix of laughter and solid Truth from God's Word.

Snippet - Praying for Your Husband
Raise your hand if you're guilty of wanting to be the Holy Spirit in your husband's life... (I see those hands!)
This is a sidebar conversation I had with Carrie Porter about this very thing.
Like Kenny Rogers so eloquently pointed out in his song, The Gambler:
"You got to know when to hold 'em.
Know when to fold 'em..."

#34 How To Intercede in Prayer
Carrie Porter. I've known her since she was "knee high to a grasshopper" - well, at least since she was in high school. At different points I've had a front-row seat to her growth in the powerful gift of intercessory prayer.
After this podcast, you will feel inspired anew to approach the throne of grace with confidence to receive mercy and grace in your time of need.

#33 A Woman of Resolve
Laura Yocum. If you don't know her, that's a bummer. But maybe you know someone like her?
A woman who puts the stake of God's Truth in the ground and doesn't have any intention of wavering from it.
#32 "Happily Ever After" redefined
Aubrey's voice is like butter. You'll want to listen to this episode a thousand times just to hear her say all of the words.
I'm not joking.
A little teaching on our jacked-up definition of what "happily ever after" is and then a little interview with Aubrey Brush - a single woman full of the Spirit and full of intelligent conversation surrounding contentment and joy.
She works at True Girl.
#31 Spring must come!
Just a short message and a powerful prayer as we enter into the new podcast series.
I also mention some of the guests I'll be having on the show in the coming weeks.
Ignite.
Motivate.
Activate.
New Series! (in a Scottish brogue)
Not to brag, but I have a Scottish friend. Her name is Nicola and she's helping me introduce this new podcast series.
"Arise, my darling.
Come away, my beautiful one.
For now the winter is past;
the rain has ended and gone away.
The blossoms appear in the countryside.
The time of singing has come,
and the turtledove’s cooing is heard in our land.
The fig tree ripens its figs;
the blossoming vines give off their fragrance.
Arise, my darling.
Come away, my beautiful one."
Song of Solomon 2:11-13
#30 What's Obedience Got To Do With It?
#29 Dreading Mother's Day? (Or know someone who is?)
I see you, friend who is dreading Mother's Day. Here are 3 three things that are helping me. Maybe they'll help you, too.
Mother's Day isn't all candy and flowers for everyone. It's a really complicated holiday for a lot of men and women. This year's been especially hard for me. Lots of tears. Lots of grief. Lots of...nameless wild emotions.

#20: 4 Things I Do To Stay Focused in Prayer
To kick off 2021, here's a tiny little episode packed with four really practical things I actually do to keep my mind from wandering during times of prayer. As Troy Bolton famously sang, "You gotta keep your head in the game."

Ep. 18: The Weary World Rejoices...in Simplicity
Emily Burns of Living for Simple is in the HOUSE! Well, actually, I was in HER house and we had a blast talking about what Simplicity really means to her. How is it different from Minimalism? Can you live more simply even if you have three young children? Does living for simple only apply to possessions? SO many good questions!
As Emily sat in her intermittently creaky wooden chair by her simply decorated Christmas tree, peace and joy just flowed from her lips with the greatest of ease. You will love her.
See gorgeous posts and photos of Emily's simplified life on Instagram.

Ep. 13: My Current Favorite Acronym
Back in the day, we'd sign our notes to friends with acronyms like LYLAS (Love You Like a Sister), AFA (A Friend Always) or AFF (A Friend Forever). I'll probably never forget what those letters stand for. Sometimes acronyms are great ways to remember scripture, too.
Today I'm sharing the 4 letters that keep runnin' on repeat in my mind these days.
I also share one of my Trick or Treat Candy hacks. It's a little mean but completely satisfying.

Ep. 11: Book Excerpt - "The Well"
If you're looking for the real, raw rumination of a woman pressing into healing only the Lord can give, you are in the right spot. A woman of God I know (who chooses to remain anonymous) wrote this allegorical piece as she processed some of her own wounding and the insecurity it produced.
This is an excerpt from my book Arrows Make Terrible Crowns, which is about to drop in the next month or so.

Ep. 2: Guilt and Gauges
We need to listen to others who are a few steps ahead of us in life so we can learn how to navigate our current season. My Jesus-loving sister-in-law, Lisa Harding, sat down with me at Thanksgiving in 2019 and shared some great perspectives for all moms about "mom guilt." She blew my MIND with "The Three Gauges." Even if you skip forward and just listen to that part, you'll be better for it. (You can find it at about 7 minutes 37 seconds.) Something you should know is Lisa is a legit doctor. That means lots of things but what it means for MY family is she is on-call for every single family gathering we have because someone ALWAYS gets injured. ALWAYS.
