At the time of recording, it had been 623 days since Sri Lanka's Women's Team had played international cricket. Estelle Vasudevan joins Jay to discuss the SLC's apathy toward women's cricket since the highs of the 2013 World Cup campaign where they defeated England and thrashed India.

Estelle also discusses the pathways to the national team and the domestic setup before previewing Sri Lanka's chances at the upcoming World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.

Malaysian Cricket with Winifred Duraisingam & Virandeep Singh

Malaysian Cricket with Winifred Duraisingam & Virandeep Singh

As per the latest ICC census, more than 50,000 Malaysians played some form of cricket organized by the Malaysian Cricket Association in 2019. For this episode, I'm joined by Malaysian Women's skipper Winifred Duraisingam and Men's team batter Virandeep Singh.

Wini will be leading Malaysia at the upcoming T20 World Cup Qualifier in Dubai, which I, Jay Dansinghani, will be commentating on! The winner of that tournament — which also features hosts UAE, Hong Kong, Nepal, Kuwait and Bhutan — will advance to next year's Global Qualifier for the 2023 T20 World Cup.

Virandeep Singh, on the other hand, is widely regarded as Malaysia's best batter, who shot to prominence during the Nepal Tri-Series in April that also featured the Netherlands.

Viran and Wini talk to us about their cricketing journeys and more!

Indians in The Hundred - with Radha Lath Gupta

Indians in The Hundred - with Radha Lath Gupta

Matchday attendance in the women’s competition of The Hundred has often approached or exceeded 10,000. Make no mistake: the competition has been a game-changer for women’s cricket in England, coming on the back of 41 domestic retainer contracts being handed out last year.

In this episode, we're joined by our first-ever recurring guest, Radha Lath Gupta, to discuss the impact of the Hundred on English women’s cricket and the performance of the five Indian players taking part in it.....And no, we could not resist a rant about why there is still no Women’s IPL!

Issy Wong on Bowling Quick and Going Pro

Issy Wong on Bowling Quick and Going Pro

For episode 8, we’re joined by Warwickshire, Central Sparks, and Birmingham Phoenix fast bowler Issy Wong. 19-year-old Wong has already been clocked at over 70 miles an hour, and she has expressed her desire to become the world’s fastest female bowler. But there’s so much more to Issy’s story than just being that girl who wants to hit 80 clicks.

Issy walks us through her Hong Kong roots and her early development as a cricketer, before discussing how professionalization has already had a big impact on her career. We also talk about her approach to fast bowling, her plans for The Hundred, and her England ambitions.

What's going on with Sri Lankan Cricket? - with Fidel Fernando

What's going on with Sri Lankan Cricket? - with Fidel Fernando

From biosecure bubbles bursting to the SLC board and players being locked in a standoff over contracts, the last few weeks have, once again, been rather chaotic for Sri Lankan cricket.

ESPN Cricinfo’s Fidel Fernando joins Jay Dansinghani to examine the issues with how cricket is run in the island nation and how this spills over into on-field performance. We also discuss the prospects of the men’s team in the ongoing Super League and their chances at the T20 World Cup before we end with a takedown of the SLC’s apathy towards the women’s game.

Roberta Moretti Avery on Brazil's Women going Pro

Roberta Moretti Avery on Brazil's Women going Pro

In January 2020, Cricket Brasil announced it was awarding 14 central contracts for its women’s national team. It was the first instance of a cricket board awarding full-time contracts to its female athletes ahead of its men's team.

Roberta joins Jay Dansinghani to talk about what life was like before cricket was professionalized in Brazil and what things are like now. She also talks about Cricket Brasil's initiatives to grow the game at the grassroots and age-group levels, players to watch out for, and how surviving thyroid cancer made her both a better athlete and a better human being.

For this episode, we are joined by Karunya Keshav, co-author of The Fire Burns Blue: A History of Women's Cricket in India. Few journalists have covered women's cricket in India as thoroughly as Karunya has, so she's the best person to discuss things like:

* Why we still don't have a Women's IPL and why it would be a game-changer for female cricketers in India

* The pathways to the national team, including age-group and domestic cricket

* The social and financial challenges faced by female cricketers in India

West Indies Men's Cricket: Turning a Corner off the Field, Tempered Optimism on the Field w/ Machel St Patrick Hewitt

West Indies Men's Cricket: Turning a Corner off the Field, Tempered Optimism on the Field w/ Machel St Patrick Hewitt

For many years, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and its men’s players were at odds with each other. The WICB labelled the likes of Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Chris Gayle as mercenaries, and blackballed them from wearing the maroon. Unsurprisingly, the West Indies’ on-field fortunes suffered. They only just scraped through to the Men’s 2019 World Cup, where they could only win two out of nine games.

Amongst all this chaos, however, they lifted the World T20 trophy in 2016. They’ve also turned a corner in the last few years, with Ricky Skerritt — who has mended bridges with the T20 globetrotters —being appointed as the President of the WICB.

For Episode 2 of the All Over Cricket Podcast, I’m joined by Machel St Patrick Hewitt, Co-founder, and Host of the Caribbean Cricket Podcast. We discuss the systemic issues that have plagued cricket in the Caribbean, hope for the future, as well as the West Indies’ recent performances and prospects across the three formats.

Rajan Shah on the Challenges for Cricket in Nepal & Tri-series Preview

Rajan Shah on the Challenges for Cricket in Nepal & Tri-series Preview

Nepal is the most widely supported cricketing nation among Associate members. Whether it’s a parade at Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome back the national team or the TU ground being packed to the rafters, iconic images of Nepal's passionate fan base have come to represent the hope that cricket will one day expand outside of its traditional strongholds.

Despite this mainstream appeal, over the years, Nepali cricket has been plagued by systemic issues that have affected results on the field.

Freelance writer and journalist, Rajan Shah is widely considered the go-to source for all things Nepal Cricket. He joins us to dive deeper into why Nepal hasn't been more successful on the field, offering some solutions to go with it.

We also discuss the upcoming tri-series between Nepal, Malaysia, and the Netherlands set to get underway on Saturday 17th April.
