The Big Kitty, Paris International Film Festival Q&A
MOINSIt was one of the picks of this yearâs virtual Paris International Film Festival 2021 â and THE BIG KITTY is going South, but in a good way, as it heads to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.  Several years in the making and with the level of affection and passion that only a true independent film-making team can embellish, THE BIG KITTY is an affectionate parody of 1940s cinema with the humour and visual stimulus of some of those classic John Huston / Humphrey Bogart legends like CASABLANCA and THE MALTESE FALCON.  An award-winner at Paris International Film Festival 2021, the filmâs journey continues and evolves with the selection for Cannes.  Reflecting on the selection, film-makers Lisa Barmby and Tom Alberts had this to say:  âItâs maybe a once in a lifetime thing for film makers to be selected for Cannes. OK, but if these film-makers are artists with no film training and itâs their first film and itâs completely independent and they just did it themselvesâŠwell thatâs mind-blowing.  It started as the question- âCan we make a film?â â and ended 12 years later with THE BIG KITTY.  Weâre very proud of making it with all the talented artists of Melbourne and very thrilled to be selected for Cannes CinĂ©philes â Festival de Cannes. We are over the moon.  The Paris International Film Festival is simply the Best!  We recommend it to film-makers and audiences! The Director, Jenna Suru, is the most extraordinary, enthusiastic and hard-working person weâve met. Jenna is great in English and French, really a fabulous communicator, with an international media network and is herself a talented film maker and producer.  We could have not asked for a better online film experience. The Paris International Film Festival is a fabulously positive celebration of cinema. Bravo Jenna and thank you for everything.â
The Big Kitty, Paris International Film Festival Q&A
Jenna Suru welcomes at the Paris International Film Festival, the filmmakers of The Big Kitty: PIFF 2021 winner of Best Experimental Feature. This film is a truly classic homage to 1940s cinema, but with the affectionate silliness of more recent contemporary comedies. Â Â
A Russian Princess is the catâs beloved owner â and around said catâs neck is a beautiful jewel. However, diamonds are not only a girl â or womanâs â best friend â and sure enough, the lights are pulled during a cabaret performance and the cat disappears. Enter a private detective hired by the Princess to seek out the culprits â and inevitably the trail will lead to all manner of escapades â and all manner of individuals determined to keep the detective in the dark and grey corners of the City, where anything can happen â and nothing is what it seems in thisâŠ..Â

Jenna Suru welcomes at the Paris International Film Festival, the filmmakers of Bad Candy: PIFF 2021 winner of Best Stunt Coordination Team, Best Hair & Makeup, Best Sound Mix and Best Editing.  Â
The film is hiting 400 theaters in the US latter this year! According to the directors of the film, Scott Hanson and Desiree Connell, the film is described as âa fun Halloween movie set on one night of insanity that takes place in the town of âNew Salemâ and follows a young girl who has the power to draw anything she wants, bringing life to that object which causes chaos in the small town.â Â Â

Kiss The Ground, Paris International Film Festival Q&A
Jenna Suru welcomes at the Paris International Film Festival, the filmmakers of Kiss the Ground: PIFF 2021 winner of Best Documentary Feature Film, on a Q&A moderated by Producer Actor, Jeff Rivera. Â Â Kiss The Ground was directed by husband-and-wife Josh (Sundance Audience Award for Best Documentary) and Rebecca Tickell who are environmental activists. The film focuses on an idea that rather than minding the atmosphere so much, we should focus on the ground that we stand on. Our soil and the hidden potential of the microbes could stop the reduction of the ozone layer caused by fossil fuels and reinvigorate the process. Issues like war, chemical weapons or the recycling of food are treated with brilliance. Â Â This documentary is highly educational. It contains definitions, significant visual pointers, that will heighten your own desire to be more involved in the future of the environment and planet. Â Â Watch Josh and Rebecca Q&A moderated by Jeff Rivera organized on the occasion of the international premiere of the documentary feature film during the Festival.
