Am I a doucher for sparring hard? Why were leglocks banned? Andrew, Bill and Olivia
The Ginja Ninja is back and he couldn't talk loud enough, so apologies for his quiet dainty voice. In this episode we talk about anxiety of rolling hard with upper belts and not feeling like a douche for doing it. Especially when you're not typically am aggressive jiu-jitsu stylist. We also touch on leg locks and why they were illegal for so long and should they be allowed in the gi at the Black and Brown Belt levels. The YOUTUBE video https://youtu.be/Rx9uPvVMFnw

Here we are, the ramp up to get the Grappling With_ podcast live is full steam. We are almost done setting up the studio and we wanted to do a full test episode with the new equipment. We will be cleaning stuff up as we go, but we will have 1 episode a week when we go live.
So this is just us chit chatting about Imposter Syndrome. Something I (Bill) did not realize was a thing until recent years. But holy smokeronies is it a thing. If you want to watch the test episode on youtube, check out the link below. Once again this is just a test! We will get better with every episode.

We talk about how we progressed our Jiut-Jitsu in a short period of time. We also give some advice for people rolling with ladies or small people. Also along the way we divert and go down a couple rabbit holes.
You will notice the audio is a million times better, thats because investments have been made and thigns are getting pretty serious.
Should Whitebelts be able to spar?, FloGrappling WNO Craig Jones vs Luis Panza
3rd Degree Black Beltch Andrew Solhiem and Bill talk about the upcoming Craig Jones VS Luis Panza Event on FLoGrappling. We also talk about if White Belt/new students should be able to spar & Roll. Excuse the audio quality. We are almost done building the studio and in the next month or so we will be sounding like Dolly Parton on the bayou.

Sh*t you need to know - Dr. Carrie Hardy & Dr. Chris Hardy
This episode we have Dr. Carrie Hardy and her lesser half Dr. Chris Hardy. They answer some listener questions that I have fielded over the last few weeks and I get put in the dog house for the nicknames I pick.
We look forward having Carrie on more as she gave some really good information on a wide range of topics. Some of the questions were:
1) What level emphasis does he place on gut health? Is there any steps he suggest for maintaining good gut health?
2) How bio available are micro nutrients in multivitamins? Are they worth taking?
3) What are good blood test markers or other test markers to look at? With these markers is there any adjustments one could make to optimize diet and lifestyle to fit their genetics?
4] If you are going to go diary free, how long does it take for it to fully leave the body? (Prior dairy consumption)
5] How to improve ankle mobility
6] Is HIIT training bad for people who have thyroid issues? Should it be limited to X times a week
If you have any questions you would like Chris or Carrie to speak on, just let me know and I will get them in!
Andrew Solheim & Dr. Chris - Jake Paul vs Ben Askren. FloGrapplings WNO Event, and Foot Rubs.
Dr. Chris Hardy - Hold the Jiu-Jitsu and give me all the depression
**I had to use a backup mic so my audio is a little wonky, I will have that sorted for the next episode. Hope you enjoy.**
Chris and myself enjoy a chat about the effects this lockdown has been on our mental state. I have been all over the map and have struggled with a tremendous amount of mixed feelings and we try to talk about it. I also hit him with a series of quick hitting questions that I fielded from you, the listeners. So be sure to check out that last 20min or so for that. Some of the topics we touch on are:
- How fears affect or impact those with depression?
- Does depression come from fear?
- What are if any self diagnosable techniques to know if you are depressed? What are some signs, besides just feeling poopy?
- Soreness issues, I need help!
- Fats post workout, why or why not.
- Working out to look good and training jiu-jitsu
- Should I get in shape before starting bjj
- What are his feelings about Wim Hoff method, breathing/cold water therapy.
- Some good stretches for BJJ and lifting?

Intro Song: Colter Wall - Devil wears a suit and tie
Shaun Tyree - Black, White, and Blue
Shaun Joins me today to chat about a few hot button issues like Law Enforcement Training, defunding the police, and being a big teddy bear.
We also talk some judo and Jiu-Jitsu, but this will be a multiple episode chat with Shaun, because we were a little scattered thanks to me and we just scratched the surface on some tough topics.
Andrew Solhiem A.K.A. Ginga Ninja - Farm Life Stories, Gary Tonnon vs Palhares, Adding Rules For BJJ, Big Guns
Andrew Solhiem is a 3rd degree Black Beltch in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he owns and runs Cascade Jiu-Jitsu in Everett, WA. In this episode we talk do not get into BJJ talk for about 15 minutes, but I do get to share some lovely farm life experiences.
BJJ related talk had to do with, Gary Tonon vs Palhares , Roger vs Jacare, adapting some wrestling rules to BJJ, like push outs and such. Are singlets needed? Are you a perv if you say yes?

Chris Hardy - SUG 13, Starting to do bjj again?, fast food tour
In this episode, Dr. Hardy puts me on the couch and we go over some common pitfalls when we are not able to train or just fall away from training. We talk about some home workouts that are BJJ oriented, not to mention when we start training again what can we do to stay healthy when our bodies are now one big pile of wagyu beef.
Also, we had a live event to talk about. Submission Underground 13! With Craig Jones, Vinny Magalhães, Richie Martinez, and the local Austin Daffron. Disgusting things happened during this event, but we all looked like Caesar in the movie gladiator and yelled JUST BLEED!!! I am sure of this. With that, enjoy.
Chris Hardy 2 - Chubby Living
We also touch on some home workouts you can do with body weight exercises and kettle bells. What weights you typically will start out at and what your goal will be with some of these strength building movements.
Jason Himstedt A.K.A. The Texzilian
Jason is a Brown Belt in the art of ground karate. He grew up in Brazil, lived in Texas, Georgia, and now Washington. We talk about banana hammocks, being a more timid personality when starting BJJ, Being 40 and training regularly.
Take a listen as I try to distract Jason with poorly timed jokes and bad movie references.
Andrew Solheim A.KA. The Ninja Ginja
Episode phree is in the building.
Andrew Solheim is a Black Belt in BJJ and a natural Red Belt in life. In this episode we talk about how he got started in Jiu-Jitsu, what it felt like to get his blue belt, and he touches on his favorite foods and beer. If Andrew is your coach you will really like to hear what your lineage looks like in the BJJ sphere.
He is a red blooded Amurican that also touches on, pre-workout before class/competition, his favorite maple bar, having a long belt, and the BJJ Globetrotter vs IBJJF topic.
Osss.
Chris Hardy A.K.A. Doc
Episode Deux
Today I talk to Chris Hardy, a good friend, training partner and a real life Dr. He is a board certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and has a unique and extensive background. We go into that background briefly and touch on some ways to stay on the mats when training consistently.
Our First - Test Run w/Olivia
Olivia and Bill tried out the new setup and tried out talking for an hour. Improvements coming, but friends, let me know where to improve.
We chatted about some celebrating and rubbing in your training partners face that you just tapped them. Men training with Ladies, motivation struggles and random bits in between.
