Preparation for Communion 2

Preparation for Communion 2

On Sunday mornings we want to help you prepare to come to the Lord’s Table. Even if, for now, we might still have to wait some time before we can receive Communion, it’s good to use this time of waiting in lockdown to prepare ourselves.

In this episode we want to think about how at the Lord's Table we proclaim the Lord's death, and so give thanks for His death in our place on the cross.

Preparation for Communion 1

On Sunday mornings we want to help you prepare to come to the Lord’s Table. Even if, for now, we might still have to wait some time before we can receive Communion, it’s good to use this time of waiting in lockdown to prepare ourselves. So, in this first episode we’re thinking about what preparing ourselves involves, as well as a prayer for God’s help in examining ourselves and a prayer of thanksgiving.

Meditation: Matthew 6:19-21

Meditation means delighting in God's Word in such a way that we hide it in our hearts and ponder it so that the Word will do its life-giving and transformative work in us. It's a way of reading the Scriptures in the presence of God and receiving them as His gift to us. So let's take 5 minutes to rest in God's presence, reading and meditating on Matthew 6:19-21.

Corpus Christi: Thanksgiving for the Institution of Holy Communion

Corpus Christi: Thanksgiving for the Institution of Holy Communion

Normally we give thanks for all that Jesus has done for us and for the communion we have with Him at His Table each Sunday morning when we gather together in church. But in lockdown things are a bit different. So why not give thanks for what we're missing on this Day of Thanksgiving for the Institution of Holy Communion. Here's a short service with Bible Readings from 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 and John 6:55-58, prayers of thanksgiving for Christ's sacrifice and for the benefit He gives us in His Supper, and a hymn which was specially written for this day of thanksgiving for Communion many centuries ago by a great theologian.
