Stained Class w/ Alicia Cordisco [PRIDE]
https://linktr.ee/alicia_in_chains
Our heart was clean now we're stained class at Judas Priestcast! Two longtime Judas Priest fanatics (and new friends) George (he) and Hattie (she/any) come together from opposite sides of the world, united in their love of the iconic heavy metal band.
This time around, we wrap up the Pride series with Alicia Cordisco (she), a prolific guitarist/vocalist/songwriter in the underground metal scene, of recently the bands Project: Roenwolfe, Transgressive, and Wraithstorm. Alicia tells us all about how she set out to make music for the benefit of queer and marginalized people, what the metal community succeeds at and where it could improve, and her choice to be extremely visible as a trans musician. Later, your hosts break down "Stained Class", a raging speedfest from the 1978 album of the same name. As expected, George, Hattie, and Alicia find plenty of socio-political commentary in these lyrics, and we take some time to check out a live version played by Halford in 2001. Time has slashed each untouched thing, so hit that play button and be a stained class king with Judas Priestcast!

We're bulletproof and bound for glory at Judas Priestcast! Two longtime Judas Priest fanatics (and new friends) George (he) and Hattie (she/any) come together from opposite sides of the world, united in their love of the iconic heavy metal band.
This time around, the Pride series continues with Westin (they), Noob Heavy blog writer, who loops us in on their work into promoting bands with positive ethics, their experiences growing up with limited metalhead connections and seeking out a community online, and how the diversity of bands & audiences has enriched metal. Later, your hosts break down "Leather Rebel" from 1990's much-loved Painkiller. Westin presents a lyrical interpretation with strong undercurrents of Halford's life in the closet and the accepting world Rob wanted to see. Hit play on this episode and start a chain reaction, because Judas Priestcast always takes the fight!

You got our scent and we can hear you howl at Judas Priestcast! Two longtime Judas Priest fanatics (and new friends) George (he) and Hattie (she/any) come together from opposite sides of the world, united in their love of the iconic heavy metal band.
This time around, the Pride series continues with Brett (he) and Lux (they) of the band Soulmass. By playing a crushingly heavy mix of doom and melodic death metal, Brett and Lux found an outlet for their personal pain and wrote music that helped them discover their own identities. The duo talk about the stories that Soulmass base their lyrics on, and how those connect to their personal journeys. Later, your panel gets down to business with a deep cut from 1986's arena-metal opus Turbo. Yes, we are "Hot for Love" today, but which band does Lux think Judas Priest was heavily inspired by during the Turbo era? Before the Dawn & Our Queer Stories [PRIDE]
It's been a lifetime that we've had this in the works at Judas Priestcast! Two longtime Judas Priest fanatics (and new friends) George (he) and Hattie (she/any) come together from opposite sides of the world, united in their love of the iconic heavy metal band.

We go deep on our orientations, identities, and our struggles; you'll get to really know George and Hattie in this episode! After that, we break down "Before the Dawn", a ballad of love, longing, and leaving from 1978 album Killing Machine / Hell Bent for Leather. We came in this morning high on a bird's wing to bring you this episode of Judas Priestcast! Two longtime Judas Priest fanatics (and new friends) George and Hattie come together from opposite sides of the world, united in their love of the iconic heavy metal band.
Winding down a block of episodes on 70s Priest, we enlisted the prolific Scott Haskin to offer input on one more track from Rocka Rolla: "Dying to Meet You/Hero Hero". In this song, we find poignant lyrics that paint vivid visuals, and musical pieces indicative of the era. We also take some time to learn a bit about Uriah Heep, a contemporary band to Judas Priest, whose discography Scott has discussed in full on The Magician's Podcast. Judas Priest take you with them where no music's been before on their 4th album Stained Class, and the closing song "Heroes End" is a strange and interesting capstone to this masterful album.
