How to handle difficult parental relationships and how to set boundaries with toxic people.
In this podcast episode, I shared the advice I gave with a client who suffered physical and emotional abuse from her mother all her life, and taught her how to set boundaries, how to deal with her mother moving forward, all while looking after herself. If you've ever had a relationship with someone toxic or abusive, this will deeply resonate with you as the ideas I share are universal and can apply to a difficult relationship with a parent, a spouse, a child, a boss or a friend.
Main takeaways:
1) No matter what situation you're in, look after you! You must do whatever it takes to take care of your physical, emotional, and mental well-being, especially when in an emotionally-charged challenge in your life. You're of no value to anyone if you're running on empty and have nothing left to give.
2) Setting boundaries with toxic people and relatives is a lifelong practice that must be done if you truly want to master your life and have peace. If you're not used to it, setting boundaries feels super icky and uncomfortable, but the pay-off is HUGE!! Learn how to do this in the episode.
3) Do everything with a pure intention. Don't do or say anything out of obligation or ego to appease someone else, but do it because you truly want to, and it's in your heart to do so. Living your life with integrity, honesty and self-respect always has a positive outcome.

In this week’s podcast episode, I talked about how the story we tell ourselves impacts the quality of our lives and our relationships. This is especially true when we’re faced with difficult situations, and our minds start racing and our thoughts are based in fear, worry and lack. We've all been in a hard situation where emotions were high and our thoughts are out of control and we jump on the freight train going 100 miles per hour, and there's no stopping us. This only causes us major anxiety and pain, and left unresolved can impact us and others for years.
If you want to elevate the quality of your life and your relationships, you need to start analyzing and questioning the story you’re telling yourself, and have conversations with the people in your life that challenge you the most. You get to decide how your days turn out. You are no longer influenced or affected by anything outside of your control.

3 questions to get out of overwhelm
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, confused, worried and overall just not feeling yourself these days, then this podcast episode will help move you into action.

Everything in life happens for you, not to you.
It is so easy to blame others, the economy, organizations, and the world for all of our problems, but that is not an empowered way to live and go through life.
Adopting the idea that everything is happening for you, and not to you, will bring you so much peace and release you from the burdens of life, and give you the strength and fortitude to keep moving forward to take the right action to propel your life towards better days.
No matter the situation, if you choose to work on developing a strong, grounded, grateful mindset, you will go through life counting your blessings and seeing the good in every situation, rather than looking for someone to blame, and festering in anger and remorse towards people, organizations and circumstances.
To master your life, means to master your mind first. Because every thought, every reaction and every behavior begins in your mind, and your perspective, and the lens you choose to see life through will determine your level of peace, happiness and success in your life.

Change Your Perspective, Change Your Life
In today’s episode of the Master Your Life podcast, I shared the stories of 2 powerful women who have inspired me and impacted me to think about my life, and what happens in my life, through a different lens. My hope is that by. hearing their stories, you will also choose to see your life and all its challenges through a different lens.
The title of this episode is so powerful, because if you are open and flexible in your thinking vs having a fixed or rigid mindset, you literally can change the lens through which you see and experience life. Perspective is a very powerful force that creates our reality and the quality of our lives. If we see the glass half full vs half empty, then our experience is the opposite of someone who sees the glass half empty, resulting in different lifestyles, different approaches to experiences and opportunities, and overall impacts the quality of our lives.
What’s the story you’re currently telling yourself about your life or a particular challenge you’re facing?
Is it positive and solution-oriented, or is your perspective falling into the category of why me, it’s not fair, how can this have happened to me?
What you'll learn in this episode:
1) Identify if you are a glass half full or glass half empty type of person
2) 4 ways to shift your perspective towards being a glass half full type of person
3) Develop your self-awareness and how you respond to challenges in your life
4). Be reminded of how much you have and how much you have already accomplished despite your current circumstances.
It’s important to develop your self-awareness to identify bad habits that really don’t serve you and propel your life forward, and to consciously decide to change your perspective and think positively, see the best happening for you not the worst, always think in abundance that things will be bigger and better than they have been in the past. Remembering that your sub-conscious mind doesn’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s not real, and your thoughts shape your destiny.
So whatever you are dealing with right now, know that there is always at least 2 options available to you. One sees new opportunities, positive outcomes, positive change, and the other sees a lack of justice, has a victim-mentality, is not focused on solutions, just the problem, and there is little to no change as the thoughts, feelings and actions created through a scarcity perspective are not designed to give you what you really want.
Change your perspective, change your life.
