She is a retired competitive figure skater and has gone on to pursue her education in Egyptian art, while also dedicating her life to arts education programming. We discussed her success, career pivots, our experiences as transfer students, among several other topics.

In this conversation we discussed Dr.Mays' path to academia, the scholars who have played a significant role in his career and academic journey, and how academics can and should play a role in the Black Lives Matter movement. Ash was born and raised in Egypt and has traveled to Germany, Ireland, the US, and the UK for her education. In this conversation we discussed her path to academia, the people who have inspired her journey, and issues related to access to higher education for aspiring academics in the Arab world. Ash has been such a central figure of inspiration for me while I was at Oxford and I hope you find her story equally as inspiring!
